There are some band-lations, but most are just joke hook-ups just to waste time during like a competition or something.

Bus rides do get long..... sweatdrop

my band has lots of "band-lations" and they last for very long times...our director calls "hand checks" for the happy couples and if their hands dont get above their heads fast enough they get a warning and next time they get seperated...

That relationships within the band are blooming all over the place... and even cross instrument!

It suprises me that there arent that many band relationships out there! In my MB, everyone dates everyone! My co section leader on trumpet was dating our drum major last year, so of course the drum major treated me like crap and pretended i wasnt co section leader. Then there was my best friend Lexy on baritone who dated our other baritone Ty. Then I dated Ty (hey, he's the only guy I've ever dated. I'm such a loser crying ...), then our center snare dated our drum major this year, now hes dating one of our saxes, and then one of our guard was dating one of our baritones, but then they broke up, but now they are back together. We have so many relationships!

Now heres the funny part. We have 48 band and guard (we are SO SO SO small!!! crying ), and only 9 of them are straight guys. You do the math. 9 guys and about 36 girls. That makes band relationships VERY VERY interesting (and girl fights very very funny!)

Your a lonely loser JR like me, too!!! Yay, Im not alone in the lonliness!! I thought I was so pathetic! being a junior, and I've only dated like 1 guy, and that was for like a week, last year. I've never even kissed anyone before. So know that your not alone out there!

Sinsa
(I'm new here btw)

Most bands have at least 1 pair of kids who are in a relationship, in our band we call it a "Band-lationship". Now, we had one band-lationship in our highschool band last year, now, at retreat girls can't go into guys cabins and guys can't go into girls cabins (god only knows what happend to cause that). While I wasn't in highschool when this happend I was in jazz band with these 2 kids and they really did go at it (silly altos).
Since then these 2 have gone diffrent ways (the chick quit band) and up till now there hasnt been a "Band-lationship". Now I am going out with the bass trombone and we are the "Band-lationship". He sits right next to me in band, both Jazz and stage (I play bass clarinet in stage and trombone in jazz) so we are the butts of many jokes.

Now, onto my actual topic, do you have a "band-lationship" in your band? If so has anything funny or annoying happend from it at retreat, camp, tour, or concerts?

Damn that was long....

OMG! There's so many band-lationships in my school band. Now whenever we go on trips we can't share blankets. And our band director told us today that we're not even allowed to share blankets with people of the same sex... *dosn't want to know what happened last year...* But yea, it's kinda weird..... >.>

Really...I think there is only an 8th grade flute and 9th grade trumpet in a band-lationship, though there arent any jokes...oh yea thats cuzthis is myschool band, we tend to stay in our own groups sweatdrop

I could make a huge diagram of all of the relationships that have happened in my band. Currently we have quite a few people paired up, we have one color-guard girl who is... I guess I could say "easy" and be nice about it... and has had several relationships in band, one of which spawned a semi-legendary incident on the band bus going to and from DCI (watching of course) that I don't wish to fully describe, and worse things have happened still. I am currently in a very very happy band-lationship, I was in one before this but it wasn't wonderful, not very serious either, most of the couples in my band, now that I think about it, are actually nearly perfect couples.

We have two directors, it's a weird situation, our primary director whom we all love and who has been at our school for almost as long as I've been alive (we don't have to refer to him as Mr. anything, just the first letter of his name, or just saying his last name) and then there's our associate director who is much less lovable and not well liked. Our good old director really doesn't care about what we do. His policy is something along the lines of "If you're not hurting anyone or damaging something, I'm not going to say anything." The other guy, not so much, bit tight on that. I think people are learning to be more secretive with their romantic encounters so we don't end up having to sit apart from those of the opposite sex. I felt like sharing these things.

We've got quite a few band-lationships.

Our pit section leader has been going out with the drumline section leader for seven and a half months and going now... My section leader (trumpet) is going out with a bass drummer, and our baritone player is going out with another bass drummer. Our freshman first trumpet is going out with a mellophone player (they're sooo cute! whee ) The saxophone section leader is going out with the person in pit who plays drumset. I'm kiiinda in a band-lationship with a snare drummer now, but it's not official or anything.. whee

All the couples get separated on the bus. We're assigned to our buses... we don't even need two buses, but two buses we get. We all think our band director and the parents are purposely separating us... The drumline-pit, trumpet-bass drummer band-lationships get just a little PDA-ish, I guess.

So... our arrangement for the Tournament of Bands competition last week was basically...

Bus 1
- Drumline
- Colorguard
- Saxophones
- Clarinets

Bus 2
- Trumpets
- Low Brass
- Flutes
- Pit

It makes us sad.

Last Saturday, when we actually had time to slack off (our schedule was parade, football game, field show that day) the pit section leader sat in the drumline's section leader and they just talked and they got told off by the parent of our assistant drum major for it... Same with the trumpet sectionleader and the bass drummer, but they just hug.

in our wind ensemble, their aren't many band-lationships, but half of my grade (7th) know that i really really like this eighth grader, and they think we are perfect cause we both play percussion.

of course, if you look at beginning band...that's another story, and i'm not sure about concert band and symphonic band.

but you know what sucks? When your bd finds out who you like through accident, then he/she will bug you about it every week when you have to stay for private lessons...

Hey, my bandlationship perservered through the 5 yards phase that was instigated by Ms. Pair, okay? So give us some credit. 3nodding
