WTF.
I got 2 days worth of s**t for having a spiked chain which can only attack my opponent in synchronization with my own attack.
I wish I'd known about these machines back then. At least then I could have thrown that out and said, "HELLO. There is the difference between an enchanted spiked chain and an automaton summon. Right there."

I try not to read other fights.
It makes me feel flimsy and like I should've gone further with my powers.
My character is relatively low-tier for the sort of tourney she's in. xd

Deitric only used his powers twice in his fight.
Once while playing mercy, then he punched Shinji in the face with a lightning bolt.

I guess I never did post anything about it here in the OOC.
But I remember telling someone a while back, maybe Lolli, that I thought the machines were worse than SNAKE BELT by a good margin.
And that's true, Vizzle. I too often use DQ as a general term for [DENIED]. I mean the bird thing would get denied, not that Dan should be DQed now all retroactively.
At the same time... would it be fair to count it against him now when it comes to fight judging time? At least in the cases where he seems to really stretch that rule with his use of the machines? I'm thinking maaaybe the judges did not have the foresight at the time to see how broken the machines could be, because they just saw the bones of it, and not the character in action.
For example, were the questions asked: How many can you call out at once? How many can you command at once? How many individual commands can be issued at once?
I mean, again that's not necessarily Dan's fault because the profile got passed. And honestly I *like* the character concept. Like Hael, I have an affinity for robots. But in this tournament setting, under these rules, I think it is more than bordering on BS.
Robyn can still beat him, though. No doubt. >.>

Roen Jaeger It got in because the judges were lazy and decided to split the profiles up evenly instead of grading them as a collective group. Vansin got some, Rhoslyn got some, Vintrict got some, and Tenkai got some. Each judge has a different level cap and graded appropriately. Profiles SHOULD have to go through everyone. It was only a 64 person tournament. That's 64 profiles. It's not like it's a huge investment of time to go through 64 profiles and point out what's wrong with them. We do it all the time. HoH is a 16x4= 64 person tournament and we have 3 judges go over each team before sending it back or approving it. Which means that including rejected teams, bios that need to be completely rewritten, and changes that need to be made and re-read, it's probably a good 80+ bios that we each read. That's why tournament registration takes a month. GTB registration took like 2 months. Cael 0x So, like I was getting at, does it really have to be a living, breathing creature? Does it have to be sentient? The rule that I always used was "if it can perform a complex action with a simple command, it's not something that the player is controlling anymore".

Well, Darth was right. SOME of the profiles got the attention of three judges, but no, not all of them did.
My profile went through Vintrict and Vintrict only. I know this because Vansin even stated that he had to see my character profile to make a ruling on something because he'd never seen it before.
Some profiles went through one person and that was it.

Since I forgot to comment on it in the last post:
As far as DQ rulings go... no. That's silly. Sure the rules say it isn't allowed but SOMEONE dropped the ball and let it in. At this point it'd be a matter of requiring him to change his bio before the next round if he wins to reflect the new interpretation of the rules (one which will significantly nerf his character).

Incidentally, I want to talk to the judge who approved [House Cat] Round I.
There's such a thing as overly UP as much as OP in this department. As cool as fighting a potted plant with no powers would be, it's the same as giving whoever they're paired against a free win.

Jello The rule that I always used was "if it can perform a complex action with a simple command, it's not something that the player is controlling anymore". So, I have a question for you Jello. Would something like oh.. Carl from BlazBlue be accepted? The character premise was rather simple. A young boy who controlled a puppet. The puppet moved in response to Carl's movements, but those movements had to be channeled and had to be performed precisely the same. As shown in the video, something like this would happen: Carl would channel, stand behind the puppet, and throw a punch. The puppet would move forward and throw a punch, but at the same time, Carl would move, following his own momentum. The same thing would happen regardless of where Carl and the puppet were in correlation of one another.

Yeah, I didn't get to look at Dan's profile, I just assumed that since other judges had looked at it it would be okay.
*sighs*
Also: See the OOC bitching and stuff in the fight thread?
Never do that.

The Time Wizard So, I have a question for you Jello. Would something like oh.. Carl from BlazBlue be accepted? For HoH? Yes, actually. I've never hated on characters who want to puppet things, but there's a line that's drawn between "having something obey your actions" and the time-honored bullshit of telekinetic characters making thirty knives fly around with perfect maneuverability in places they can't even see. Carl, with his one puppet that actually follows actions he's performing rather than just doing things all wimbly-nimbly like at the bat of an eyelash or the gesture of one finger... that would be acceptable. Incidentally, I'd also accept SOME of the puppet using characters from Naruto that I've seen. But only some of them. Generally just the one guy who's name I can't remember who only had 1-2 puppets and had to make big, dramatic gestures to get it to do things.
