Tends to be, I can accomplish anything with a Windows OS I can with a Mac OS, and when it comes to Apple-specific machines, I can get the same and better for s**t-tons cheaper.

Any OS-specific features OSX claims to have are easily and flawlessly emulatable by both Windows and Linux. To top it, I don't need to wait (several years!!) to get ports of popular games I play on Windows.

Not saying I particularly give a s**t about the brand war, I just see no advantage that would make me go "hey, want me a Mac huhuhr. biggrin "
It's easy. XD.

I don't get why you would want to emulate windows. I can almost guarantee whatever subtle difference you see in photoshop between Windows and Mac is because you want there to be some kind of difference, you've been told there's supposed to be. I think Photoshop might load maybe a second faster, that's it.

If all you want to do is play games, why not just not make it difficult for yourself, skip OS X, and learn how to properly browse the internet?

As for the Photoshop differences, they were more for interface than speed.

The second comment makes no sense to me. Obviously PCs are better for gaming, right now. And the internet comment makes no sense to me.

The number one reason I get for people liking Macs over PCs is because "windows gets viruses all the time and blue screen!"

I don't know, maybe it's because I know how to browse the internet but I rarely ever get any kind of malware and if I do it's easily removed. And blue screens? It's like impossible to get a blue screen since XP unless you actually force it by downloading bad drivers.

I'm kind of surprised by that. Well, not really, although I could never see a use for those sort of specs unless it were for intensive graphics working, music making, or, well, gaming.

Also, I checked something on the Mac OS:

"Though a violation of Apple's EULA,[10] running Mac OS X operating systems compiled for x86 on a non-Apple PC is possible using various kernel modifications, third-party and community drivers, and emulation methods. For example, the PC-EFI[11] project emulates the Extensible Firmware Interface that is normally present on Apple's Intel-based Macs, allowing Mac OS X to be installed on non-Apple hardware."

That sounds like a real pain in the ******** a**. I'd rather just put Windows or Linux on the ********, because unless the Mac OS is going to somehow turn my computer into Optimus Prime, I'm not seeing any reason to bother with it, from my personal standpoint.

I got a bluescreen while trying to put XP onto my new HDD.

Turns out the install disc was scratched. Derp.

Used a different one, worked out fine.

Other than that, yeah. Getting (serious) malware attacks is hard. I've had a couple off and on, but since I prefer to reformat once every year or so, it's no big deal anyways.

Well, it goes back to the ease of use thing. I don't want to patrol where I go on the internet, really, and I don't want to worry about that stuff. Once a month or so I search for viruses, and OSX prompts me before installing or even opening anything. I'm paranoid as hell, and so that's rather reassuring.

Yeah, I sometimes get a blue screen on the windows setup screen but those times have been because of a pretty serious malware infection on other peoples' PCs, or in one case actual hardware failure.

Nothing UBCD couldn't fix though.

And I don't take a lot of caution in searching the internet. I mean, I've been going to crack sites and stuff with banner ads for yeeeears. I just use things like no-script that everybody should be using in the first place.

Windows only gets viruses because people care about exploiting it.

*comes back to find she spawned a 4-page brand war*

slow it down guys, sheesh....

my main reason for not wanting a pc is mainly ease of use..my laptop was a grad gift from my rich aunt and uncle, and I love it. I've had it for two years, with nary a problem until now. I love the interface, general appearance, just everything. PC's seem like a chore to me now, so yeah, I want to stick with what I know.

I grew up on windows, but the instant I got my mac, it was just love at first sight. Lollipop, it would basically be like someone telling you you had to get a mac instead of a pc..you'd do it, but you wouldn't be happy about it, right

I'm not lazy or a retard, or someone who paid $3,000 for an Apple brand computer that has worse specs than my $730 desktop, AHEM.

I love you too, Hael. XD. Anyhow, when I totally get destroyed (Asuming my opponent returns), I'm totally challenging you to a fight in the Exhibition Arena.

Windows gets viruses because it owns like 90 percent of the ******** market share.

The people who make viruses to attack Macs are basically fishing in a smaller pond. You might be more likely to catch a fish, but it's not going to be as big.

Whereas nearly EVERYONE uses Windows (see: 90 percent of the marketshare across XP, Vista, 7, and even 98 ), which is, for people creating these viruses and malware, more like casting out a net into the sea and literally hauling in fishes.

More people using OS = more success for attackers = more attackers deciding to go for the more popular OS. If the positions were reversed and Mac had 90 (or even 50, really) percent of the market share, then the amount of virus attacks and so forth for Mac would rise exponentially.

Using a Mac is basically getting yourself security from the fact that you'll rarely, if ever deal with dangerous attacks on your computer, but at the cost of being patently ignored by a good chunk of the program market, because everyone's going to develop games and programs for the OS that has the lion's share of customers.

In turn, Windows is basically getting yourself a MUCH broader, more expansive range of versatility in what sort of programs you have access to, but in return you're more likely to be a target.
