...
I would like to point out a n00b here.
Just because Ertai makes larger posts, doesn't mean that he sucks.
"ZOMFGWTFBBQ HE MADE A BIG POSTS THAT SCARES ME!!!"
If you have a problem with literacy, then screw you. Go back to using asterisks and first person perspective, ******** n00bs. While your at it, get off the computer andread a book. While you are reading it, notice both how it is long, and that the author prabably enjoyed himself while writing it.
And while your gone, I will be hoping every step of the way that you trip and fall on a computer cord, breaking your throat on the way down.
Then if you come back, remember what you have learned. Now, to incorporate it.
If a person isn't god moding or acting like a n00bish peice of s**t, then aknowedge that they have the right to enjoy themselves.
Now I'm done for now. Rant over...

Right...
Of course, you have to acknowledge that while length does not make a post bad it doesn't make it good either. It all really depends on the content.
I do several MS Word long posts when I feel it's appropriate, but I also sometimes hit two-liners when that's all I feel a situation merits.
Of course, for combat, especially PvP, I tend on the longer side.
More than anything though, yeah, it's about how artistic you feel and how much fun you have writing it.

Artistic is the keyword. Roleplaying is an art, not a science. People don't realise that. neutral

Kuro, one question. What books are you reading with the same level of detail as Ertai?
I can only think of a few, most often those books are taken up by characterization and the moving of characters from place to place. Very few authors put forth even a fraction of the detail most of the people here do for battle scene description.

Anonymooo Kellindel Yahoo's about the same only with a stronger emphasis on post length. Literary masturbation. Oi, I'M from Yahoo. xd But yes, I do feel that a lot of RPing is pretty ******** ridiculous, basically showing off folks' vocabulary and verbosity solely to try and be impressive, while not even considering how much of a ******** pain their stuff is to read. Funny that, these are the same people who make fun of Robert Jordan, who DOES go overboard with needless detail. xd ...I don't remember that at all... Unless it changed...

I myself prefer the history kind, hence why I have been amassing a collection of books on military history.

Tcchh. My opinion on the matter is: I'll type however much I wish to, whether you think it too lengthy or no. If the owner of this little event himself starts telling me to cut down on it, then I'll see proper reason for it. Otherwise, you may presume my response to a comment such as..
"omfg ur posts 2 LAWNG!!1"
..Would be, "******** YEHW, good siramdam."
But, hey. And I just checked the "Stadium" to look over a few of Etai's posts, just to see what's being referred to here; I'm glad he's got a sense of detail to his roleplaying, as well as a few others. It'll make this challenging, unlike the last "tournament" I participated in, where I basically came out on top in a day because nobody would type past a sentence. Easiest thousand I ever made on this site. ;.;
....Off-topic, however. Though, this is the OOC thread.
I will say: those participating in the Barton Town "division", good luck to ya' through this, as well as to Shilon, whom I believe just registered a bit ago.

Snow, we weren't speaking fiction. That and I would never trust either Clancy and especially Brown with propper military history. Brown's books while entertaining, Tin Man, are tech wank. Clancy was just too boring for me.

Nihilistic_Impact Well that makes sense, but not all people enjoy reading text books. I myself prefer the history kind, hence why I have been amassing a collection of books on military history. Realy? Seems interesting enough. I've only read about some strategies, such as Machiavelli. But it wasnt from a book... @Nightsnow: I don't like science fiction as much as reading up up on actual science. I may go on places such as wikipedia and read about quantum psysics...

What happened to those people that read novels for the hell of it? gonk
