Now that I think about it, why can't we have a fourth mod character that specialises in ranged attacks?
I mean, we have magic divided into support and attack, and each has its mod, why can't weaponry be divided the same way?
That way can have two female and two male mods. Equality?

@Bapp It's like I make a living pointing out the flaws in your ideas...
The difference between Spiritualism and Spellcasting isn't as simple as "support" and "offensive" magic. For one thing, Spiritualism has offensive skills, and Spellcasting has healing skills. They're different in their intrinsic principles. Spiritualism is primarily a path of faith, driven by the Overseer. Anyone can pick up the magic, but to be a true spiritualist and to earn a place amongst the clergy you need to connect with your belief on a supranatural level and channel it through yourself. Spellcasting is wizarding or sorcery, control of the elements and manipulation of their energies in the physical world outside of your own body.
Now, to get to your actual point - I can see why the split between melee/ranged makes sense in your mind, but honestly? There's no point. Combat is combat, and with a combat instructor who can cover all bases... why do we need another instructor?
That said, if it were a popular idea I have a feeling Gloria could step up for ranged. THEN AGAIN, you don't know who the new mod is going to be. It might be a woman, not a man. So then we'd have three women and one man. Equality?

gonk Your whole statement sounded so biased towards magic~! Combat deserves the same treatment~!!
'Combat is combat' is kinda like saying 'magic is magic', and even if the combat instructor is well-versed in both it doesn't mean he's the best. I mean, if you're a pure close-range master I'm sure you'd be better than someone who has 'mastered' both and tries to fight you in close range. It's not like you'd be able to pull off long-range attacks when the close-ranger is constantly chasing you down. Also, I mean, come on, there's still a limit on how many weapons one man can carry on his body.
Close-range combat has it's own ranged attacks too, like shockwaves in videogames and stuff...
And some videogames have archers which have awesome skills that can be used at close-range.
And since you decide who becomes mod in the end, its within your jurisdiction to be able to control the number of male-female mods.

The statement was only biased towards magic because I was explaining how the different schools of magic work o__o Since your definition didn't cut it.
I don't quite see your point on the subject of instructors. A 'master' of both fields is certainly capable of instructing in both. In fact, the entire point of being a 'master' of both is to counter your statement - that ranged are not effective when you're being chased down, just as melee is not effective when you keep your distance. As a 'master' of both, all bases are covered. Of course, some of us counter that with a ridiculous weapon that is both long and short ranged, don't we, Bapp?
"Shockwaves in video games and stuff." ...Tch. Just tch. And in case you haven't noticed, we did have a dualist path, which is going to be improved and expanded upon in v2. Gloria herself is a dualist.
And I honestly don't see your point about male:female ratio. Technically there were only two MODS until recently - one male and one female. Just because there's one extra male character doesn't mean anything o_O Why is this important...?

If we have more mods slots more people can be mods, right?
An if an instructor can teach both doesn't mean he has the time to... Not like our instructors do anything much other than blow holes in buildings.
There were THREE mod characters though. Two male one female.
