Thats true. Just because we speak English, doesn't mean we like it.

Athran That depends on pronouncation. Personally, I say fan-tast-ik where there' no French '-que' sound and the German 'deck' in phonetic was dɛk. I fail to see your view. I never claimed to like English that much, but it's the only language I'm 100% fluent in. But what does it matter? You have your opinion, I have mine and everyone else has their own. I'm not prepared to get in an arguement over it, so I'll leave it at that. No one likes everything. It's easy. No one says ma-nii-fi-que . It's ma-nii-fik And the sound 'k' at the end of the word is pronounced the exact same way as this german word, for example.

I actually think Ukranian is pretty. Maybe not the type of pretty you normally think of, in which case my answer would be French, but it has a nice ring to it, in my opinion. biggrin

Red August ·:I know what your point was but that's just you're opinion and, since there's no way to prove someone's intentions, it will never be anything more than an opinion.
And no, German pronunciation is nothing like French unless you're saying a French loanword like "tschau" or "pommes frites". German doesn't have a French J or a French G. It lacks a lot of what French has and vice-versa. There's no way you could associate the two from anything but Latin. After you leave the Latin branch the similarities end completely. One's a Germanic language and one's a Romance language. There's no comparison. (fact, not opinion)
Oh, and "Deck" is an English loanword. It's not really German.
Lessons to be learned: •Think before you type. •Don't blindly and aggressively defend something just because someone doesn't like it. Opinions are opinions and they'll differ from yours many more times in the future. That's something the younger (and younger-acting) members of this guild need to realize.·:Red August No. There are many common pronounciations in German & French . Don't forget that the franks were a germanic people... The 'r', for example, the german 'ü' or 'u' are , if not written the same way, pronounced exactly the same as in French . Or ä/è etc etc By the way, two languages that have common roots such as Spanish and French ,can be , phonetically, extremely different . I was talking of pronounciation . And I wasn't acting agressive :/
Eccentric Iconoclast : XD That's just the usual stereotyp, I know I might be like that, [ well, it's rather that I try to understand why people don't like it ] but actually the biggest majority doesn't think like that :/ They just don't care xD

·:You know... you are being aggressive whether you realize it or not. You're not letting anyone express their opinion without calling them out on it and acting like they're Satan for doing so.
This has gone too far so I'm ending it right now. There's no reason to continue this any further. I'm not even going to give my full opinion of those ridiculous statements you just made. I'm not even sure what your motive was for all that harsh criticism and destruction and frankly, I don't want to know.
It's over.
It's done with.
Drop it, please.

Swahili is interesting. I like the idea of the noun classes n' all that. Though I've never heard it spoken, so can't say much about its prettiness. I'd love to learn it, but time is not on my side.

Drop it, please. Uuuh it's not criticism, I'm trying to understand why people don't like it , that's all. I don't mind their opinions, it's just that I've been wondering lately if that wasn't a way to express a desire of originality.
And my statements weren't ridiculous, I think I know a bit more than you about German since I've been learning it for 10 effin years and that I live at Germany's border.
Anyways, you are right. It's getting ridiculous.
