Remus smiled kindly, scooted around the chessboard, and wrapped a comforting arm around Wendy's shoulders. "There's nothing wrong with that, Wendy," he said, giving her a squeeze and a kiss on the head before going back to the other side. "Rematch?" he offered, to distract her.

Wendy grinned at him. "You're on!" she said, setting the pieces back up.
She was in the middle of winning for the fourth time that day when Sam called from downstairs, "Hey, Wendy? Could you make me a sandwich?"
Wendy glared at the trapdoor. He's hurt, she reminded herself, otherwise he definitely wouldn't be making you make him a sandwich. That's only Finn who does that. Deep breath. Shaking off her dislike of her role as resident work-doer, she called back, "I'm a little busy!"
So quickly that it took Wendy a while to register what had happened, Finn busted through the trapdoor. "You'd better not be gettin' busy!" he roared.
Wendy blinked up at him in disbelief. Below, Sam's roaring laughter could be heard faintly.

It was almost funny, how calm Remus could be when he was caught not doing something wrong. He looked up and blinked at Finn mildly, the air of an extremely busy person being interrupted emnating from him in waves. "Hello."

Wendy's lips twitched as she fought laughter with every fiber of her being. Finn turned beet-red.
"Er... hey... I was just... y'know..." He rubbed the back of his neck embarrassedly. Wendy coughed lightly, disguising a laugh.
"Duly noted. D'you think you could be a dear and make Sam a sandwich for me?" she asked sweetly. Finn grimaced, realizing that that was his pay for having failed epically.
"Sure, will do..."
"Thanks, dear." As soon as the trapdoor closed behind Wendy's youngest older brother, she was lying on her back, hugging her stomach and laughing her arse off.

Sirius played peek-a-boo, and the verious other games in the routine that the maid had taught him (as his mother wasn't enthusiastic about child-rearing) When Regulus was younger. He truly liked kids, and this one was no exception.
He peeked over his shoulder at Marketa, and asked her, "Are you sure you don't want any help? You look fatigued."

Remus let out a few chuckles and dropped down to the floor beside Wendy, searching for her hand with his and giving it a squeeze. "That was certainly interesting," he commented dryly.
Mar turned around just as she put the plate onto the dish-drainer. "All done," she said with a smile. She dried her hands and mozeyed over to stand behind Skoba; he was just tall enough when sitting that she could bend her arms at a 90 degree angle and lean on his shoulders comfortably, resting her chin on top of his dark hair.

Wendy's giggles finally subsided and she sat up, combing her hair with her free hand. "Wasn't it, though?" she said, smiling. "And I didn't even end up having to make a sandwich! This is the second-best day ever!"

Remus seemed to be sincerely surprised by this news, his eyebrows raising slightly as he looked at Wendy. Then he turned a magnificently happy shade of red and smiled shyly. "Oh." He didn't even mind the hair-ruffling so much now.

Wendy smiled ecstatically at him for a bit, then realized she had actually found a pretty good, thought-provoking, time-passing topic for conversation. "So what about you?" she asked, lying on her stomach with her chin in her hands and making herself comfortable as though she were a kindergartener preparing for story time. "What's your best day ever?"

Remus seemed to ponder this thought for a very long time. He was sorely tempted to say 'yesterday' as well, but he really didn't know. "I think it's a tie," he said very slowly, "between yesterday, and the day that my friends found out about my illness and told me they didn't care. I had been convinced that no one wanted to be friends with the sick kid, you see." He still remembered that day as clear in fresh as if he were still a second-year.
Marketa smiled as her mother discreetly left the room, and planted a light little kiss to Skoba's temple. "Anyting," she said contentedly. She glanced at the boarded up window, where a few little snowflakes were drifting in between the cracks. "I don't tink outside would be best idea, dough."
