::As his feet bounded from branch to branch, the wood began to feel the slightest bit familiar. It was his old home. The crimson orbs bounded from one branch, and down to the forest floor, the leaves crackling as his left knee touched the ground in turn with his right foot. Picking up some dirt in his well wrapped hand, he sifted it through his fingers, the crimson hell of his eyes luminating slightly in nostalgia. Smirking Kenji dropped the and and stood up turning around 360 degrees remembering all there was to remember in his old home. His eyes twitched slightly as he heard the crackling leaves way off to his left, maybe 10 or so kilometers over his left shoulder. Contact might be nice. Chuckling, he dissipated into the darkness, reappearing on a branch ready to leap onto the next timber. It took him a matter of five minutes no more to track down the girl. He hopped from one branch lowering himself to another to get a closer view of the woman. She was strong, very strong. He wasn't sure whether he liked it or not, but her presence was felt. He knew most likely she would be able to notice his appearence, so he no longer hid. Hopping down to the floor effortlessly, he leaned against the tree he was most recently occupied in. With a curl of his lips his crimson eyes gazed as the girl fabricated the rose out of the air. He tapped the tree lightly with his right hand as if to notify the girl he wasn't hiding.::
Do you regularly take walks in isolation? Or are you here for another reason.
::Kenji's crimson rubies played across her golden locks momentarily before presiding to entertain himself with his own energy. Holding his hand out before him he circled his right index finger playfully through the air, A small almost unnoticeable ball of black energy formed on his finger tip. Smiling, he rolled the ball between his fingers as it grew slightly to a golf ball's size. Closing his hand, he opened it again and there he presented himself with an ebony piece of onyx. Smirking he tossed it in the air lightly, grabbing it with his left hand, closing his fist on the stone, he opened it again and there was the black ball of his aura. Sighing he squeezed his fist and the ball dispersed, flowing back into his main aura, impossible to see with the human eye..::

A large creature thrumped through the forest, ignoring the pricker bushes that stabbed it's over sized feet and the scratching of thorn vines against it's muscular body. Metal plates grated against one another as the creature moved it's arm to push aside a small sappling, the wood giving way with little trouble. Standing at a staggaring seven foot, six inches, this creature commanded a powerful presence with it's barrel chest, massive shoulders, and arms as thick as most men's calfs! Belted around it's waist it displayed a crude, battered, longsword that looked way too old for combat uses. On it's back it held three weapons, the first was a claymore. It could only be a claymore since only the sword's handle and point jutted out from under the second weapon. The second weapon looked to be more like a shield then a weapon, but lined with razors and studded with massive spikes this shield was built more to destroy then to defend. The third weapon was a massive battle axe, dwarfing even the largest of axes held in human hands. Double bitted, with grooves etched into it's blades to draw and capture blood, this weapon looked more monsterous than most men would dream of.
The creature itself was hidden, cloaked in shadows under the forest's dark, shadowy, canopy. And, on top of that, it was protected, both from sight and from weapons, by a solid layer of steel. A fearful sight for any normal soldier, but this was a land of abnormals. Soldiers could decemate entire armies with a single wave of their hands, bringing gods down to their knees. Yes, this creature would have to be very, very, careful.

A deer's head popped up as the sound of displaced air reached it's ear, at almost the same moment the heavy battle axe reached. Blood gushed as the axe cleaved straight through the deer's frail little body and into the dirt. Like an explosion the heavily armored creature burst through the undergrowth of the forest, a vicious snarl accompanied by the sound of gore. Blood squishing and splattering on the ground as huge hands reached over to grasp the still twitching deer in it's grip. Because of the way it had been killed the slushed, bloody, innards of the animal fell out of the corpse with a splosh.
Under the creature's heavy metal helm a smile grew wider. The body was still warm, and small bits of steam drifted up into the air. Unhooking the face plate from the helm the creature reached down and scooped the guts into it's hands. Blood, organs, dirt, and insects alike found themselves being devoured by the creature. Misformed, stained, teeth gnashed noisily as massive hands stuffed the carcass into a sack. Anything large enough to carry a deer, even if it was now hollowed out, was definately large enough to march around in a full suit of plate armor and wield any number of weapons. Intestines slurped up the creature's lips as it took it's axe back in it's hands and continued walking. It had one thought on it's mind. "Yum."

After some debating, lex had ended up like before.. wandering, but this time a bit more lost in thought, his pack hidden in some other little realm for conveniences sake, and just his swords on him, none of his fire arms on hand even, him just wandeirng as the intrestingly marked rabbit with the large design on his chest. why had it happened.. the dojo gone.. people, gone... he shook his head off dazily, long ears flipping a bit from side to side, his hand going to his eyes to rub them.. "why..'' hed sigh as he kept walking, trying to think of where to go after this... no home tor eally speak of anymore, and only lots of places where he was wanted in either the bad way, or just not liked for mischeviousness and what not.

Blood flowed, bones crunched, and innards squished. Powerful, steel clad, hands rent the bear in peices. It had been a pitiful challenge, hardly worth of the strength the creature could bring to bare. It had growled it's frustration, snapped a single bite at the creature's steel encased leg, and found itself dead for all it's effort.
Blood stained the battle worn armor crimson, as well as turning the dirt under the creature's feet to mud. It was an extreamly morbid way to go about getting it's meal, but it was oddly appealing to the creature. Like a human with a fetish for violance, the massive creature of steel and weapons savored the way the metalic liquid flowed through the breath slits on it's barbquet, the metalic helm that hid it's facial features, and cascaded down it's throat. It all but groaned it's approval of the way it's metalic fingers dug into the bear's husky body, drawing out the savory intestines of the once proud, powerful, animal.
Any power that the creature may have possessed paled in comparison to the pure, savage, raw strength that the creature of steel and weapons could apply in times of want. Need had very rarely been encroached upon, only it's want of death and destruction had ever really been showed.

As every abomination would enter the scene, and ravage the lands, Morrigan would simply pass on through.
She still donned Kobei's wear, and was having the time of her life. Litterally. As time passed, and as she started to reach the heart of the BC grounds, her hair would have grown in, thick and long.
She did not speak, for she had no one to speak with, unless a friendly bystandard would tell her the direction of Mastema's Citadel. It had been such a short, yet long time since Morrigan had a mind of her own. And this time, it would not be to cater to other's demands.

He slowly made his way through the very edges of the forest with a sense of unease eminating off of him. Earlier that day he had gone towards what he recalled to be the dojo's location since his last visit but he found it destroyed. He didn't like this at all.
He watched the trees carefully as he debated whether or not to take flight and get a better view of the surrounding area.

He froze mid-step as he heard a crack in the branches behind him. Slowly, he turned to see what it was.
There was a very small creature sitting on the branch that he could have sworn was the ugliest thing he had ever seen. They locked gazes and after several moments later it chirped at him before darting away.
Frankly, he had never seen an albino squirel before.

After traveling for several yards more he finally grew weary of the experience and stopped under a large willow.
He pulled down his canvas pack from his shoulders and set up tent.... letting a small fire simmer for a while before crawling in and allowing himself to drift off to sleep.

Pain....Hot blistering pain. Shooting through all parts of the body. And light. White hot light everywhere. Light so bright and hot, the sun paled in comparison. It was everything in the universe and nothing at the same time. Light and Dark thrown together; forming a vast emptiness that filled and expanded across the entire universe. It was a contradiction. A power so small that it was greater than the mightiest of men and most powerful of women. And in the center of this emptiness that filled everything, was a being. A man. Or rather, the remanents of a man.
"Where am I?"
"You've passed the trials."
"What? Who said that?! WHERE AM I?!"
Nothing. No response. No answer to the remains of what was once a man. The only thing he could hear was his echoes reverburating everywhere and no where at once. He could feel his body falling. Falling through light and darkness all at once. A swirl of all the colors and none. Then through the colors came a voice. It was a single voice yet held all the voices of all the worlds. It was both man and woman and yet neither at once. It was loud and echoed yet soft enough so that it could not disturb a lover.
"You have passed the trials."
"What....?
"The trials."
"What are the trials? Who are you?! WHERE AM I?!?!"
"The Trials are the Demon Trials. The Demon Trials from the Hell Dimension of Infernus; where you went to try your courage against the Demon Trials. And you succeeded. We are They. And you are in The Contradicion."
"The Demon Trials? Infernus? They? The Contradiction? Stop speaking in riddles!"
"No riddles. What we've spoken has already been said. You have been told all of this before. Now answer a question from us. Do you know who you are?"
"Ofcourse. I am...I am...I'm...."
But the man could not answer. He had no answer. His mind reeled. How could he not know who he was? As he fell he lashed out and tried to grasp at somthing. Anything. But there was nothing to grab in the light of darkness. Nothing to hold on to in this vast emptiness that took up all the space in the universe. And so he continued to fall.
"You're memories have been lost because you've been absorbed into the Contradiction."
"Contradiction....What is the Contradiction?"
"The Contradiction. The true meaning of the Contradicition would be lost to one of your race. Nor could we relate it to you, for if we did the sounds you would hear would shatter you from existance forever. So let us tell it to you in a way in which you will be capable of understanding. It is everything and nothing. Light and Dark all at once. It is the thing that spawns life and takes it away in the instant that never happened. It is the creation of the universe and it's utter destruction. It is the raging river of time to where time's ebb has stopped. The balance of the unbalanced. The Contradiction is the beginning and the end of the nothing that is everything."
"'The balance of the unbalanced'. The positive of each and everything's negative?"
"And the negative of nothingness's positive."
"How did I get here? And why am I here?"
"Infernus is a Hell Dimension within the Contradiction, as is everything else. Your Black Company also resides in the Contradiction."
"Black Company?"
"Precisely. You opened a portal to Infernus from the world of the Black Company in which you entered to take the Demon Trials."
"Infernus....The Demon Trials? I was a demon?"
"Precisely. Among other things. In your short life time that has spanned 4000 years, you have been A Human, A Demon, A Vampire, A Werewolf, A Half-Demon, and a Demonic-Vampire. Through numerous changes you've encompessed both the light and dark. The Contradiction. You were the middle. The Link. The Gray."
"The Gray?"
"Yes. That was also your name. Irvine Gray."
"Irvine...Gray?"
"Yes. Everything is connected to the Contradiction. You in particular. For you've changed sides so many times, the Gray built up inside of you. During the last part of the Demon Trials, the Gray inside you expelled its self from you and transported you to the Contradiction. In the process, Infernus was destroyed as was most of you, however the Gray managed to maintain your soul. Though what you once were you can no longer be."
"What I once was? Why was I at the Demon Trials?"
"You went to Infernus to take the Demon Trials and rid yourself of the Gray, as well as earn back somthing you longed for. Your Humanity."
"My humanity....Wait, I knew of the Gray?"
"Ofcourse. It was what destroyed your soul and gave it new life. Through your many changes you have lost your soul. The Gray was what destroyed it. But through different means, you gained it back. The Gray gave birth to your soul anew."
"So...I went to Infernus to regain my Humanity and rid myself of the Gray?"
"Precisely. You did it so you could never change sides again and the Gray would fade away and then you could live out whatever meager existance you wished."
"What are you? The They I mean? What are They?"
"They are us. We are They. The They are the beings that have transcended the planes of the mortal and immortal beings of each and every plane. The beings that have transced time and death to reach the Contradiction. They are the keepers of the Contradiction and it's incomprehendable power of everything and nothing. Because although the power of the Contradiction can never be gained by a single being, should someone ever attempt to reach the Contradiction without natural transcendence, they could inadvertently "shift" the Contradiction and change the nothingness into everything and the everything into nothing. Thus reshaping the existance of the Contradiction itself. We, the They, are here to prevent that."
"But what about me? How was I able to enter the Contradiction without the natural transcendence? And how have I not caused a shift?"
"Have you heard nothing we've been speaking of? It was the Gray. The moment you regained your humanity, that last change from evil to good was what made the Gray expell its self from you and transport you here. The Gray its self is in the center of the nothingness that is everything of the Contradiction."
"But you said the Gray was inside of me."
"Precisely. As we also said earlier, the Contradiction is within each and every being on every plane as well as the nothingness within the void of the abyss which extend across every plane. Therefore, the Gray also has a chance of appearing in each and every single being as well as in the abyss of nothingness. It appeared in you because you were a being that possessed enormous strength and potential. And your constant switching between light and dark was what made the Gray manifest its self within you."
"But what IS the Gray?"
"The Gray is simply the Balance of the Contradiction. It's neutrality. Whereas The Contradiction is the opposing forces of Light and Dark, the Gray is the coming of forces of Light and Dark. In a sense, the Gray is the Contradiction and the Contradiction is the Gray."
"But you've said-"
"What we have said is what you can handle. As we have also said, the true meaning of the Contradiction cannot be uttered for if we told you what the Contradiction was in its fullest, you would be shattered from existance. The thing you should take note of is that the Contradiction is just that; a contradiction in and of its self. The Contradiction of an existance of nothing and everything. And now is the time to send you back."
"Send me back?! Back where? I don't even know who I am or where I came from! You can't send me back!"
"We've told you your name, Irvine Gray. Or rather Verge Zenith as you changed your name to. Whatever you decide, you must go back. Your memories shall return to you over time once you return. But before you go, know this. You shall return not as a Human, nor a Demon. You shall return as a Keeper."
"A Keeper?"
"An immortal. Unable to die or succumb to disease. A being of the Gray. A Keeper of the Gray."
"A Keeper of the Gray?"
"Yes. A part of the Gray that you expelled is coming back with you."
"Now...where am I going back to?"
"To the Black Company. Now, farewell."
And as the echoes were first uttered and to the instant they faded away, the being was tossed into the vast abyss of everything. All the colors swiraled and twisted around the being in a dazzling array of lights that faded into black as the being fell. And as the being fell a portal erupted in the middle of the Black Company forest. A giant crimson portal tore a large opening in the earth and trees were uprooted and sucked in. Then all of a sudden a man fell through the portal on to the torn earth below. The portal then collapsed in upon its self and sealed its self shut forver. The man who had fallen from the portal slowly got to his feet and looked around with gold and silver eyes. His hair was black and silver and was shoulder length. The man looked down at his body and was quaintly surprised at how fit he was. He was naked but he would soon fix that. And all over his body, except for his face, there were gray glowing marks. They appeared to be tribal symbols, but he wasn't sure. He looked around at the surrounding forest area.
"Hmm....I guess I'm home."

"Now then...clothes..."
The man looked around his surrounding areas. Trees of several different varieties were all over the place. They were all green and in bloom. The man noticed several things about this new place that apparently had once been his home. It was then that a memory came to him. A memory of his past life. He remembered a cave. A cave that was dark, dank and cold. It was hidden by a waterfall. It was in the cave that he saw himself huddled up against the wall. The man shook himself from the memory and looked around. He didn't see a waterfall or any water for that matter. He couldn't hear any or smell any water for the life of him.
"It's getting cold...damn I could go for some pants."
And as he said this pants appeared. They were simple pants, made of wool. The man looked down surprised and confused. He blinked a few times and then felt the pants he wore. They were real. The man gave a slight grin.
"Intresting...how bout some casual jeans? And a black cotton shirt. I'll need some boots, fingerless gloves, and how bout a leather coat? Oh and somthin to tie my hair back would be nice."
Each time he said a new article of clothing his new tattoo's glowed and each new one appeared on his body. The jeans, the shirt, the gloves, the boots, the coat, and the hair-tie (which actually appeared in his hand so he could tie his own hair back). The man tied his hair back and looked around again. He was intrigued by his new tattoos and wondered what else he'd be able to do with them. But first, he felt the urge to go and look for somthing. Somthing was drawing his entire being to a location some ways away. So he turned towards that place and began his way there. To the Black Company Dojo, a place he'd unknowingly been several times before.

The massive creature that could be found roaming around in the shadows of the forest now looked for a new hunting ground. The inhabitants of the forest, those little woodland creatures he's found thus far, did little to quench the raging thirst for blood and battle that filled the juggernaught to near bursting. A low, warning, growl escaped the confines of the metal helm that confined Kronkz's hideous face as he began trudging forward. New hunting grounds, new prey. But first...he'd see what that strange glow on the horizon was.

His boots were dirty, he hated that. After walking along in the forest for so long it so happened that his boots would be covered in a light veil of dust and bits and pieces of earth. It was these trivial annoyances that really got to Arael, he would just so happen to be on his way and the littlest things made it all the more harder. He sighed, he didn't really know where he was going. He had no supplies at all and no will to travel. He was going nowhere. The tired young man placed his back against a nearby tree and sank to the ground where he'd take a short rest.
The sky passed lazily overhead. The clouds played their little cat and mouse games with each other, sometimes coalescing into one another and sometimes seperating. These gentle beings cast great shadows over the dense foilage and Arael, too, felt himself floating along in the sky. He was a cloud. Maybe he was high, who knows.
