[ Celia : Caribbean : Dutchman's Brig ]
Celia smiled. "For you?"
There was a pulse of energy from her hand into the lock, and metal could be heard grinding horribly, as if being broken from the inside. She grabbed the door handle and pulled it open for him, giving the heart over to him.
"Consider it a consolation prize."

[Joe: Atlantica: Battlegrounds]
...Joe was upset. Mainly at Kyle. He had seen what happened between him and Noelle, and he had even stopped to look at the massive ice spell. Joe had seen that it wasn't...fully completed, he assumed, but definitely had seen what it was doing to everyone in it, enemy and ally alike.
Needless to say, Joe was instead focusing on Noelle, ignoring Kyle's presence entirely.
"You okay?" Obviously not, considering what she just did and what that darkness did to her arm. He took her hand, and got to work on healing. Sure, it would probably take longer than some others, but...it gave him something to work on as he locked his jaw into place and squared out his shoulders.

[[??? : Atlantica : Battlegrounds ]] {{Cue: U.N. Owen Was Her by Tutti Sound}} "Wins~" An ambiguous voice, sinister yet alluring in nature echoed in Kyle's ear from the right, finishing his statement with a chuckle. A pitch black hand laid on his shoulder in his mind's eye before a thin figure leaned in from the side and stared him down with sharp red eyes, "Come now, you give up too easily~""Far too easily," the voice continued from his other ear, "You have more you can give. You're not done yet~ You havn't failed... yet..."The darkness clouding his eyes grew thicker as the voice shifted again, this time the presence embracing him from behind, pressing against his back and wrapping its arms around his neck, almost as if to hug him, or strangle him, "You can't let him win. You have to kill them all or he's beaten you..."The creature's mouth hovered over his neck, breathing bitter cold air into his collar bone before moving to his ear in a whisper, "What are you waiting for? You were so quick to embrace it just now~""So quick to take hold. So confident... no fear..." "Just accept it. Give yourself to it. It's the only way you'll win. The only way you can stop him. A little bit won't hurt, just enough to win." "Don't let them stop you. It's for their sake you're doing this. They're just getting in the way. Ignore them. You know what you have to do." "Do it. Show them they're wrong." "Accept it. Show them your resolve." The figure moved around to look as him face to face, swirling around Kyle like smoke in its psudo-physical form trapped in his hallucination. It drew so close that all Kyle would see were the glowing red eyes, he couldn't look away, he couldn't blink to block it out, it was all in his head, but it was more real than that, "Do what you must. Open your heart. Let me in, and I'll give you everything you need to stop him. It's as easy as that..."

[Noelle ~ Atlantica ~ Battlefield]
"No," Noelle panted in reply, remaining rigid as Joe's healing spell spread over the burns on her arm, side, and back. She clenched her right fist, trying to fight back tears of pain. The healing wasn't working as quickly as usual because of the nature of the attack, leaving her cringing and still simmering in anger.
"Hey a*****e!" She spat at Kyle between breaths, groaning in pain before she continued. "You done trying to kill the very people we're trying to save? Hmm? You done helping Ajora get what he wants? Because if you are you can stop hurting your friends and start fighting with them!"
'Okay okay okay, calm, caaaalm. Dear God, this hurts like a b***h!' 'Ultima is as lost as he is to her ways, there's no working with them.' 'There's gotta be something, we've gotta get through to him, he's endangering the side he's fighting for . . . I have to ask Riku.'
Noelle grimaced and focused back on the charms to talk to Riku, "Riku, I'm sorry if you're busy, but this is important! Kyle, he . . . his Darkness levels just started going haywire. He tried casting a spell that would have wiped us all out. I was able to stop him, but he got me pretty good. Is there anything I can do? There has to be something."

[ Riku ; Kuja : Caribbean : Deck ]
Right. Joe's the fighter. Bad call.
As Riku's assault was parried and Azrael began to dance, Riku realized (about as quickly as the Replica moved, to his displeasure) that he was, perhaps for the first time in a long, long time, out-matched. It didn't help that the Crow's Nest was small and far too awkward for a melee battle. He'd only hoped to knock the person out of it, not start a ballet.
The Keyblader didn't waste time trying to fight back. Almost as quickly as he'd made his entrance, he jumped out, grabbing hold of his net once again. It turned out to be a mixed blessing--Noelle needed some advice.
An attack that would have hit everyone...
"He's obsessed," Riku responded, quickly throwing back a Dark Firaga to distract Azrael long enough to get his messages through. "Don't get in his way, you'll just be seen as an enemy. Offer to help, a compromise, anything to make him see you're still on his side. If his Darkness is as crazed as you say, outright stopping it isn't an option--not in the middle of a battle. He'll just think you want him weaker, unable to help--you'll be an enemy."
"Ugh, what a hideous creature," Kuja muttered, his spheres once more glowing with magic as he charged a spell. "Flare Star!"
Taking advantage of the creature's Stunned state, Kuja unleashed one of his more powerful spells. His spheres converged on the beast for a small, non-elemental blast that would have kept him stunned before they converged once more in a large, black-and-red explosion. The blast would have dealt massive damage, as well as sending the creature flying into the air; and considering that 'into the air' was actually 'onto the other ship' due to their current angle, he would probably strike hard wood as a result.

[ Kyle : Atlantica : Battlegrounds ]"Wins~ Come now, you give up too easily~" Kyle seemed unfazed by the sensations of the strange specter around him, grazing his skin. Indeed, he seemed oddly accustomed already."Hey a*****e!" "You can't let him win. You have to kill them all or he's beaten you..." I was so close... but they stopped me...
He shrugged lightly as the specter's arms wrapped around his neck him from behind--as if to lean into the embrace."Don't let them stop you. It's for their sake you're doing this." "You done helping Ajora get what he wants?" The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few...
His left arm ached. It... hungered.
I did all of this to get him. Ajora, who killed our friend, who left his scars, who created his abominations, who started this entire war and isn't even here to fight it..."--you can stop hurting your friends and start fighting with them!" "Show them they're wrong. Show them your resolve." If Ajora isn't stopped here, he'll just keep doing this, keep starting wars, keep killing innocents...
Kyle didn't want to blink, didn't want to move away. He reached his left hand up to the specter's face, as if to caress a cheek that wasn't there, his face contorted in longing.
The needs of the many... the needs of the few... the needs of the universe... the needs of one world..."I'll give you everything you need to stop him." Kyle's face hardened. His caress turned into a grip, as if he was trying to squeeze the Darkness dry, trying to take it for all it was worth."The greater good always requires that we make sacrifices, regardless of what we want," he seethed, ready to take in whatever this demon offered. He would bear the burden. He would take the fall. The needs of the many outweighed his own needs. He craned his head around to glance at Noelle over his shoulder, golden eyes glaring toward her as whatever power this entity bore filled him; the black veins slowly began to rise again, and this time they grew farther down his arm, overtaking and twisting around his Command Seal like a barrier of thorns. "If you can't bear that responsibility, run away. Are you my ally or an obstacle?"[[Probably best to wait for Rhiko's response so we know what the thing gives Kyle.]]

[John / Saint .: Caribbean :. Black Pearl Deck]
On the far side of the deck John had found himself lying on his back with Saint’s boot in his face. “Reach deep within yourself and see this world as I do.” Saint retorted as he pushed his heel further into John’s already bloody face. “A world full of misery, ready to be purged of all its… mistakes.” John remained silent through Saint’s sentence, and refused to make eye contact. Saint’s anger began to boil over and it began to show on his face. Saint continued, “You cocky son of a b**** who the f*** do you think you are here?!?! I mean, what the f*** are you going to accomplish now. You’re weak and pathetic and still…”
Saint pressed harder on John’s face forcing the cuts to deepen and the fluids to flow as his voice softened. “You’re will is stronger than mine will ever be…” Saint looked at John’s broken body and his frown slowly turned into a grimace. With a primal scream Saint lifted his hammer and slammed it on John’s lower torso, shattering his ribs.

[[??? : Atlantica : Battlegrounds ]] [[Cue: Gods Bound By Rules - Piano by Kumi Tanioka]] Silence, the world was silent... like everything had frozen solid amidst an invisible snowfall. The battle, the others screaming, the sound of water rushing all around them. In that moment, there was nothing but the two of them. A tainted dragoon and the demon corrupting him, floating face to face as time stood still. The needs of the many... the needs of the few... the needs of the universe... the needs of one world... ...all outweigh the needs of one. The phantom drew back and smiled, its razor toothed grin emphasized by the purple-red light glowing from within. The demonic being of nightmares growled like a lion appreciating its soon to be meal. There was a flash in its eyes as the tendrils dug into the glyph. Its mouth widened and grew, its body stretching out and arcing over Kyle though it were about to devour him whole. Just just before the gaping maw engulfed him, its form broke apart and swirled together into streams of darkness that collected and forced their way into his chest, burrowing deep within before his hallucinations left the realm of illusion and entered reality in new ways. To the world outside the holy dragoon's mind, the veins pulsed violently, even the magic circuits that had gone out lit aflame once more, burning off darkness like a wildfire... moving beneath the skin as though alive, separate from the boy's body. It was likely excruciating as the darkness writhed and retreated up his arms and through his torso before collecting into a black stain over his left breast. It pulsed, beating like a heart as it receded bit by bit until nearly nothing remained but a few straggling black veins over his chest. The veins on his arm however, moved separately from the ones that sprouted from the circuits, and for some reason or another, remained even after the rest of the darkness had gone. "The pact is made... go and do now what you must... your time is short."

[Joe: Atlantica: Battlegrounds]
The fighter kept working on Noelle as she yelled at Kyle. Really, this was.... With a huff, Joe turned to look at Kyle and...didn't like what he saw. But was a bit too angry to actually pay it too much mind at the moment.
"Of course I'm your ally, you twit. But this..." He sighed, looking at Noelle and focusing most of his attention to healing her. "I don't like your plan. It sucks." He let out another sigh.
"You're talking about destroying innocent people. We haven't even lost, and you're.... Leave the innocents behind? What do you think you're gonna end up doing here? You're going to kill Fathers, Mothers, Sons, Daughters. You're going to kill off the people that can fight and protect themselves." Joe gritted his teeth, grinding them for a moment. "You could kill our people. And we need whoever we can get. This isn't a game, we don't respawn without extenuating circumstances. And..." He ended up squeezing Noelle's hand a little hard. "We shouldn't have to take their world from them! They should be able to live by their choice, not just survive because something else...someone else made that choice for them! They shouldn't have to lose so damn much! They're already sacrificing themselves by fighting, why isn't that enough?! Why does it have to be your way or no way!?"
Joe slowly loosened his grip on Noelle's hand, his teeth still grinding. "Sorry." That was to Noelle, and if not for the water, they might have noticed his eyes watering from the pure frustration. "There has to be something else...."

[Noelle ~ Atlantica ~ Battlefield]
Noelle groaned mentally at what Riku had to say. “It’s like trying to reason with a . . . a . . . unreasonable thing! If we all die, you’ll know wh--dear god, where is this Darkness coming from?”
Noelle sent a feed of what she was seeing to Riku via the charms. Kyle’s changes and visible manifestations of Darkness were disturbing to say the least. The small blonde kept taking deep, shaky breaths. The pain up her arm was starting to subside, but her side and back still stung intensely. Kyle then spoke again, saying exactly what she thought he would given what Riku told her. She shot Joe an agonized, pleading glance as he began to speak. It was obvious that Kyle thought little of her. No matter what he’d told her back in Ariel’s cove, when he was at his worst he didn’t trust her to do what was right by him and by their friends. But he trusted Joe, and he’d hopefully listen to him. Now if he’d just stop crushing her hand.
“We need you to see, Kyle, that we want to help.” She said, panting and trying to soften the harsh edge on her tone, “If you cast this spell now, sure, the battle will be over and the needs of the many will have been met. But we would no longer have a force strong enough to bring to Atlantis and win. Sure we’ll have won here, but at the cost of losing hundreds of soldiers and most likely the entire world of Atlantis. So please, let us help! We can find another way to do this, but you have to work with us, not alone.”
Upon speaking of and thinking about teamwork, Noelle struck upon an idea. She suddenly paused, looking away from Kyle for a second. Her eyes glanced over the battlefield and at the enemies remaining, the battle still raging on. She was trying to decide if it was feasible. It had to be, it was their last chance. She looked back to Kyle seriously, hoping she could get him to agree.
“There are options, think back to the game . . . If we can pull off a Drive, now would be the time.” Noelle finished, silently praying for Kyle’s compliance.

[ Kyle : Atlantica : Battlegrounds ]
Kyle's body wracked with pain, surged with agony, as the Darkness forcefully made its home within him, but he showed no signs of it. His focus was absolute. There was only the goal, and his body meant nothing compared to it.
"You're right, Joe, there is no respawn," he seethed while Noelle seemed distracted, eyeing him warily. Couldn't she see? It was always for them, everything he did was for them. He summoned his Swallow-Spear in a flash of dull light. "And there's no pause, either. So you can waste time--and their lives--trying to tie things up with a pretty little bow, but I'm going to do what I can to end this now."
He turned to swim off, only for Noelle to speak up, calling after him. He paused, if only to hear her out, but his anger only rose. His shoulders bowed and sagged with each ragged breath.
"Don't you get it?" he seethed, turning back to the two of them. "There's no spell now! Your quaint little interruption released the energy I'd been gathering ALL G*D-D*MNED NIGHT! There is no quick fix, we have to do this the long way, we have to waste more time while Ajora assaults the Heart of Atlantis with the f@#$ing TRIDENT."
"Can you imagine, for the briefest of moments, what he could do with that power?" he seethed, swimming toward them, his shadow writhing, pulsing, his black veins longing to move. His voice was low, patronizing, mocking her heroism. "Why do you think he's set this all up? So we could waste time. I found a shortcut--a way that might not have saved this world, but would have saved dozens of others--but you wasted it."
He paused, having gotten within striking distance now--and contemplating it, as they would see from the grip on his weapon--and looked into her eyes. He searched her, pierced her, his yellow eyes scouring for anything that might set him off.
Instead, the tension seemed to slip away, if only barely.
"A Drive... would speed things up," he admitted, his eyes glancing away, rapidly going back and forth, as if trying to watch something. He looked back, cautious, suspicious, but held out his hand--his right hand, his clean hand--for them to grab. "Anything to make up for lost time."

[Joe: Battlegrounds: Atlantica]
Joe...wasn't quite up to butting heads any further, so he let Kyle finish his talk, and let him yell at Noelle(even though his body tensed as if to react). But when Kyle got closer, Joe moved, getting between Noelle and Kyle, his body language practically screaming 'Do it. Try to hit her. I f*cking dare you.' Thankfully, Kyle didn't seem to fully want to test both the fighter and the agromancer.
A Drive...Joe looked down at Kyle's hand. His 'clean' one. Then he looked back at Noelle. It was her idea...but he was definitely not going to let her do it...alone, at least. And he reached out, gripping Kyle's hand with his own.

[Noelle ~ Atlantica ~ Battlefield]
Noelle listened in incredulity as Kyle raged at her. Where was that person she spoke to before the battle started? He was the one assuring her. And now? Now she didn't understand how she could have believed his reassuring words. It was unfortunate how much Darkness could change a person, and how quickly. The agromancer was glad to have had Joe stand between Kyle and herself as the swallow spear wielder approached. She wanted to hit him again. There was only one other person in her entire life that ever spoke to her with such venom.
But then his demeanor changed. It was like he suddenly realized she was right. Or at least realized her idea could work. Knowing the state of his mind, it was probably the latter. A few tense moments passed as Joe squared himself in front of her protectively. An expression of shock crossed her face as Joe took Kyle's hand--she didn't know he'd be in on it too. But she would take all the help she could get right then, because lord knew it was going to be a challenge to smack the stupid out of him alone. However, even though it was her idea, it was almost hard to put her hand in. Kyle attacked her verbally, and worse, physically. But it was more important that she focus on saving the Atlantic forces and their friends, so she bit her lip, and pressed her injured hand onto Joe's and Kyle's.

[ Kyle : Atlantica : Battlegrounds ]As Noelle laid her hand onto Joe's and Kyle's, a brilliant flash of light erupted blinding any who looked toward them for a few moments. When it finally dulled, only Kyle remained. His golden-beta merform now held streaks of various shades of green matching Noelle and Joe's color scheme. He had light conch-shell pauldrons on his shoulders, bound by an X-patterned combination of leather straps that crossed directly over his heart, where they were bound by a smooth gemstone, just like Joe's--only instead of glimmering emerald, the stone was an iridescent pearl with a strange black streak through the middle. The black veins on his left arm were still visible, but they were still, reaching only to the Command Seal and wrapping around it.
In his hands was not a single swallow, but rather, two straight, silver spears with a red tassel on either side of the blade. His irises had returned to their normal, deep brown as he turned and scanned the battlefield. His eyes weren't paying attention, however--his mind was churning rapidly on what he could do.
I have a limited time to destroy as many enemies as I can... my strengths have changed...
His eyes snapped into focus.
My strengths are just one piece. This is a group effort..:Welcome aboard. Now, shall we plan this out?:."Mathy, if you can make any sort of potion that increases my strength or speed or both, that would be great. Jenny, I need the strongest Haste you can possibly conjure. Bobbi, if you have the mana, I need a constant stream of your Ice Spirit. Kyla, I'll need a protective Flight of Blades and, if possible, some other protective boons. Dani, if you have any sort of water-boon to increase my speed, that would be great, but worry about getting out of there first. Kyle, any sort of strength boon would be amazing, and Sayrike... I don't know your strengths, but any boons would be welcome. But most importantly--try and get a message to Triton. I have an idea, but we'll need as men as close to our lines as possible."
There was a brilliant flare of light surrounding him--for the briefest of moments, angelic wings appeared to sprout from his back, made of pure light, before vanishing into golden dust. The water around him was suddenly pulsing, fluxing with pure, unseen energy, and the Command Seal on his back was glowing a piercing gold. [[ Kyle cast Faithga -- 2x MS and MR ]] [[ Kyle's current stats: PS : 10 [ 6 + 1 (Noelle) + 2 (Joe) + 1 (Mermaids) ] PR : 5 [ 2 + 1 + 1 + 1 ] MS : 30 [ (10 + 2 + 1 + 2 (Louis Specter)) x2 (Faithga) ] MR : 14 [ (5 + 1 + 1) x2 (Faithga) ] AS : 11 [ 7 + 1 + 2 + 1 ] ER : 14 [ 10 + 2 + 1 + 1 ] OS : 9 [ 5 + 1 + 2 + 1 ] END: 14 [ 10 + 2 + 1 + 1 ] ENG: 10 [ 8+ 1 + 1 ] Also, it's the second spear but colored silver.]]

{Kyle; Valmar : Battlefield}Kyle was being somewhat oblivious to the situation around him, the chill of the growing ice walls not reaching where he was. But he couldn't help but notice when the other Kyle started shouting about how he could end the battle instantly. Was he going to do some massive kill all spell? He was wondering how effective it would be when he realized he was still in the middle of the army. Maybe it would be for the best to get out of there, like, yesterday. That's when he started seriously swimming for the front lines, hoping to avoid whatever was going to happen. Then the spell went off. All the cold that had been building up was gone, at least to him, but he watched more than a few Geists instantly go down. It wasn't a very long spell, but it was enough to help clear the path to the front lines and soon he was back with the merpeople.
Much better. He thought as he struck down a few enemies coming close. When Kyle's message came through, he tried to think of what boons he could offer. Hmmm...I don't really have anything like Haste or the like...but I could cover your spear with earth and increase it's power and range. It would make it a bit harder to swing and it would be slower, but that's all I got. He replied, swimming back to where he remembered Kyle as being. Seeing the new form, he raised an eyebrow and said, "...Spears then."I'll kill them. I'll kill them all. That ice hurt. They'll pay for what they did. Valmar was bleeding from various cuts and scratches all over his body and his left arm was fairly shredded from shards of ice. Sinking down to the bottom, he placed his good arm on the earth and started drawing all his energy back. Then he rapidly called up a line of ten Earth Cannons and set them to launch. When each had launched their three boulders, he went back to drawing more energy in. He would need it to get his lazy tenant to do some work. While he was drawing his energy, the boulders reached their peak and exploding, sending waves of shards down upon the battlefield.
With his energy restored, he swam through the battlefield, until he was over a good majority of it. Then he started focusing his power until a seal had appeared under him. Then it vanished as a massive black snake sank to the ocean floor and laid there, perfectly content. Let the bastards try that kind of thing again. They'll regret it. He thought as he sank back down, moving out of the battlezone. He didn't want to get caught in Dark Midgardsormr's rampage.
