*Chris looked back. Cassie was walking off with Grayson. Unbelievable. How many times did he go to her in her time of need? The one time he needs her more than anyone else in the world and she walks off d**k Grayson. Chris slammed his way into his dorm room and threw himself on the bed.*
Maybe some music will help.
*Chris grabs his laptop and sticks in the CD that Lisa gave him. He rips the music and loads it on to his MP3 player. Laying back with the MP3 player, Chris closes his eyes and listens to the music.*

Cassie and d**k went behind the gym and into the room behind the supply closet. The hangout for the Outsiders. She noticed someone there she had never seen before.. a ghost girl. d**k and Cassie changed into their outfits then came back out to where the others were.
"Wondergirl this is Secret." "Hello.. So Nightwing... What's the mission?'" The Church for Human Purity is stronger then we thought and now the government's been secretely kidnapping meta-humans and mutants and trying to use them as weapons. Secret escaped from one of their facilities.'
Secret then spoke up.
"Most of them are just kids like me and we're often subjected to all sorts of experiments." "That's horrible." " So we're going to break them out. Co'mon Outsiders."
With that the Outsiders left on their mission.

*Raph sat in a nearby temple, trying to meditate. Not really his sort of thing. Leo was all about that oldschool stuff. That didn't mean he didn't try.*
I can't believe I'm saying it, but I actually kinda miss the others.
*Mikey's voice rang out from seemingly nowhere.*
Awwwww, ain't that special? He misses us, guys! Well, I got good news for ya!
*Followed by a more serious, and very strained voice.*
Master Splinter is of the opinion that we, too, could benefit from learning at this place.
I hope they at least have a good tech program.

Alone in the Music Room, Professor Mel O. Dee looked out the window, upon the part of town neighboring the school‘s grounds…and sighed, shaking his head at it. The weather was darker, colder…sadder. The urge to sing out and make things a bit more glamorous…wasn’t there. He looked to his left, looking upon the School’s Paper, showing his oncoming debate between himself...and Emma Frost.
But it wasn’t that which had him in such a mood, oh no, nothing so vain. He lifted the flyer in hand, looking at the time and address of the Church of Humanity big ole “church revival“…and scowled. He reached into a pants pocket and removed a, of course, purple and green cell phone and after a few moments of searching in his call list until he found exactly who he was looking for. He looked around the darkened music room…and called. It took a few rings, but the line picked up…and a voice from the past answered
“Hello, Mister Dee…or isn’t it Professor, now?”
“Yes…Its been a long time, hasn’t it?”
“Yes it has…but I can tell this isn’t a social call…what can I do for you?”
“I can’t talk over the phone…you never know who will be listening in…but…there is something I need your help with.”
“Hmmm…I know you’ve followed my example, and turned over a new leaf of sorts, Dee, and I can see the merit in what you’re doing, for what you do for the children. So…this is not another one of your old schemes, is it?”
“No no, its not, honestly, I’ve put my past behind me and I want nothing but the best for the students, to make them live life to the fullest…as After School Special as that sounds but…something’s happening in this town, that I can’t do anything about. Something…that only you would be suited for…so…how fast can you get here…?”
“But I’m already here, Dee…” said that same voice, but from right behind Dee, making the professor spin…and watch as a figure stepped out from the shadows…and The shadow that was Richard Swift smiled back at the surprised Professor, tipping his hat to him. “Now tell me…what can The Shade, do for you?”

*Televisions all over Midvale and Hero High pick up the incoming special news report.*
This is Lucy Berkley reporting live from Midvale for CNN. Representatives for the Church For Human Purity arrived last night in the town of Midvale. They spent their day today gathering the proper forms to stage a protest in the town square and procuring lodging for the protesters. The head of the delegation is lead by a district attorney from New York, Grace Powell. Earlier we had an opportunity to speak with Mrs. Powell about the Church and what it's doing in Midvale.
We understand you've filling out the paperwork for the Church's protest. Has a date been set yet?
Oh, no. The Midvale city council will let us know when we may stage the protest.
There seems to be some unrest among the citizens of Midvale over the protests. The consensus is that they enjoy Hero High being here.
Well, I'm sure there are a block of citizens for the school just as there is a block against the school.
I understand you have a son enrolled at the school?
No. I don't.
Christopher Powell?
This interview is over!
Mrs. Powell refused to speak to us after that. Hero High has issued a statement saying they cannot reveal personal information about students enrolled at the school.
Meanwhile, a CNN poll among the citizens of Midvale show there is a vast majority in favor of the school. Ninety-three percent of people polled said they enjoyed being home to Hero High.
We'll have more coverage of the Church For Human Purity's planned protest later. This is Lucy Berkley, CNN, reporting.

Professor Mel O. Dee was still scowling as he turned the television off after the news interview with Mrs.Powell came to an abrupt end. Inside his personal office, the Professor looked to his darkened guest, who nodded while sitting back in one of the uncomfortable orange plastic covered chairs all schools seemed to have in plentiful stock, and yet he could sit in it with such unnatural grace. He too was frowning, but not as deep as the Music Teacher.
"I see the problem...The Church of Humanity. Their name raises quite a displeasing odor, even among people you and I once called friends...and given their widened if constricted view on all people with special talents, they would be something to be met with equal scorn on both sides of justice and...well, you know..."
"Yes...but it makes me sick, physically ill to see that kind of thing parked outside...I mean, its 2011, and seeing those...those...those bigots out there, its like some one threw back the whole town into some time warp, and now the bible-thumping KKK are out there, ready to lynch whatever their so-called God deems evil and demonic, just because ITS DIFFERENT!...And no one is stopping them!" spat Dee, who, with his back turned to his guest, stood their, quaking with rage...but began to take deep breaths, and rub at his eyes, his glasses set aside for the first time since he'd come to this school but could not bear to meet them, not now.
"And you want to be the one to do that...Don't you Dee?"
"I do...for the love of G-...for the love of whatever chances to glance at us, I want to so badly...but I can't. For one, as a teacher at this school, I can't. Because of what Mister Wayne has ordered of us, and because...look, I pretend to be this one-man band who can't take anything seriously, not for one minute, and makes life seem like a Tony-Winning Broadway Show all the time...all because of my gifts. You know what I am, don't you?"
The Shade nodded, not pausing at all, and without an ounce of emotion behind it.
"You're a mutant, Professor Dee."
"Exactly. I mean, it doesn't take too much thought to figure this out...I mean, after all, how come only I can reach notes which can influence the human mind? Why no one else? Its statistically impossible...no, improbable. Improbable like more then one mutant having the same powers. It could happen and...and it has. I've met others with powers like mine, blessed with voices so powerful and full of life you can't help but sing alongside them...I've seen these kids, I've watched their teachers, and all of them have such potential, such beauty such...such...but it doesn't matter. Not when people like them"
"The Church, you mean"
"Yes. The Church, as they like to call it. You know...I don't know about you, but if Jesus were to suddenly come down and show his miracles to this lot, how much would you like to bet that he'd not be met with bows and blessings...but torches and new crosses to bear. And if not him, someone's going to pay. I know how this will end. This Church has brought a taint with them, and suddenly, everyone's feeling the pressure, and its going to get worse and worse, its going to build and build until finally...someones going to do something really really really stupid. And it won't be one of them. It won't be one of the teachers, or the parents. It will be a student...and..."
When he turned to the Shade, he was found with tears in his eyes, but the eyes which those tears flow from, fire burned within them.
"And I will not allow this to happen...not when breath still flows from my lungs and blood beats from this heart...I've made mistakes, and have many sins to my name, but these kids have yet to do anything to deserve what these people are planning, in the end...I'd rather let them take me"
"Then why can't you help your students yourself, Dee...these you seem to bear such care for? It is hard for me, of all people, to not notice that you clearly care for them...you're weeping for some stranger's children like that. You have changed..."
"I can't...I just can't. If I step off from my path, become a criminal again, I will have sabotage everything I've helped build here. I may be a silly little man in ridiculous costumes and with ludicrous powers, but when I sing, I don't just make people feel the way I want them to feel...this is not a one way street. When they sing with me, or sing because of me...I feel their emotions, their passion, their secrets...and Richard, oh if you only knew some of the things these kids are feeling right now...This Church will push them, push them until they push back...or just collapse within themselves. Nowadays, I sing to make things better, not for myself, but for everyone who needs it. This school is my second chance...but this is not the time for songs...this is the time for you..."
The Shade nodded...and rose up from his seat, the room growing a bit darker, a bit deeper...and Dee could not help but feel they weren't the only two beings in the room anymore.
"I understand, Dee...and I accept what you ask of me. I too feel something dark here...and what better thing to deal with the dark, then someone who not only lives with it...but is also the master of it? Do not worry, old friend...I will not let these false prophets lay any harm on any of the innocent...and if I fail in that..."
It was his turn to remove his glasses...and when he looked back at Dee, pure empty voids of stared back
"...Then these "Purifiers" of Light...will find that the light that burns twice as bright, burns half as long...but also casts some very very dark shadows indeed..."
The Shade slowly stepped back...and Dee watched as if his old friend slowly faded against the background, as if the darkness welcomed him...and in fact it did. A cold tingle ran up his spine...and the Professor took a deep breath, wiping his tears before putting his glasses back on, leaving himself to his own secret pain...and tried to think of song to raise his spirits...
But for the life of him, he could not even think of one...

The mission last night was long. But the Outsiders forfilled there objective in releasing mutants unfairly imprisoned by the government.Cassie got to bed late and had to wake up early. The young girl met Professor Grayson at dawn's first light on top of the gym. There the two of them practiced Tai chi for about two hours. Afterwards they took a walk though one of the gardens...
"You did very good. These exercises that I'm showing you will help you control your temper. I know since Ares things have been difficult and that you've found it hard to talk to anyone. I want you to know I'm here for you and that I've been where you're at. We all make mistakes but it's what we do about it afterwards that counts."
" Thank you d**k. It's just I'm always so indecisive and it seems like I can never make up my mind. I want to be close to my friends and boyfriend but I'm afraid so I keep everyone at a distance. I need this. I need to make peace with myself but it's harder then it seems. I don't want my anger to consume me."
d**k nodded and with that Cassie and d**k went their separate ways and Cassie went off to her dorm to get ready for classes ... Little did she know not to far away Mary Batson saw her walking with d**k. Mary didn't hear what they were talking about nor did she bother to find out. All she knew it was very early in the morning and d**k and Cassie seemed to be very close.
"OMG!? Is Cassie dating a teacher?"

*Chris had a restless sleep. All dreams had Lisa Snart in them. He was Han Solo and she was Princess Leia. He was a WW2 pilot on leave and she was a nurse who worked at the base. One dream even had him knocking on Cassie's door and Lisa answered it. Naked.
To top it off, people were staring at him and whispering. They must have heard about his mother. God, this was going to be a miserable day. At least Wayne had returned his amulet.
He trudged to the cafeteria and sat alone in the back to eat.*

*Dani walks into the Cafe, with two paper bags in her hand. Cheerily she walks up to Chris and his table and dums on it loudly. Sitting across she smiles*
"Hey Chris! I heard you were feeling blue, so ditch that old Cafe food and join me for a belly buster form Zinda!"
*Hands him one of the sandwitches.*
"And in case that doesn't work... Texas hot chili Fries!"
*She didn't know why she was trying to feed him to help make him feel better... never worked on her. But she hoped he would eat something depression is never easy.*

*Chris scowled at some girls who were passing by and pointing.*
I had a really bad night. Couldn't sleep well. My dreams were....weird.
*He wasn't about to tell Cassie's best friend that all his dreams featured another girl.

Thanks, Dani. Wally and Cassie were with me last night before they both ditched me.
*Chris was still steamed about Cassie skipping off with Mr. Grayson.*
Wally is acting weird. His skin is freezing and he talks like a TV evangelist. Uniting people and stuff.
*More people were staring at Chris and pointing. Ugh. Could this get any worse?*

"And yeah Wally did say he was trying to bring people together... But I thought he just feel lonely with the whole blind thing. Like he wasn't the surrounded by people so he's not so alone."
*She shifted here eyes to where he was looking... oh, those jerks..* *She wasn't about to let that happen.* *Standing up she shouts.*
"Hey! Quit It! So what if his mom's a b***h so are yours! So grow up and shut up!"

*Raph wandered into the cafeteria. He was trying his damnedest to ignore Mikey's annoying, and constant questions. At least it was JUST Mikey right now. Sure, he missed his brothers a couple of days ago, but . . . yeah. A little of 'em went a long way.*
*Don had adapted the best, and he was off somewhere, taking advantage of the various labs around the school. Leo . . . well. He was busy sparring with all of the new fighters that he could.*
*Raph sighed a little bit.* I don't know, Mikey. I ain't been here all THAT long in the first place. It ain't like I'm Mr. Popular, y'know?
