So what is the dark tournament exactly, other than a roleplayed fighting tournament?

Herra Karhu notmuch_23 So what is the dark tournament exactly, other than a roleplayed fighting tournament? That's exactly what it is. I concede, bad question. Better one: What makes the Dark Tournament different from other fighting tournaments?

notmuch_23 What makes the Dark Tournament different from other fighting tournaments? The fact that it's a team-based tournament with very loose restrictions on what is allowed in and no concept of fair play.

themightyjello The fact that it's a team-based tournament with very loose restrictions on what is allowed in and no concept of fair play. Ouch... my character would be eaten alive in that tournament (almost literally), even with his guns, the V-twin diamond-bladed-chainsaw, and plenty of methyl nitrate pipe charges with a means to light the fuse...

There is something wrong with playing a competitive game in which the developers admit that some characters are better than others regardless of playstyle.
What's the point in having a character select screen in tournaments?

themightyjello There is something wrong with playing a competitive game in which the developers admit that some characters are better than others regardless of playstyle. What's the point in having a character select screen in tournaments? Yeah, that is true. However, some people can still play Tager and beat V-13. Not usual for that to happen, but it does. Just because the character is better doesn't mean that the player is. If you pick the character just because it's OP and not because you like it, do you really have an incentive to want and get better with it?
