:::She looks up, directly at him, a certain determination in her eyes:::
Neither do I. :::She gives it a moment while she lets her thoughts sink in before she vocalizes them:::
:::as she begins to look away::: ...but I am sure that either of us would still give everything we have to try. :::Looking back at him from the corner of her eye::: ...so long as that has not changed...

To try WHAT, Cora??? What am I supposed to do? I've lost my powers. Right now, BARD could beat the crap out of me!

:::her thoughts suddenly shifted into a defensive mode, and she whipped her head back to look at him as he yelled at her:::
:::her voice elevated to an angrered shout::: You told me that you could teach me to gain abilities, to gain power, even though I have none! Isn't this place worth it to you?! To do the same!?
:::She gasped a little as she finally heard herself... she realized that it was not Luke who she was yelling at this time. Her body language retreated:::
...forgive me, Captain.

*Tavin glared at Cora, and then suddenly stood up, sending his chair flying back to the ground, then turned and walked away to the bar*

:::She felt her stomach sink to the floor, the way it did everytime she got angry at someone, and worse, everytime some one got angry at her. She felt ashamed, like she never wanted to let anyone look at her ever again, but after a moment of wallowing she realized that it was not a good time for anger or shame, there was work to be done:::
:::Cora swallowed what little pride she had, and walked over, slowly, to where Tavin repositioned himself. She stood a few feet behind him and spoke, her head hung low:::
I am very sorry, Captain. I did not mean to accuse you that way. I know that you care about this place, more than I do, if that is possible. You told me yourself that you are willing to sacrifice anything to save this place, and I do not doubt it for a moment. That is why I assumed...
Anyway... you are my Captain. You have the knowledge and the experience, and I still need your help to guide me. We all still need your help. Please tell me what I can do. Like you, I do not appreciate feeling helpless.

*Tavin sighs*
I'm not certain how possible it would be for me to teach you what I myself can't do... let me think, though. I seem to remember taking note of what it was that you had an affinity for.....

:::Cora's heart skipped a beat. Was she finally going to start learning. Something? Anything? She watched his lips closely, awaiting his next instruction, and held back the obvious signs of anticipation as best she could:::

Well... I believe that the manipulation of time was your forte.... Cora... I am going to attempt to teach you to slow down time.

:::her eyes were wide with wonder:::
Slow down..time... :::Her mind raced with all sorts of algorythms for time/space continueum and she started to try to make mathematic sense of it all. It was a few seconds before she shook her head, and dumped the old processies. She was in the Brink, and she had a feeling that what she had to learn had nothing to do with her brain:::

*Tavin scrounged around under the bar for a minute, producing a tennis ball. He then walked back over to the table and sat down, motioning Cora to join him*
If you're ready.....

Sit down. Take the ball in your hand, toss it up, and catch it in your hand.

:::She does as she is told. She takes the ball in her hand, mentally noting its shape, size, texture, weight... She gave herself a moment to gauge the force neccessary to toss it up and catch it, then did so, peice of cake:::
:::She looked over and waited for her next instruction:::

Again. Do it one hundred times. Exactly the same. I want you to count how many seconds it takes to complete the process each time, and watch the ball as it travels up and down.

:::Cora nodded intently, and began her task of 100 tosses:::
:::She began, she tossed the ball each time with equal force. The first couple dozen tosses or so she attempted to count just how long it took for the ball to leave her hand, and descend yet again, using the laws of gravity to assist her, but after that she soon started to just know how long it was about to take, without thinking about it much. She could sense exactly when the balls acceleration hit 0, at its zenith, and how long after that it would take to reach her hand again:::
:::A couple minutes went by, and she reached the 100th toss. By now she was quite comfortalbe with the way it worked. Again, she looked back at Tavin awaiting instruction:::
