"Oh, great," Earendil moaned. He was hungry - he wanted to eat.
The only good thing about hunting Nina was that she was noisy. She should therefore be easier to follow.
"Well," he sighed, smiling again, "we'd best get going then."
And he started off, following the string as quickly as he could without running.

"Pick me up," Lin looked up at Earendil as she tried to catch up, "You can go faster that way."
The faster they got to the end of the thread, the faster they could find Nina which meant food.
Yue nodded and waved a bit before motion to Triton. So the two can have their rest for the night.

Eärendil nodded and reached down to scoop Lin up into his arms. She didn't seem the type to want to be held like a baby, though admittedly that was his first instinct because of her size, so he moved her up to his shoulder instead, and made sure he had a good grip on her so that she wouldn't fall.
"All set?" he asked, still moving swiftly through the halls.

The nice thing about being her size was that she could sit on shoulders, even though she wasn't as small as an angelic, she was still quite small. Lin reached up and pushed herself up onto his shoulder, balancing herself there.
"I'm all set," she told Earendil.

Earendil nodded and followed the string as quickly as he could, pulling it in as he went so that if indeed Nina was wandering, she couldn't wander much further than she already had.
"How much line did you let out on your way to find me?" he asked Lin curiously.

"I dont' know...." Lin replied with a blink, "I had to go back the way I came first and then look for you."
Meanwhile Nina was sniffing around the hallways for something interesting. Considering the kirin had a short attention span to begin with.

"Well how long did it take for you to get from Nina to me?" Earendil pressed, twisting his question to get a more direct response. He had a pretty good idea of how quickly the child moved, and if he knew how long it had taken her, he might be able to figure out - roughly - how far away the kirin was.

"Uhm...." Lin had to really think about that since it was hard to tell how fast time passed sometiems, "Probably ten minutes? Somewhere around there?"
She shrugged a bit, she didn't think Nina could be that far.

Ten minutes. Assuming their time was measure the same way, that meant he could probably overcome her in a third of that - or less. He was after all a lot bigger than Lin, and had a much longer stride.
But if Nina had wandered in another direction ...
"Do you want to play a trick on her?" he suggested suddenly, wondering even as he asked if it would be a good idea.

"What sort of trick?" Lin inquired curious as to what he had in mind.
She would have not thought of playing a prank of any sort before.

"Nothing big," Earendil replied, refraining from shrugging for fear of shrugging the little girl right onto the floor. "Just sneaking up on her ... invisibly."
He had done that to many people over the years, and it scared them almost every time.

Lin thought about that, she wasn't sure actuaqlly. It sounded okay to her, that there would be no harm in trying such a trick.
"Okay!" Lin replied thoughtfully, "We can try."

Earendil took a deep breath and started humming softly, but once again it was silent; instead of producing sound, he and Lin were caught up in his magic and both of them vanished from sight. Now as long as they didn't make any noise, no one would know they were there.
He swept through the maze quickly, following the string, feeling strangely certain that the lost kirin wasn't far ahead.

Lin watched, things didn't seem any different, and yet she had a feeling something changed even though she didn't know what it was quite yet. Yet she could feel it.
Meanwhile Nina was sniffing around not that far up ahead, for she had caught whiff of something. Perhaps something someone dropped, or maybe it was a bug... not that such things would be allowed to continue crawling around inside a castle, but a castle that big with a huge maze one never knew.

As the prince turned a corner, ther kirin came into sight. He smiled invisibly to himself, and, pulling Lin from his shoulder, set her on the floor gently, silently, keeping her as invisible as he himself. He didn't know what she would do, but he was curious to see.
They were close to Nina now ... only a few short feet away.
