Ambrose leaned back, popping some of the vertebrae in his back as he trotted into the cafeteria. The delicious smells of a wide variety of meats met his acute senses and seemed to jive with his already pleasant mood.
Things were proceeding well with him and Angelina and the communications with the labs, nothing horrendous had happened in the past few weeks, and overall, the wolf man felt amazingly comfortable for being on the island despite everything. HE was even begining to feel actually situated in his form, having had time to adjust to it - revel in his strength and endurence, exalt in the wonders and vivid picture that his nose could paint - the sharpness of his hearing. And his own dirty little secret - the thrill of running through the jungle on all fours - the wind in his face at speeds he never could have imagined before as a person.
Overall, aside from anxieties about things like Angharad, and worry for Angelina and her slow-paced, 'complications' in her changes, Ambrose was remarkably content.
Loading up a tray with foods that he was eagerly awaiting sinking his teeth into, Ambrose took a seat at one of the tables, and carefully - clinging to the civility that had been virtually bred into him as a boy, Ambrose used his utensils with a precision that contrasted with his lupine appearence as he sat to dine alone, absently hoping that someone might come to join him.

Amaya, however, was having very opposite feelings of her new body and life here on the island. Things had never been worse and she still felt unatural and ugly every time she looked at herself or saw the reptilian mask when she glanced at the mirror. Ever since her little balloon of hope that Alec might have returned her feelings had been popped, things just couldn't seem to lift themselves back up.
And although Ambrose was looking for someone to join him, it wouldn't be for food - or with the same peaceful and happy demeanor he held about himself. Infact, it would probably crash his optimism into the dirt.
The far doors entering the cafeteria slammed open with a crash and a blur of green and brown stumbled inside. The iguana looked around quickly for a moment before spotting Ambrose, someone she hadn't seen in months.
"Ambrose!" She yelled between sobs before running towards him. His keen senses would undoubtedly catch a different scent on her along with all the dirt - and one couldn't ignore the large buldge in her midsection that was pathetically hid by the large white t-shirt she wore.

Lunch time. The teenager was convinced that his gut had a timer in it, it always seemed to know the most inopportune times to strike up a pang of hunger. Unfortunately ever since his last change, it was a lot more difficult to outright ignore. It was because of this that Alec was going through his paces to gather his things and equip his wheelchair for the long roll to the cafeteria.
There was nothing more irritating than having to prepare one's self for a simple trek to retrieve a meal but there was nothing he could do about it. He could be angry and bitter or he could suck it up and roll himself over because really, no one was going to wait on him like a child. Although the sharkboy hadn't gone to talk to Awen yet, time was dulling the pain to the point where he was somewhat harmless and numb, but by no means content with his dsfigurement. Every hindered movement sparked a sting of bitterness but for the most part he bottled it in. For now it was time for lunch and the decent weather did nothing to cheer his mood.

The scent and the feel of emotional distress alerted Ambrose almost before he heard Amaya enter the cafeteria.
His ears perked and then crumpled to the sides of his head as he saw the iguana girl that he had long ago adopted as his little sister - a girl he guiltilly hadn't seen in months now - run to his side with a wavering cry in her voice.
"Amaya!" Ambrose called out, startled, whimpering a bit himself in confused sympathy. His food was forgotten and pushed aside. What could have happened? Who had hurt her or made her this upset?!
His big paw-like hand ran down her head and over the pliable spines.
His eyes flickered to the strange bulge in her otherwise unhealthily thin frame and along wiht the strange scent, a very different picture began to form in his head.
But I thought that we couldn't.... unless there is a male iguana here?! there are plenty of other islanders I don't know.. who did this to her?!
"Amaya... my God... where have you been? It's been months since I saw you - I was so worried when they brought you to the labs, but I Heard you were alright... what's happened... who... who did this to you?!" He flooded her with questions, almost oblivious to the entry of a second individual to the cafeteria.

Amaya ran right into his arms, her snout burrying itself into his thick fur. "I dunnoooo!" She cried, though her eyes remained as dry as always. Her hands reached up and rubbed at her eyes on relfex.
"I'm s-scaaaared!" The girl admitted, sobbing like a child. "Somethings wrong with me and- and- I just woke up in a HOLE!" She sobbed, yellow eyes shutting tightly as she cried.

Alec sighed as he came up to the cafeteria door,s hacing adopted a certain loathing for any such barracades in recent times. No one knew how much doors were a pain in the arse to someone stuck in a wheelchair.
Aftrer fighting with the metal frame, the sharkboy managed to finally push his way through and into the air conditioned room. The cool air attacked his skin and made him shiver, having taken a bath shortly before leaving the slick greyness was still moist. Or perhaps it was the sound that struck a nerve that was the source of the awkward chill, flinching in his chair before he even saw the source. But he eventually saw it. Amaya was sobbing in the arms of a hairy beast and although it was clear the man was causing her no harm, the teenager instinctively arched his back in a daunting pose that was mostly lost by the harmless look of a boy confined to a wheelchair. "'Maya?" His voice clearly carried through the otherwise vacant room, a frown furrowing across his expression.

Ambrose boggled at the crying girl in his arms, but his comforting side leapt into action as he stroked the girl more. His little sister was in trouble, she was scared and upset. Ambrose never used to be the touchy-feely sort.. but after going through his transformation a lot of aspects of the man had changed - usually minor things, peripheral things. The battles that Ambrose had chosen not to fight in order to keep himself the man that he recognised.
Ambrose never used to be touchy-feely... but now he was. He wanted to hold her, let his presence make her feel like she as loved and welcomed.
"Amaya! Amaya... I'm here.. I'm here. It's okay.." She didn't know? How could she not know? Unless the labs... but why would they? They said it was possible - but why her? From what Aubrey was talking about it was still very experimental that it didn't sound like they were prepared to ... test it.
He shook his head and made a confused "bruff" sound.
At the outburst of the new arrival, however, Ambrose did look up. It was... was that Alec?! The tuft of remnant mohawk on the head of the wheelchair-bound shark lent another pang of sympathy for a different reason. Everyone was changing... and not many people were nearly as lucky as him....
"Alec...?" He asked quietly, not letting go of the sobbing girl.

The girl continued to sob in Ambrose's arms, a yellow eye peeking around his large frame at Alec. Though she could think of nothing to say to him, too embarassed and ashamed.
Her dirt-covered snout burried itself back into the wolf man's torso as she sobbed, still frightened and scared of what was happening to her. She couldn't be pregnant! It was impossible!

The sound of his name announced in an unfamilair voice was enough to elicit anxiety from the youngster, for mixed reasons. As he remained poised over his lowerhalf like a leopard coiled for a springing attack, he strained to make out Amaya's features amongst the silver and sandy pelt that was now enveloping her. He focused on a glimpse of one of her eyes, the welling fear he could barely make out was enough to pump a rush of adrenaline into his system. Without even an acknowledgement to Ambrose, he began slowly wheeling towards the two with both weariness and subdued panic. "Wha's goin on...? Wha's wrong...? 'Maya?" He rebounded the questions back and forth between them with twitchy jerks of his head, dead-focused on the one he was more concerned about.

Ambrose felt drawn between the sobbing girl and the obviouslly concerned young man. He held out a hand and made a consolatory wave towards Alec with a brief shake of his head as if to say "I'm not quite sure" before looking back to Amaya.
"Look, Amaya... what ever is wrong.... and it might not be what you're thinking! ... Really... I'm here for you, kid. You're safe... there are doctors... And no one wants to see you hurt. How... how do you feel?"
Ambose pulled the girl to sitting on his lap gently and glanced back towards Alec. He wasn't aware of the relationship... or lack thereof... between the two of them, but he seemed to know her and seem concerned, so he nodded him over.

Amaya sniffled as she was sat down on Ambrose's lap, her tail shifting around to accomidate her position. The large buldge in her shirt was now more noticable than ever, making her feel even more exposed. She closed her eyes, not wanting to see Alec's reaction to it.
She just shook her head at all their questions, unable to properly put anything together or say anything between her sobs.
Though then something felt... weird. The teen stopped crying for a moment and looked confused down at her stomach. It felt like they were moving a little. She whimpered painfully and leaned forward, one of her hands on the side of her stomach.

As Amaya had turned, Alec got a clearer view of what was upsetting the young girl. The unmistakable bulge in her stomach had gotten bigger since the last time he'd seen her, so much so that it startled even himself. If it was what he thought it was, then it was growing pretty damn quickly. The thought made his mouth run dry, a sickening lump in his throat that quickly expanded into an overall feeling of malaise. She was pregnant.
God knew who the father was but he'd make an effort to find out, that's for sure. Even as Alec wheeled himself over upon Ambrose's friendly gesture, it was all he could think of. Their big fight, the denial, the possibility that she'd absolutely moved on and... It was unbelievable at the same time but it made him feel brutally ill and worthless.
A questioning glance was sent to Ambrose before Amaya seemed to flinch in pain, the body language eliciting a flinch from the teen. "Aw ye sick?" He winced as he asked her, looking towards the wolfman again.

Ambrose's ears flattened further against his head as he could feel through the quivering of her body that her stomach was rumbling... strangely.
He had seen her just a few months ago - she hadn't looked strange at all... but then, people didn't often start showing for a while... but it was so big! What was wrong? It was so strange! And why would the labs test HER?? She was so young?
"I... I don't know if she's... sick.." Ambrose said quietly, never stopping stroking her head as if she still had a full head of hair.

Amaya still couldn't reply to either of them, her sharp teeth gritting as the movement in her abdomen got more and more intense. She whimpered louder, her hand grabbing tightly and pulling at the t-shirt she wore.
"Hurtss..." She managed to utter out, her eyes blinking constantly as if she was having a hard time focusing.

Alec's upset from Amaya's pain was obvious by his expression even though he'd ceased moving towards them from either respect of her space or fear to truly involve himself in the situation. "Shoul'nt she be lyin down o' somethin?" He sounded more impatient this time, still looking to Ambrose for answers like he was the resident wiseman. her growing discomfort only added to his anxiety and he wasn't managing the stress well.
