During my time with HTRP I have noticed a large amount of whining about inactivity. I have a few thoughts about these complaints. I have to say that I am highly disappointed in you, the members of HTRP. You gripe and whine about inactivity when you don't post. Now, consider my point of view. As a long-time Crewmember and your Captain, most of the complaints are directed at myself and the crew. Mostly these are complaints about how we're not posting advances in the story, or how we're not there to keep the ball rolling, etc. We, as the crew, are not here to carry this guild by ourselves. I realise that has been the case for the last several story arcs. For example, beginning with the East Africa thread, Mike, Richard, and Myself have been the only ones really willing to consistently push the story forward. I understand that when a beloved RP goes silent it is disheartening, but let's look at the facts. The only reasons that Role Plays fail is because the members fail. HTRP is not just the collective short stories of Mike, Richard, and Ian, but a collection of Halo fans writing Halo fiction together. This is where you, as the members of HTRP come in.
You, the members, have a responsibility to post in the guild's role play thread. Some of you don't act because you don't know what is going on. That can be remedied by simply taking the time to read the thread or asking one of your fellow members. Some of you are not posting because you are waiting for Michael or myself to advance the story. Well the story for our current Role Playing thread is simple. Kill anything that isn't human. In the past this simple rule has allowed the more creative and inspired members of HTRP to write posts that not only entertain, but push the story forward through their efforts, not simply the efforts of one or two individuals. While Mike and I have a clear idea of where we want the story to go, how we get there is entirely up to you, the members. When we post to drive the story forward, it is done only to give the members more options. ZNK graciously volunteered to post as the major characters in our Harvest thread to drive the story forward and give all of you a chance to post. There is currently a conflict that will not be resolved only by Michael and I. HTRP needs YOUR input to survive, it needs YOUR creativity, and it needs YOUR activity.
If you cannot see the irony in your position I am sorry. You whine about inactivity and complain about a lack of posts when it would be the simplest thing in the world for you to post. When I decided to keep everyone from using established characters in the Harvest thread, I thought that the more free-form nature of the RP would allow you to create new scenarios from different viewpoints. Instead, that decision, which should have brought about a more free integration of characters and story, seems to have halted the thread. Now, I don't know if you are all just uninterested in killing the Covenant or aren't interested in HTRP aside from whining, but the remedy for this situation rests in your hands. All you have to do is post. That's it. It's so simple that it's nearly laughable. You have collectively shirked your responsibility to the guild by refusing to post, then mock yourselves by complaining about when others don't post.
In short, it's your turn to post. So post, don't complain about us not posting. You have just as much right to drive the plot forward as we do. If you want to throw in a plot twist or two, go ahead. Remember though, that this is a guild focused on realistic depictions of future combat scenarios, and that you are not playing Spartans, you are playing Marines. If I have to reward active members with a Spartan, I will. but so far no one would be getting one. If you're concerned about throwing off the guild's story, well guess what, Mike and I are adaptable. We can and will modify our plans to suit the needs of the guild. Unfortunately, no one has taken any initiative.
And if I have to, I will ban one member a day until the guild returns to an active status.

That is also the premises of The Great Guildocaust of 8/19/08;
May that day never be forgotten, and may we learn from out mistakes.
I see no reason for this thread to be locked any further. I shall unlock it.
