"The girls left." Seto said on an only slightly more cheerful note. "They were upset, but after I told them what'd happen if they refused, they packed up and were gone."

"Yeah." Seto agreed, but he looked a little more depressed. Before Ayira had come, before he had realized what a monster he had been, he would have gladly slaughtered any person if the pharaoh wished it to be. His father had told him that two things were important; that whatever is done is done for the good of Egypt, and that the pharaoh is to be listened to and obeyed. Obviously the former ule overrode the latter; if the pharaoh wanted something and it would devastate Egypt, they would have to protest. It amazed him how much had changed over the years.

"You had come at an odd time." Seto mumbled, hugging Ayira back. "When you first came to the palace, I mean. If you had arrived even a few weeks earlier you would have seen me even meaner than I had been originally. I'm not sure if it's fate or just plain luck that made you come when you did."

Seto pulled away from the embrace and kissed Ayira. He paused and pulled away. "Sorry. I might still have 'whore' on my breath." He said apologetically.
