Josh still felt uncomfortable. However, Namini’s misplaced humor and tenderness did help to alleviate some of his distress. His eyebrows perked up at her teasing statement and his lips curled into a sly grin. He ducked down to place a chaste peck on her cheek. He resurfaced just as quickly as he had gone in for the affectionate gesture. “Fine then. Just try to stay out of trouble for my sake Chickie.” He ruffled her honey brow curls; tossing them haplessly around her head.

He peeked over her shoulder and witnessed David one the horizon. Crap… Josh mentally kicked himself.

Rivener sniffed haughtily as the man offered his explanation. So what if this was a public beach? "Taking a walk without watching where you're going," Riv reminded, still slightly miffed at the situation. When Shadow introduced himself and offered his hand to shake, Rivener scoffed but took the hand anyway, giving it a strong shake before crossing his arms again.

"Shadow. Creative," Riv said snarkily. "And my name is RivenER, not RivenAR. Anyway, I suppose you should feel free to look around and whatnot. Just be respectful and don't bump into people. 'S rude." Turning his head, Rivener signaled the end of the conversation, about ready to go back to his nap. After all, he'd been interrupted, hadn't he? and he was starting to feel a bit drowsy.

(( Eating Contest ))

Mouse had been watching the pie eating contest more or less quietly, handing out glasses of water when they had been asked for and keeping trash cans nearby for people whose stomachs couldn't handle the load. It looked like people were starting to slow down - which was good, it meant that she'd gauged the time limit more or less correctly.

Holding up the megaphone again, she shouted across the contestants, "Time's almost up, you guys!"

Dayo continued to watch and listen to Lazarus, remaining oblivious to the parts of her anatomy his eyes kept being trapped in no matter how many times they tried to escape. Instead her own gaze drifted to the other contestants, an almost sickened look touching her features as the people around her started getting full and having to deal with the unpleasant feelings that came with reckless overindulgence. What had happened to how pleasant the place had felt just a few minutes ago...?

The final straw was the sudden, bitter jolt of disgust that suddenly spiked from the Sigel sitting next to her. In the same way that the overwhelming sweetness had taken Lazarus by surprise, the sickly change in atmosphere caused Dayo's face to crunch up in displeasure and she slowly began to wobble away from the eating contest (Jasper still in tow), perhaps making a few people in the area feel a little gloomier in the process.

"No.."

The man's once warm and playful tone seemed to have been whisked away with the calming breeze as he narrowed his suspicious eyes on the teenage couple. He was just about to walk away, taking his female distraction with him, until he witnessed the fatal event. David seemed to twitch as he watched the taller brunette lean in and place a delicate and probably harmless (except in David's eyes) kiss on his younger sister's cheek. That little---!!

Unable to restrain himself, the older man preceded to strutting over to the pair. And that's when Namini noticed him. The killer aura he was giving off was unmistakable! Though her cheeks were on fire, Namini reacted quickly, stepping in to protect her dear friend.

"D-David! Stop," she cried shakily, turning around to face her brother. The siblings waged off silently, terrifying storms forced against turbulent waves. Namini flashed him an immediate smile, as she boldly wrapped her arms around one of Josh's muscular ones. She pouted at her brother, happy to see his features tighten as she purred, "He was just helping me up. I butted my head against his mouth, kay? Nothing happened. We just got..a little rough with the water balloons."

David glared daggers at his sister's innocent act. The quiet war between siblings continued uncomfortably.

Shadow looked faintly hurt and/or embarrassed as Rivener reminded him of his "clumsiness" but he didn't say anything in response. He did, however, wince at the other's correction. "Oop... sorry again. Rivener. Got it," he assured, with a little nod.

Then he blinked as the Raeven rather suddenly ended the conversation, but shrugged mentally. "Ah well, I suppose I should leave you to your nap then," he said easily. And then a playful sort of smirk spread over his face. "You might want this back first, though," he said, and pulled Rivener's camera out of a back pocket, holding it up before the other.

Now just to hope he didn't get attacked - and if he did that he could run fast enough to get the hell away. But the other didn't seem too violent. Just ... touchy. Maybe.

Josh stayed back from the battle ensuing between the two siblings. If he had learned one thing from his last encounter with David, it was that he should not rear up against the man. The stubborn and overly charismatic guy had a way of delivering a very persuasive headbutt. Josh merely looked dead ahead in David’s stormy gray eyes. The boy wore a indifferent and slightly aggravated expression. He made no effort to confirm or deny Namini’s obvious lie.

Rivener frowned as the man amended himself, repeating Rivener's name properly to make sure he had it right. Riv had never thought his name was hard to say, especially not compared to, say, Eiry's... but his name WAS a little strange. Still, it was unpleasant to have it mistaken.

Shadow, at least, seemed to be getting the hint, announcing his leaving. That mischievious smirk caused Rivener to frown in annoyance and concern, wondering what the hell was so amusing. When the black-skinned man produced the camera from out of a pocket, Rivener's eyes shot open wide and his hands darted to his own pocket, checking for the digicam-... GONE!

This guy- this guy had bumped into him-... and just like in the movies, pickpocketed... Rivener growled and bared his teeth, eyes narrowing to furious slits as his hand darted out with the speed of a scorpion's tail, snatching his precious camera from the black hand of the pickpocket. A string of loud, colorful profanities spilled from Rivener's mouth. "You're lucky I swore I wouldn't poison people anymore, you !#@$&^$%^$@#!!! Touch my stuff again though and I might forget!!! Get outta my sight before I snap your neck with my bare hands!!!" Being quite physically strong, Rivener had no doubt that he'd be able to strangle someone easily. He didn't know he'd have to resist the urge to do so at this party. Clutching the camera to his half-formed chest possessively, Rivener glared at the man, willing him to leave.

Ebony was no empath, but one didn’t need to be to see plainly that David’s playful tone didn’t quite match the one reflected in his eyes. Familiar eyes…furious eyes. But wait, they were gone now. Rather surprised at first when David simply stormed off without any sort of word to her, she fought the innate feeling of wanting to kick him for being so rude while she ran after the man.

She watched from the sidelines curiously when the younger girl began defending herself and her friend. Steel orbs took a sidelong glance at the other. The boy was quiet, his obvious irritation of David’s sudden appearance clearly written upon his face. Ebony quirked a brow and wondered why the male didn’t stand up for himself.

Noting the thick silence between the group and most specifically between the two siblings, the violet haired woman loudly cleared her throat. Perhaps a distraction was in order to salvage whatever peace there was, if any. Offering out her slender hand towards the girl, “Ah, so you must be Namini! It’s nice to meet you. I’m Ebony. Ebony Shade.”

Ok, yea. Definitely a bad idea to play around with this guy. Shadow obviously hadn't been expecting such an outburst, for now he did stumbled back a step or two as the camera was snatched out of his hand. Holy gods, the Raeven was fast.

"Whoa! Poison people?! Hey look, I'll apologize again but it was just a joke! I wasn't gonna keep it," he insisted quickly. Then he figured that it was, indeed, time to get going which the going was good.

So he kept on backing away for a few paces, almost like one would do with a strange and/or dangerous animal. Then he turned around and walked quickly away. Tiiiiime to perhaps find someone less violent to talk to.

((Sand n' Stuff))

After a heavy silence, David murmured quietly, a disappointment scribbled all across his features, erasing any trace of rage, "So that's your game.."

Another moment of silence as Namini stared worriedly at her brother. All she could do was hope that another fight between the boys didn't ensure otherwise, she'd have to pick a side. Suddenly, a woman who had been following David curiously stopped in front of the group and offered a kind hand to the curly haired brunette. Namini stared at the slender hand as if it were a disease. Now it was her turn to get angry.

Turning her attention back to the silent brother, Namini furrowed her brows in utter frustration and raised a hand. David watched in anticipation, the disappointment never leaving his face...which forced the younger girl to, at the last minute, double the strength in her slap. The sound of palm meeting the other's face echoed throughout the beach. Namini drew her hand back, with an awkward anger burning into her face.

"So that's YOUR game huh?," she choked. It was like watching some soap opera breakup. Whirling away from the older male, Namini flashed Ebony an apologetic smile, trying her best to recollect herself, "Pleasure's mine, Ms. Ebony."

Then Namini stormed off, unknowingly soon to find comfort by the sand castles. David stood, stunned, but understanding, diong nothing more than clenching and unclenching his fists. Finally, after a dramatic pause, he turned his dangerous stare onto Josh once again, "You should get out of here too. Otherwise, without my sister, who knows? We may have a recap of our last meeting."

((sand and stuff-->eating contest))

Chris quickly hurried back to the eating contest, her face flushed as Cierra walked beside her. After she had vomited from the contest, the only thing Chris had really been thinking about was trying to feel better. She had ended up getting distracted afterwards (it would be rather odd if what she had seen wasn't distracting) and forgot about the pie eating contest. It had only come to her attention again a few moments ago, so now she slipped back into her spot, hoping people wouldn't be too angry at her, absentmindedly eating a bit of the fruit pies that had been left untouched in her main part of eating, so that her future enjoyment of them wouldn't be spoiled by the experience.

[[Sand n Stuff // Beach Bar]]

Still swearing fluently under his breath, eyes flashing furiously, Rivener settled back onto the sand, clutching his camera, his precious precious camera. His favorite thing in the whole world. His first possession, the first gift he'd ever gotten from Aphi. And someone tried to take it. Rivener shook with rage.

Curling up on the hot sand, fiercely protecting the camera, Rivener closed his eyes and tried to sleep again, but every time someone talked too loud or walked near, red eyes flew open to check and make sure they weren't approaching. This would make napping nearly impossible. Giving up, Riv compromised by just staying curled up on the sand with the camera, playing with its buttons.

Aphismet noticed that the contest was nearing its end, and it suddenly reminded him; he'd promised Isi he'd join the paintball contest on his behalf! "Ah, Isi! I'm going to go sign up for Paintball, okay? Hold tight, don't give up!" Hurriedly, Aphi pushed through the bustling crowd as politely as he could, making his way to the Beach Bar, where he found the sign-up sheet and scribbled his name quickly. There!

Josh gasped as Namini showed her first signs of violence. He could still hear the raw crack of her slap echoing in the air. The boy didn’t believe that she was capable of doing something like this. It just proved that Namini was always full of surprises. Some pleasant, some not. Josh clutched her petite hand a bit tighter before she withdrew from the group and stormed off. It was a reminder that the boy was present. If she needed comfort he would always be there for her.

Josh gave a brief nod at Ebony recognizing her presence. Alas, someone else required his full attention. “You have way of making Namini upset,” Josh huffed at David. Any kindness left in his expression was dead. A deep frown was etched on his lips and he spoke with venom in his words, hoping to dissolve David’s cocky and overly charming façade. “So it seems like all you know how to use is your fists?” He popped his neck agitatedly as if egging on the older man to make a move. Namini was not serving as just David’s restraint in this ‘little tiff’. As much as Josh would prefer to stay out of a fight with David and spare what few brain cells he had left, he couldn’t bear to see Namini saddened by her brother. “How do you want to settle this?”
PostPosted: Fri Jun 20, 2008 9:58 pm

((Sand n Stuff))

Her eyes grew wide at the sudden and unpredicted action of the girl. If she hadn’t known better, she would have thought that maybe Namini was his girlfriend after all. A smack like that was only used, as she’d ever seen it, on the ever cheating boyfriend. Yet, she couldn’t say she knew how their relationship dynamic was, so Ebony couldn’t and shouldn’t draw conclusions as to why she’d hit her brother.

Once the girl had left, Ebony had hoped that the younger man would venture after her. Alas, this was not the case. ‘Stupid boys…always having to prove how manly there are…’ Having grown up in the dojo with only boys as classmates and sparring partners, Ebony knew all too well how these kind of things could go. And from the sound of it, this one would be bad since they’d already mentioned something about a previous scuffle. If they hadn’t worked it out in that one, this one would only fan the flames.

Casual like and obviously not threatened by doing so between two hotheaded males, the British woman slipped before Josh and David. “It’s already settled. Do you two wish to upset Namini more than you already have?” She didn’t really give them time to answer this, but could probably guess their answers. “No, I think not. So, one of you needs to be a grown up and step away now while the other goes to comfort the girl.” Her eyes looked to them both then with blade-like intensity. “Do I make myself clear?” It wasn’t really a question; she expected them to say yes.

((Sand n' Stuff)

David's eyes didn't even trail after the tormented girl, but looked Ebony in the eyes with his remaining confusion. Ignoring the words spilling from the infuriated boy, David closed his eyes heavily and released a shaky sigh. Suddenly speaking, his voice remaining as serious and inquisitive as ever, he asked with his eyes on the purple haired lady, "...What is my sister to you?" The question was clearly directed at the other, clearly aggressive male.

David cracked a knuckle in preparation if things did get ugly. Didn't matter that there was a dangerous woman between them, attempting to calm their boiling nerves. If he wanted to, this Asian male would politely push the woman aside and once again, beat the crap out of Josh. But time ticked away, eventually forcing David to calm as before. Opening his eyes, with a mocking grin on his face, he raised his grey eyes back to Josh, purring teasingly, "Go on. You heard her. Scat. Shoo."

Then allowing his seriousness to return for a moment, he growled threateningly, though David seemed to hint at an awkward respect, "Comfort her in a time when I cannot."

Somewhere else on the beach, Namini poured her frustration out childishly. Digging like a badger, and stacking the dirt into mounds like a beaver, she was somewhere building a sandcastle in which she would later crush, thinking it was her brother's face.
