So you're basically going to create the FFA forum all over again and put a bunch of hard work into something that will be doomed because of people's laziness, elitism, and unwillingness to move into a new area away from their zone of comfort?
No, the FFA was flawed because it was plagued by dickbags like Ertai and was solely made with the intent of constantly attacking one another. The entire subforum was driven by people's egos and IC attacks. There's not really a whole lot in common with the FFA and this idea, from what I know if the FFA during my stint in it.
The Mainstream has nothing to do with that ideal, it's solely a loose recognizance of a shared world where all the threads exist together in the same canon. As in, if you were to take a map and put a dot for thread A, you could feasibly draw a line along the map and find thread B. And things that happen in the world - tournaments, a bar closing or being destroyed, deaths, storylines arcs, one shot events such as Unity - would all be recognized as having happened.
It has nothing to do with the way the FFA worked, because the intent is entirely different. The FFA was competition-centric and basically exactly what the name described, the Mainstream is more of a concept of sharing the same creative space to create a larger world and allowing for different kinds of threads to pop up. It's a means to facilitate roleplay by allowing threads to interact with one another both directly and indirectly by being fellow signatories of the Mainstream charter.
That took a lot longer to post because my net died.
