And she was ruining the moment with her worry, which got a slightly annoyed frown from him as he watched her. "Do I have to have the public involved in everything that I do? I'm not allowed any pleasure for myself?" It did bother him sometimes that she cared what everyone else thought. "Would it be better for you if I just take it back and ask you at the next social function then?"

"Well...Galesen Coldiron isn't really your average elf that Valeessen is used to. Sheltered or not. And he's young and brash and such. Not to mention, he upset you and I know the boy doesn't take kindly to that from anyone. He's as protective of you as you are of him."

Lark settled back and folded her hands in her lap, glancing down at them quietly. She was a bit surprised at the annoyed edge in his voice and felt bad for bringing it up. "No...I just..." Shaking her head and chewing on her lower lip. "I'm sorry. I just want everything to go smoothly." To her chagrin, she felt a tear snake down her cheek and swiped it away, her eyes pleading with him to understand. "I don't want anyone ruining something special by protesting at our wedding."

"That was my thought as well but I can't rule out the possibility that Vale might not want me keeping company with male elves. Not that that will stop me from being with you, of course. But it'll make things a little more difficult and strained between you and Vale and I don't want to affect that relationship."

"Look...I'm sorry it upset you, but I just can't stand by and put my life on hold because of opinions. Yes, they matter but they can't run my life or I'm never going to live it." He really didn't like seeing her cry at all. Reaching over he pulled her back to him. "You can't think things like that, or you're not even going to enjoy our wedding because you'll be worrying."

"You think Valeessen is trying to keep you all to himself? I don't know...if he was acting like that he would either be much younger on a 'marry my mother' streak, or he wouldn't see you as a mother at all and more or someone to persue." Speaking rather matter of factly as he tended to do.

"I know that. I was thinking of a compromise like a double proposal--one here and one in public--but I think we'll just announce the engagement publicly and if that upsets someone then so be it. We deserve our happiness just like anyone else and no circlet should be able to snatch that away from us." Burying her head in his neck, she tried to control herself so she wouldn't upset him anymore than she already had. "I'm sorry, Glynnic. I've been bugging you to death to propose to me and when you do, I go and ruin it with all my silly anxieties."

Lhia threw her head back and laughed then patted Ty's thigh. He'd misunderstood but she couldn't blame him seeing as she'd basically said just that. "When I say he might object I just mean that he doesn't want to see me get hurt and if I'm not with any males, the possibility is much smaller. I don't think Vale could ever think of me that way and I know I never could." Sighing softly, "I'll talk to him about it and see how he feels."

"Exactly my point. The only reason anyone cares anyway is because we wear shiny bands of metal around our heads." Giving her a squeeze and rubbing at her arm comfortingly as she was now feeling bad about ruining the moment. "Well...I suposse it just wouldn't be the same unless I had to soothe you about something or other. Be it over excitment that may wake everyone else, or tears."

"Oh...well yes that's true too. But one day he's going to find a girl himself and I'm sure he wouldn't want you trying to keep him from getting hurt in that manner by chasing them off with a stick." Chuckling lightly and shaking his head at the notion. "That's all you can do. But he's a grown boy and he should understand that you have to take care of yourself as well."

He seemed to be less annoyed with her and she took that as a good sign. Of course, they would probably have more of these particular types of spats in the future because she did care what other people thought, especially their respective kingdoms. She liked to avoid conflict whenever possible, keep things as they were and not rock the boat too much and Glynnic was willing to change everything if he thought it would bring about a desired result. "I really am excited. I've been going insane wondering if you were serious about our future together and hoping you wouldn't meet someone else who captured your heart in the meantime." Another of her fears...yes, she sometimes made problems where none actually existed. "Do I get a ring?"

"Will he truly?" She wondered how Ty would take this discussion but she'd become worried lately that he wasn't getting enough interaction with Obsidians and might be experiencing negative emotions based on that. "I'm not sure he feels entirely comfortable dating here, Ty. He loves being in Brigade and is so perfect for it...but I wonder if he doesn't need to be in Requias associating with the Obsidians more. I don't want him to feel like he can't talk to them or associate with them because he doesn't know them. Does that make sense?"

"Oh come now, you know no other girl drives me crazy and angry and everything else at the same time like you do." Pulling away from her and getting himself up, heading to the dresser where he had stashed his party attire from before and rifling in the pockets before coming back and plopping on the bed on his side with the small box, showing her the ring which was a simple woven band of gold and silver metals, a sapphrie in the center encircled by diamonds. "You have no idea how I agonized over this thing and I'm still not sure if you'd honestly like it."

"Most young boys tend to eventually." Smiling at her worry over Vale, who yes was more or less her son now. "Well...that problem is easily solved. I can just assign him over to Requias a few times a month. I can take him on my way over to Daimos in a few days. I'll drop him and a partner at Requias then head to Vrist for my own business." Giving her a grin, "It makes sense. He may not be the only Obsidian in brigade anymore, but there aren't many of them."

"I'm taking that as a compliment even though it sounded kind of mean." She watched him curiously, waiting to see what he'd picked out for her and was rather overwhelmed when she saw the ring. Not because of it's size or beauty or anything like that, just because she was looking at a ring that he'd picked out for the express purpose of making her his wife. It was an emotional moment and she covered her mouth and held back tears. "It's...perfect." Simple, elegant, and the sapphire in the middle was totally her. The diamonds gave it the extra kick and shine she liked in her jewelry.

"They'll treat him well, right? I know he's Brigade and all of that but that doesn't mean they can't be cruel to him. I always feared someone would say he abandoned his own subrace or something like that..." She blinked at him and frowned. "What do you have to do in Daimos?" She didn't like Ty going there or dealing with Mahlari, even if he could put fear in her...though she'd never show it. "Nope, and none of them are women."

"No worries. It was." Watching her as she seemed to be having the commonplace reaction that his father explained would be normal and don't worry about crying or something of the sorts. "Oh, good...I guess I don't have to worry then." Taking the ring out of the box he slipped it on her finger and pressed a kiss to the back of her hand. "Now don't get all weepy on me."

"Requias Obsidians are more docile and tend to be more pleasant. Out of the confines and dictations of Vrist, they have their freedom to do as they please. There have been many elves born and grown around his age that are there. If anything he'll get some interaction of his own, I'll make sure he's stationed in a good encampment." And it was back to business for the moment, "I have to go check in on Mahlari...and I want to see how Krymsyn is doing. She needs to be getting the proper level of exposure to the surface after all, as well as I need to talk to the girl myself away from prying mother and aunt ears."

She was still trying to hold back the tears and admiring the ring at the same time. It fit perfectly and that's when she lost it, his kiss only making her cry harder. She couldn't help it and thus, it was time to curl up in his arms and simply cry. "I-I c-can't help it..."

"I certainly hope so. I hope he makes a friend or two over there and it helps him. He's doing well with those around his age in Brigade and his current companion gives me reports that he's doing extremely well." Which always made her beam with pride and pleasure. Even if she wasn't allowed to train him anymore, it was still nice knowing the lessons she'd taught him had taken hold. "Just be careful...I don't like you going down there. Everyone thinks it's a foolish waste of time. That girl can't possibly be good growing up around such a treacherous snake."

He laughed and pulled her to his chest, snuggling down into the soft bedding with her. As father had said, let her cry it out then the happy would really come. "Fair enough, cry it all out then so you can be giddy and flighty and everyone can go 'oh something is different about her' and then you can flash your ring."

"I know what everyone things. Which is why I endeavour to make sure she's not isolated in a world of old traditions and her mother's fostering. I admit, I should have never let the Obsidians do as they pleased for so long but all things can be changed. It just needs a spark, and Andal is changing from it's old ideals. Either we all must change with it, or tear ourselves apart." Giving her a smile, "You know I'm safe down there. If I went down and never came back or came back hurt the whole plane would riot."

She cried on his chest for a good five minutes and then took a few moments and kissed him in thanks and happiness. She was so pleased, she honestly thought she was going to burst with the sheer pleasure of it. "Love me, Glynnic. I'll marry you if you love me forever the same way you've been doing since you met me."

"They thought they knew better than everyone else and dug underground to prove it. All they did was nearly extinct themselves and cause more harm than was needed." Shivering as she thought about the one time she'd accompanied him down there. "I don't know how you stand it. It's like being swallowed up into a hole. I thought I was going to suffocate when I was down there."

"I can most certinaly do that without any problem or question. Long as you promise to do the same." Nuzzling at her before brushing his thumbs over her cheeks to dry them of the tears there and pressing a kiss to her lips. "Just think, now your father can't bother you as much about me. Won't that be fun."

Giving her another comforting brush of his hands at her mentioning of how things were and the place. "Me and Kyytael spent a lot of time underground as children, actually...so I'm comfortable with the environment itself. I just don't pay attention to the less pleasant things down there." Grinning, "It can be trying on most elves, don't feel bad."

"I do. Forever and beyond. Even if you leave me, against your will or not, I will never love or give myself to another." She let him dry her cheeks and then rested her head against his chest to take it all in. Snickering at his comment, she thought about what her father would say to her engagement. He'd been convinced it was going to happen anyway. But now that he'd soothed her fears, she was in the mood to celebrate and she rose over him and began gently coaxing him to respond with her fingertips and then her lips.

"That must have been lovely for the two of you. At the very least prepared you to have to handle the likes of them." Shaking her head. "Don't you ever just want to shake that girl? I've heard she's not as bad as her mother but she's not far off either."

"I think I can take that as an acceptable answer." After all, he had tormented her for months now, there was no sense in tormenting her more. Thusly he let her get to him as she wanted before rolling her over in the bed and returning the favor.

"It had it's lovely points. Though we fought like cats in a sack when we were down there together for extended periods. He often won." Old memories were nice to revisit sometimes but he knew that dwelling would deaden the good ones. "She's difficult, but not impossible. Just needs some attention that's positive and when she does start getting extra difficult, I ignore her."
