Atem gave her a look like, 'yeah, so?' and Seto decided to step in. "Not only that, my pharaoh, but she will not be a wise choice. She is very untrustworthy. As time passes she will only be bad for your kingdom. Please reconsider." His blue eyes were fixed in a cold stare at his cousin's face.

Atem frowned, now more awake. "Oh, now stop it. You guys are just being mean. She must have just made you upset. That doesn't matter. I'm pharaoh and what I say goes." He was stubborn like a child.

Seto smiled wryly at Ayira. "She didn't dare insult you directly, though, pharaoh. What she said, I believe, is that she knew we were cousins but that we didn't seem alike in the sense that I was rather attractive." He spoke modestly and chose not to quote her words exactly-- Atem might be angrier at 'extremely handsome' than 'rather attractive.'
Atem hadn't liked listening to Ayira criticize him, but what Seto said made the pharaoh's cheeks darken in anger. Finally he managed to gather up whatever was left of his pride and said bitterly, “You’re a terrible liar, Seto.”

Kabi couldn’t have picked worse timing to decide to show up. She appeared in the doorway, her dark eyes shining madly. Luckily, Atem hadn’t gone too far into his rage. Seeing her seemed, in fact, to calm her down some. She bowed courteously to him, and glanced towards Seto. “Good morning, my pharaoh! I did as you asked and spoke with your wife. She got angry and almost shouted at me.”

"I didn't say she did shout." Kabi said stubbornly, going over to the pharaoh and sitting next to him on the bed. He hugged her, glaring sharply at his cousin. Because of this, he didn't notice the look Kabi gave Seto-- it was the same kind of look the pharaoh used to give Bakura. It made Seto's skin crawl. "But she did get snappish. She's mean, pharaoh."

Kabi rolled her eyes expressively and Atem scowled at Ayira. "Seto, you and her can leave now. Oh, wait..." He said, as Seto began to leave. "That healer you killed yesterday. He seemed to have lived here his life. His daughters work as cleaners here. Dismiss them, if you will. Kill them if they put up an argument."

Atem shrugged and looked towards his priest. Seto's jaw tightened. He began to shake his head, but just bit down on his tongue sharply. "Of course, pharaoh. As we royals should know, a person should pay for their parent's crimes." He said darkly, to answer Ayira's question. "Would you like me to hang myself as well? My father seemed to be a rather evil man."
