Apparently I just had a Vampirella crossover. Go figure. And it was better writen than my usual title. I feel somehow cheated.

I know what that's like. I did me cameos in Shade the Changing Man at the height of the Ennis run. It was like bein' back with Jamie again.

You didn't someone's dog did you? That seems to piss people off and require suing.

Oh fer Christ...what is wrong with California? That's the same state that had "Consumer Whore" win and then loose against Starbucks, saying that is was satire but the artist still couldn't use it. For all they sceam about the enviroment and gasoline and god knows what, they sure like crushing artists.
Irony being, I have no idea who the Winters brothers are. Never heard of 'em. I certainly wouldn't have connected them with these comic book villains. This, very small, alternately canceled and occansionally surfacing, comic book.

They's singers. Which, last Ah checked, are right about up thar with Owlhoots as deservin' some shootin'.

Hyar's thuh full details. Mid-90's, Vertigo went and released a miniseries, whut called "Jonah Hex: Riders of the Worm and Such." Thuh featured villains were a pair of albino's whut named Jonny and Edgar Autumn, who was half human, half snake creature guys who talked like they was retarded and ******** pigs. There was a lot of ********' goin' on in that comic. Ah even scored some myself. Not with a pig tho, thank god. Anyways, The Anti Albino Defamation ******** got wind o' thuh comic and told the Winters guys, who took offense to thuh tune of gettin' a chunk of money out of DC.

The court originally tossed thuh lawsuit out on the grounds of parody. Citin' that no normal, intelligent person would ever consider the Autumn brothers and their doings tuh be something the WINTERS brothers would do.

Sounds reasonable, makes sense.

Then some sort of prescedent wuz set in thuh California courts in regards to liability with parody, and thuh case is currently bein' appealed. rolleyes

Let me add judges tuh that list o' folks whut need tuh be shot.

I repeat: California? Totally ******** up. Makes me wonder why all the Image studios are out there. Absolutely nuts. Like sitting a Devil's Food Cake in the middle of a weightwatcher's meeting. What idiot thinks the cake will survive?

Thinkin' on it, thar's a lot of interestin' information and debate in regards to thuh legal system and how comics've been treated in it. Ah wunder if'fn Kapow! could get tuhgether enough info about different lawsuits and such tuh make a definitive thread...

Comics Journal
As the suit proceeded up and down (and up and down) the judicial ladder, each side was joined by sympathetic groups who filed amicus briefs in support of the party which most reflected their respective interests. The Winters were cheered on by the National Organization for Albinism and Hypopigmentation, the members of which did not like to see albinos linked publicly with worm people. DC had on its side the Motion Picture Association of America, the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, the APP, the Authors Guild, the Dramatists Guild of America, the P.E.N. American Center, the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression and the Freedom to Read Foundation.
