I watched a program on television once where students had to build a container to house one chicken egg. The catch was that it had to survive a 30 foot fall and protect the egg inside from breaking. *laugh*

The students were allowed to use thin dowels, glue, rubber bands, and I think some twine. It was hilarious to watch the tests. The teacher would hoist up the egg-box onto this big old cherry picker and then drop it while everyone watched. The ground was soaked in egg very quickly. Some students actually managed to build some very nifty containers and keep their eggies intact.

I remember having to do that in 8th grade science, and again sophmore year during a Student Council trip.

If anyone would like to do me a favor, I need another file conversion done. Here's the pic:

I managed to get an egg to surive a 15 foot drop. And launch a bottle rocket so high in the air that we lost site of it. when it landed, we had to pull it out of the ground. The impact competely distroyed the poor thing.
then we had a bridge building contest, that we could use only little pieces of balsa wood. I got mine to hold the most weight in my class!

I had to do an eggie toss of a huge building in elementary school. We could use whatever we wanted though. I stuck mine inside some napkins, popped it in a brown paper bag, attatched a parachute, and bam. All done with a perfect eggie. :3

I got to use balsa wood to make a rubber band powered car. On my 1st run, whish was going to just be a test run, it went really far. I ended up taking 2nd place, and this was amonst all the area schools, too. 3nodding
