That sounds a lot like what happened when I was at a hotel for snowboarding though. I was being stewpid.
I had just taken the key out of my pocket so that I wouldn't leave it behind when I put down my jacket in my room so that I could go next door for some food, and then left both my jacket, and ket in my room, and, while wearing snowboard boots because I had also forgotten my flipflops, waddled over to another room, and then realized I locked myself out.

see, i used to be really smart about stuff like this back in high school.... now I'm a college student... I think I litterally have gotten dumber
