One of my favorite authors writes all of his stuff in DOS. He claims too many distractions from modern OS's. XD.

Awesome.
Mostly I just use it to play old games that weren't made for Windows, or when I feel like making everything harder than it has to be.
Or when I want to check the files on my computer without booting up a real OS, such as if there was a corrupted system file.

DosBox is a necessity if you want to play any decent game.
Like Master of Orion, or the original Command & Conquer.
Also good to edit the bat file to virtually mount all your discs so you don't have to type seventeen lines every time you open the program.

You know what I love about DosBox? The fact that you can emulate an IPX connection and host multiplayer games.
Who wants to play a round of Master of Orion II? FOR TWELVE HOURS?

With Windows, you can just drag a folder or executable into the shortcut icon to start the program with that folder or executable already mounted to C:/ That's how I play The Incredible Machine 2.

Ah, didn't know that. I just added the startup lines to my bat file so it auto-runs those codes when I start the program. Useful since I need to mount a file folder as a drive, and another file folder as a CD image, and another file folder as something else, and start the internet protocol, and host a server, etc. The Haelstrom Fist My major use: X-COM UFO Defense. I play that through Steam.
