You ask me, I say these Winters boys just want the publicity. They want to make sure people know, without issue, that it's them in the comic, and they're outraged, blah blah blah. Has beens clutching at straws.

That makes sense. I'd been thinking "But...how many people would have known who these Winters brothers were if it hadn't been for this court case? That's them shooting themselves in the foot, surely."
"Yes your honour, those are analogues of us shagging the pigs in that there comic book."

Simpsons seem to get just about everything in parody. You'd think Marvel would sue for the laughable Stan Lee in the "Homer as Hulk" episode. And so forth. What DC needs is Groening's Lawyers.
Nice sig Johnny boy.

Sadly, folks would place more stock in the opinions of Hollywood industry types than they would comic book creators and fans.

I often wonder, if that issue of Hellblazer that contained the story Shoot had been published, whether something like this might have happened.

Let me clarify: Ah propose we put together a thread hyar in Kapow chronicling some of the legal battles the comic industry has had within it and attacking it, and once it's got enough to be considered informative, we collectively divvy it up and post it in CD.

Whatever the angry mothers think, they would have won that one, and it would have been a huge deal. And that's only assuming a lawsuit would have happened in the first place, which I highly, highly doubt.

Having seen some of the parents' groups concerned with school shootings, I could well believe that Shoot may have been a bit too near the knuckle for them.
Question for Jonah: would the thread just be about people in the creative end of the spectrum, or could it include things like the comics store owner who was prosecuted for selling hentai to an undercover police officer?
