As blaster bolt smashed into the chair near him, Avor swore under his breath "****ing artificial reflexes..."

It would be best if he just left the Jedi to deal with the metal monstrosity, the innocent people in the bar were important, he began helping them out.

((okay. and for those reading along, note that bob's family consists of a wookie, a twilek, and a zabrak.))

Nodding, Bob thought for a while before speaking again,if she was force sensitive, well, whatever this force is, it must be the cause of this. but why me? she said this hasn't happened before, so perhaps I am also one of these 'force sensitives'. however this would have to be a rare trait, becuase this didn't happen between me and any of my family. well, either that, or my friend here has blocked out memories of similar happenings.

" well, since you said this hasn't happened before, and your 'force sensitive' maybe it means that I am as well 'sensitive' which would account for this strange dream sharing, eh?" with a laugh, Bob sits back against one of the trees, " in any case, this is a rather nice dream, it's full of rich colors and wonderful scenery, its pleasant to say the least, and relaxing..."

"Thank you and I suppose that dream sharing is a possible explanation. I've researched Jedi a few times and I think there was something like this mentioned." Natalia said with a smile as the landscape shifted, its geography and plant life changing somewhat and buildings with fantastic architecture cropping up. A few moments latter more shifts occurred but like the first it was a gentle, fluid change that didn't affect the clearing. Natlia however was affected as her dress changed into her normal attire, though her hair became long enough to reach her lower back.
Without thinking about it a chair came into existence as she sat down to think about what was going on more carefully. "Though if that is the case that would make this one of our subconscious's. Probably mine since I recognize most of the things here."

Bob stands and stares as the changes happen all around him, as they finish, he nods in agreement with Natalia's statement, " so....if this is your subconcious it would make sense as to why you can affect things...nice style of hair by the way, it looks good on you." After pausing for a few moments, he continues, " well, whatever caused this to happen isn't really relevant at the moment, it's happened, and it's quite nice. and since this is a dream it would mean our bodies are resting, so it's like free time to talk without wasting time that we could spend working on things...." after scratching his head he says, " wait...that didn't quite come out right....I mean, it's like extra time that is for communication only, like having to wait for water to boil, or for something to finish cooking."

"Don't worry, I understand what you mean. I've never liked talking more then I have to when I'm working." Natalia said with a smile.
"The other kids used to tease me for acting like a droid when I was a kid...They never did figure out that that's not an insult to me." She added, shaking her head and laughing a little.
" So, what is it you'd like to talk about?" Natalia asked, looking at Bob expectantly. Despite quite a bit of natural curiosity asking personal questions was not something she did normally because it tended to make people uncomfortable when she did. So she felt it best to let him lead the conversation.

Bob shrugs, and thinks for a while before speaking up once more, " why did you take me in the day we met? I mean, all those other people seemed to veer away from me like I had the plague, or look at me like I was nuts."

"I'm not really sure..." Natalia said, the chair becoming a platform beneath her as she crossed her legs and tried to think about it.
"You just seemed nice and like you needed help. Plus your kind of like me which is rare...I guess I was lonely to but thats nothing new." Natalia stopped and started thinking again, which was proving oddly difficult. She kept running into closed off memories and area's of thought, which she ignored when awake but were distracting her now that she was aware of them.
"I guess to summarize it you could just say 'because I like you'. It was rather impulsive now that I think about it but I don't regret it." She said with a shrug. Despite her outwardly cold and logical demeanor she had a habit of doing things like that.

With a smile, Bob nodded, " well, that's good to know. now its your turn to choose a topic, or ask a question. I mean, otherwise it will wind up with me questioning you the entire time." with a brief chuckle, Bob looked back at her, waiting for her reply.

"Who made the original program for you datapad? I've been curious about that since I got to see the core programming." Natalia asked as another more technology oriented shift occurred. She also wanted to ask about some theories she had about his background but since it seemed to be a one for one system they could wait. The data pad was the more pressing issue in her mind.

With a smile Bob replies, " My uncle billy.....er...sorry, he told me to call him by his alias if I ever met someone else, uh....lets see..." After scratching his head for a few minutes, Doc continues, " I think he said his alias was ' hackmaster beezleflitz' or some silly thing like that, anyway, he's the one who taught me how to program, and he helped me fix the computer systems on my ship. if nothing else he's probably trying to make a out-do himself again." with a chuckle, Bob looks to natalia and says, " okay, my turn...." after scratching his head for a while, Bob speaks up once more," alright, my next question is this: what was life like growing up on a planet with such an abundance of technology?"
PostPosted: Tue Dec 06, 2005 2:38 pm

"Well, in most of the basic ways its the same as any other world. The major differences are how people make a living, views on technology itself and in upper income house holds the family dynamic can also be affected. Sentient beings aren't used for physical labor and many raw materials are shipped here for processing while our own production of such materials is very low." Natalia said as she continued thinking, trying to come up with a coherent answer.
"The major exception is are service industries. Most restaurants employ live servers and cooks because its a widely held belief that Droids are incapable of replacing people in this capacity because of a lack of certain senesces and the ability to truly understand the data when they have them. Essentially meaning a droid wont know when something is over cooked.
Most people work in more management or design oriented fields, leaving actual manufacturing to droids. There are also some obvious differences in available transportation methods which increases the accessibility of just about anything. If you dont have a speeder, you can take a taxi, if you dont want to or cant afford a taxi you can ride public transit ect. Its a simple thing to go just about anywhere on the plant if you want to." She paused again as memories of her childhood came welling up. Almost all of them were painful so it took her a moment to gather her thoughts again.
"As for its effect on families, it can cause a certain amount of distance because its not expensive purchase a caretaker droid and just leave your children with them. However thats nothing new, as I understand it this occurs on many worlds though on the less technology advanced ones I've heard people offer such services instead of droids." She paused again then smiled.
"Well that may or may not have been helpful, ask me anything you still want to know on the topic. I won't count them as separate questions since my answer wasn't exactly the best." She said and ran a hand over the top of her head and laughed at herself. Explanations had never been her strong point.

Blinking, Doc bob just stared at Natalia, " your kidding? leaving a child in the care of an automaton? I mean, no offense but that seems cold....no amount of proggraming could account for the variables of a small child, let alone a baby. and unless there is some way to give that automaton the a warm and soft outer layer, well....where would all the hugs a child needs come from? now that I hear that I'm actually rather glad I was raised by my aunt and uncles, even if we were the only ones on the planet....." with a short laugh and a sigh, Bob continues, " but I doubt you want to hear about how I grew up...."
PostPosted: Tue Dec 06, 2005 3:54 pm

"Actually I would." Natalia said and sighed. "I was raised by a droid, from the age of four at any rate, and I've never had a friend before so I'm kind of curious." She said with honest intrest. She had loved Millie like a mother but she knew most people weren't raised that way and was curious about the diffrences.

Blinking, Doc Bob collected his thoughts, " well, I was born on the ship 'shard's luck', at least I think I was born there....at any rate, when it crashed 15 years ago on what came to be our home, I was about 3 years old.....and I have no idea what life was like before then, or what my biological parents looked like, but that's kind of irrelevant. anyway....after finding themselves to be the only people on the planet, my aunt and uncles raised me, we hunted, farmed, and uncle billy was able to fix up enough of the ship's mess area, er...what was left of it, to make it a pretty reliable kitchen. when I wasnt learning from uncle billy about the ways computers worked and how what tech we had fit together and worked, I was being taught survival skills from my aunt maud, or, after dinner I would listen as the three of them, my uncle jak, uncle billy, and aunt maud all told stories of thier adventures. later, when I was about 8 or so, I began to realize that they were....well, kind of unhappy about our predicament, so after searching through the wreckage and what was left of our ship's database, I was able to come up with a way to ease thier woes, I think it's called psycho-therapy or some such. anyway, from that point on I acted as their uh....whats the word....therapist. and by the time wanderlust took hold of me, they were pretty happy with where they were...anyway, growing up with them was nice...I mean, I had most of my educational wants satisfied, I didn't go hungry, except that one time....but that was because of a freak weather happening, anyway, except for the need to explore space, to see what all the planets in this galaxy are like, I was pretty well content." Taking a breath, Bob continued, " around five years ago however, I began to look at what we had, and I wanted to see if I could at least make something out of it. my ship is the product of that, 5 years of near sleepless nights, working out as many kinks as possible before putting them into action, so that I wouldn't blow anything up that I couldn't replace....anyway, that's more of an explanation of why my ship is scrap heap than what my life growing up was like."
PostPosted: Tue Dec 06, 2005 4:29 pm

"It's still interesting and tells me quite a bit. I don't think I ever saw my father except for a hand full of times if we weren't going to some function or event. He paraded me and my sister around like prized pets but he never spent any real time with us, let alone what it would have taken to educate us properly." Natalia sighed and shrugged, not really sure how to explain her situation.
"But he's always been that way as far as I know. One of my relatives told me he used to be different before my mother died but she didn't say in what way and I have no way to confirm it. Not that it would really matter, he is what he is." She said a little sadly, the wound was an old one and though it would probably never heal she had learned to cope with it years ago.

with a somber look, bob replied," how sad...maybe he needs some therapy? I mean, if his attitude changed that much it may be a matter of pointing out the needs of those who are still around, instead of letting him focus on those he's lost." shaking his head, Bob continued, " anyway, how about we change the subject to something less....sad. um...can you think of anything?"
