You have no idea how much I wish I could make your world better, my friend. As a psychologist, as a healer . . . hearing you are down makes me worry. You have been too good a friend for me to ignore your darkness. *hugs*
Meritocracy is ideal in my mind. People are able to advance through what they can do, not who they know.

Sick all weekend, but on the mend now.
I doubt anybody could, as it's all either my own fault or something in which i have agency. I do appreciate your thought, though.
That's definitely what I would do if I ever had a leadership position.

Well, it seems the Tax man is coming back to bite me in the a** now. I claimed my milage for a work expense, since I drive for a living with my own car. Now the state level taxes want a complete audit of my milage. They want to have reciepts and records of how much I drove, when I did it, and all that jazz.
I'm going to lose that money, since there are no records at all.

I'm sorry you got audited for that... Bookkeeping to that level of detail and keeping it for years is such a hassle.

Tomorrow I am going to have to call and say "I don't have the records. I thought it was alright, as did my tax preparer. What do I have to do to amend this?"
I'll lose money, but I can't fight it at this point. Just frustrating that when I try to better my life, that is the moment I get audited. As if the world saying "eff you."

Well, it is the government you're dealing with, and they never make anything easy... confused

True enough. At this point, I do not have the documentation to prove anything, so I will be taking a $188 hit on my taxes from the state, and hope that is all. IF they effect my local taxes, that will hurt since I already received them, and would have to pay them back.

That would really stink, but I doubt it. Hopefully there won't be a fine.

According to my tax preparer, I won't be fined. She claims it will all still be coming back to me. Likely this is because I have such a low income. We will see, but it really does suck that the first time I try this sort of manouver, they audit me. *sigh*

Yeah, you'd think auditors would pay more attention to the big filers, especially since they tend to be the ones doing the most shady actions (and cost the government more %-wise).

Quote: Gloom DragonsThese giant dragons wander Hades, which is different from the Abysss in that it's "the battlefield for the eternal Blood War," whatever that means. Whenever a Gloom Dragon kills a foe, a tombstone-like plates grows out of its back, making them look like a giant, ambulatory cemetery (with a beak). That's awesome, but it's also very strange. What's more strange is that these tombstones somehow have victim-specific epitaphs on them, meaning some portion of this creature's biological system is devoted solely to writing brief obituaries of people and creatures who end up inside the dragon's stomach.
I love this concept.
