"He seemed sweet," Maia said, and smiled at Dari. "I liked him." Oh, what'd he taken Dari to see? But it seemed he wasn't telling, at least not in detail.
"Maybe every couple hours, so we know you're alright," Maia added.

"He is," Dari said, "and don't you think it'd be just a little strange for a grown man to be checking in with his brother during dates."
Toby nodded. "We don't want to get into 'weird family dynamic' territory. It's weird enough."

Maia considered that, and frowned slightly. Probably. But she didn't like idea of Dari being out alone--Cody was alright, but what about when he started dating other guys? Would they be just as sweet?

Toby wrapped an arm around Maia. He imagined all parents went through this sort of worry when their child started exploring the world alone. Dari wasn't legally their child, though, and so it'd undoubtedly seem a bit odd to a human outside the circle. He kissed her temple. Dari was smart. He wouldn't get himself into any sticky situations. It was just hard to resist the urge to make sure.

It'd been planned for a while, Kevin's first trip into town. The kelpie was terribly excited, he'd even decided to leave his 3ds home for the day. He had his phone though, in case he got separated from the agents taking him.
"What store will we go to first?" he asked. "Do you have a favorite store, agent werewolf?"

Toby laughed. For all the world he looked neither like an agent nor a werewolf.
"Please don't call me that in public," he said, and then added: "Not really. It's all about you today, we go here you want to go, with the exception that we do have to buy you some clothes." And maybe some hair products.
Toby climbed into the driver's seat and Dari into the back, letting Kevin have shotgun.

Darn. That meant he probably had to call the werewolf by his name. "Alright, Toby," he agreed. "But as soon as we're back, you're Agent Werewolf again." Clothes? Lame! "Can we go to the arcade?" he asked. "What other places are there?"
He'd never been before. He climbed in next to Toby. "When can I learn to drive a car?"

"Thank you," Toby said with a nod. He could deal with his nickname at HQ, but it was just a little too ridiculous in the public eye. "And sure, after we've done everything we have to do we can do the things you only want to do."
"Once you're reading well enough for textbooks we can send you off to Driver's Ed. You learn about driving in some span on months, get some practice, and then you can get your license." And boy would all of the agents be happy about not having to tote him around any more.

Bleh. They had to go clothes shopping. Why couldn't there be some magical tailor at HQ that made clothes shopping unneccesary? "Fine," he agreed. "But then we have to do whatever I want."
"I'll keep practicing." Reading was hard, but driving would be worth it. "What clothing store, then? Can we stay all day?"

"Whatever you want within the laws of the state and country, yes," Toby said with a grin. Teenagers. They certainly were something of their own.
"There are all sorts of clothing stores in the mall," Dari said, leaning up with an elbow on the shoulder of either of the front seats. "You can choose the one you like the best and we can shop there. As for our schedule, we have until eight o'clock to get back." Which might mean overtime!

Bleh. Laws were just rules you got in bigger trouble for breaking. He didn't feel particularly inclined to cause trouble though, especially for his favorite agent.
"Really?" Kevin looked back to Dari and smiled. Eight was a long time from now. Great! That was enough time to shop for clothes, and do something fun.

"Isn't a mall a huge building with everything inside?" Kevin asked. "Oh, can we try something that's not pizza? I'm kind of sick of it." One could only eat so much pizza before you started to hate it.
"We'll go through town too? What's there to do in town?"

Shopping for clothes was like pulling teeth, and Dari seemed slightly discouraged by the kelpie's choices. Kevin clearly didn't give two shits about what was fashionable or flattering, so once they found a size that fit in a style, they pulled several of the same. Toby was losing patience, but eventually it was time to go exploring again, and the group was on a beeline for the arcade. It was by one of the entrances, presumably for parents to drop their bored kids off at so they could go shopping. It was obviously meant for older kids as there were no tickets or prizes to be had, just games that took quarters.
