The refreshment stand seemed as good a place as any to linger at, regardless of the various fleeing attendants. Niksia didn't mind, she liked the thought of the Raevans going off and doing other things for themselves. It was a shame she hadn't been able to speak to many, they seemed easier to talk to than most people.

Holding her mint green plushie to her chest, Niksia continued to watch the other people still gathered around the area. Her shoulders were still cold but she was willing to put up with it, being nosy could take your mind off most things.

"We couldn't go either if it was going to be today. After this we have to go home and fix a few things that got broken..." Lillian grumbled recalling the booby traps that were suspicously crushed a few days ago. If someone had tried to get into their home again, they luckily weren't able to get passed the front gate.

"Marmaduke is a big great dane! He's huge and is the size of a pony!" Tyson told him as he let go of Aphismet to show how tall Marm was. The dog was bigger than Tyson it looked like by how Tyson was standing up on his tippy toes.

"So you and your little brother both have raevan's? You are both so lucky! I wish I had a super friend! I haven't seen them yet though...well, if they are at the park we'll see them!" Tyson told him with more laughs as he got back down to his normal height. Trying to recall if he ran into anyone fitting that description.

"Tyson...if we were the caretakers of one of these Raevan's...I would hope they had enough energy to keep you distracted long enough for me to clean the house."
Lillian grumbled remembering she had to do that too. Their home was collecting dust and it was not a healthy atmosphere for a growing boy.

Rivener was startled. Roux wanted to stay, now? After all the barely contained annoyance at the whole thing? Riv looked around... It was more palatable now that there were no waving doves, pouncing cherubs, or flying witch-Aphrodites. The lack of music was a big plus, as well. It was almost... peaceful.

Riv sat back down, having let go of the other when he straightened, after the crash. "Alright, we stay," Riv agreed. "What do we do?" He asked soon after, reaching out a finger for the other's hair, playing with a little strand very softly, trying not to disturb the other too much.

It was dark here, and while it wasn't really considered "warm", it was still away from the snowy outdoors. Riv was more comfortable here. He smiled sensually at the other, watching his expression in the dim light. It was pleasant to try and read him, although Riv would have to pay more attention than normal; he didn't want to irritate the other, or cause him more stress. Riv wondered if there was anything he could do to help with the feathers, but there was no way for him to ask...

Aph laughed. The little tyke was so full of energy! Aphismet could almost remember being that way himself when he was younger, before that Incident... It was nice to see.

"Woooow, that is a big dog!" Aph said with the appropriate expression of amazement. "You can't be telling the truth," he teased, bending over to hover his hand a mere three inches off the ground. "I'm sure he's only this big," he smiled.

Aph laughed and spoke to Lillian. "He looks like a handful to raise; you live on your own with him?" He was a little jealous, to tell the truth, that they had each other. At least now, he had Isi... He used to be so lonely.

Roux sighed, he didn't want to have to think of everything but it seemed like Rivener couldn't come up with anything to do. He inwardly twitched when the other reached over to touch his hair, frowning deeply. He leaned away slightly.

He would have been content to just sit still and be alone in the darkness, it would give Rivener time to compliment him some more.

A small idea wriggled itself into Roux's mind though and he frowned, reaching forward with both hands, fingers slightly crooked. Ice crystals slowly began to take shape floating above his palms, they glittered faintly in the light that seeped in through the doorway.

The crystals turned graceful beneath Roux's mental command, slowly growing, forming together, turning, twisting and curving until...

..they took the shape of himself in miniature, the ice as crystal clear and smooth as though it had been made from an expert glass craftsman. The ice sculpture floated above his palm, looking absolutely perfect in all ways if Roux could say so himself.

The edge of his lip twitched upward.

"No! I'm telling the truth! He is no chi-chi dog!" Tyson cried at Aphismet, the chi-chi dog meaning a chihuahua.

Lillian looked taken back by Aphismet's question, "Ah...well...we--"

"Yep!"
Tyson boasted, puffing his chest out as he took over speaking. Leaving Lillian to listen and give Aphismet uneasy looks. "Lillian takes care of me and Marmaduke, and my hamster Tony! We build traps too to stop the burglars from taking anymore of our stuff! Our house is filled with things from all over the world! You should see it! But we have to give you a map of our yard, we don't want you to get caught in the booty traps..wait...I mean booby!" Tyson told him, a wide smile on his face finding nothing wrong with telling him. He was proud to speak of it, of course Aphismet was the only person he ever told.

Lillian just stared at her little brother like she just took a hit to the stomach and now was recovering from getting the wind knocked out of her."T-Tyson..." She said softly with a stutter. Lillian looked back to Aphismet her eyes wide and the color drained from her face. How many times did she tell Tyson not to tell anyone of their situation? If someone were to tell the police that a sixteen year old was living in a house with a eight year old without any guardian they'd be in big trouble. Sure, their parents rarely showed interest in them, but if they found out Lil had been lying to them that's where they'd jump in, but only to show her how upset they were.

Rivener took his hand back when Roux twitched away. Riv always felt a twinge of annoyance when the other refused him contact, but he respected the other's space. He's sat back, giving the other room. For a moment, when the other had lifted his hands, fingers curved like talons, Riv had been afraid; he realised that if Roux wanted, with his ice power, he could kill Rivener in a heartbeat.

But, that wasn't the Ice Frei's intent this time, thankfully.

Rivener had watched Roux create that thing in mid air, his eyes wide. He had no idea Roux's power could be used for anything other than destruction. This was beautiful! Riv felt slightly jealous. The only time he'd had any kind of power like this, was when he'd been under the influence of Laz's blood, for that short week... He reached up with a finger, as though to touch the crystallized Roux, but didn't dare. "That's amazing, Roux. So beautiful..." He smiled both at the statue, and its maker. "So very beautiful."

He leaned back, not wanting to be in the other's space again. "Does it stay forever? Or just as long as your magic is in it?" he asked. He would very much like to have it, if it was possible. He imagined the ice would most likely melt, though...

"I'm jealous," he admitted after a while. "All I can do is poison." He had learned of a few more lately, and hadn't been able to use them. For some reason, he doubted Roux would be interested in such things.

Aphismet's smile had taken on a confused, yet tolerant tone. By the sounds of it, the two were holed up somewhere and trying to keep people out. He gave Lillian a questioning glance, but kept his smile. "Umm, are you two really okay?" He took a few steps closer, keeping his voice down. "I know how it can be... I've been a-alone for a long time too. At least you have each other! And that's always better than an O-O..orphanage... " He swallowed at the thought. He was damn glad he hadn't had to stay there long. "If there's anything I can do to help..."

The twitch of his lip grew into a full smile, a rare expression for Roux. He leaned back further in the seat, moving to hold out the sculpture for Rivener to take if he wished. His wings gave a small rustle of pleasure at the compliments that rolled off of Rivener's tongue.

"Ice." Was his only reply, moving one hand away to lightly take the sculpture and hold it delicately out to the other. As soon as his focus on it went away the ice lost it's impossibly cold temperature, soon it would begin to melt, unless placed in a cooler or freezer.

Roux's head tilting slightly to the side at the mention of poison, then shrugged it away - it wasn't anything as spectacular as his own talents, of that he was sure. Despite the praise things were getting boring again and Roux turned his attention once more on Rivener, reaching out to touch his hair - for some reason he was drawn to the dark Raeven's long, silken hair. It was nice to touch.

"Delicious.." His voice was a low murmur as he looked over the more tanned skin of the Frei beside him, eyes half closed. A new spark of interest took hold in Roux as another, less explainable feeling slowly began forming.

Lillian laughed weakly as she shook her head. Her hands rose up to join in the shaking.'No! Oh no! We're fine! We have it handled, everything is going well. You don't have to trouble yourself in anyway. Yes, it is a lot better than an orphanage...I'm so glad we're not there. I'm sorry that you had to suffer there. But really, we're just fine on our own. Please...just don't tell anyone. If our parents found out that I let the nanny go we're in deep trouble." Lillian pleaded with Aphismet, her calmness wavering as she began to drown in fear.

"Yeah! We have a baseball bat in every room incase the bad guys get in again!" Tyson told Aphi with an even wider grin. "Our traps are even better now too! We're safe, we're strong, and we have a lot of money to get things we need. We're all set!"

Lillian groaned and put a hand to her face wishing Tyson would just be quiet for once. Why did he have to make poor sweet Aphismet worry? She had everything covered, they didn't need Aphismet's help or concern. She was handling it just fine! If you can't take care of yourself when you're a teenager than you can't make it through life when you're an adult. Atleast, that's what Lillian had been telling herself for quiet sometime now.

Rivener did reach out and take the icy sculpture, and although the ice was no longer impossibly cold, it was still uncomfortable in Riv's hands. He reached down and wrapped some of his ribbons around the edge, so that he could hold it without numbing his fingers. He smiled and stared at the beautiful replica. He wished he could keep it, but just placing it in his freezer at home seemed like a disrespectful thing to do; this should be displayed in a glass case, somehow. But the ice would melt with time...

He turned his eyes to the other's, when he felt Roux's fingers in his hair. For a second, Riv was struck with a wave of jealousy; why did Roux get to touch him, but he couldn't touch Roux? The feeling passed quickly, though, as the other kept looking at him and playing with his hair. Riv smiled again.

"Want to taste?" he said with a sudden playful smirk, leaning forward ever so slighlty, giving the other that smoldering look that he'd been forcing himself not to do all the time, although it was hard... He had to keep this look for those he liked, instead of wearing it every day. This definately qualified as a time to wear it.

Aphismet smiled uneasily. Bats in every room? Bad guys always coming in? "A-are you sure? Sounds like you're in quite a situation... Do you really get attacked by people that often? And," he asked, confused, "why do you say you'd be in the orphanage, if you have parents? Are they gone all the time?"

Aphismet was more than a little worried now. It sounded so serious! Surely the girl was only acting like she had it all under control, to keep Aph from worrying. "I... I won't tell anyone if it means that much to you, but it sounds so dangerous!"

Roux's eyes narrowed, deciding that he didn't mind it when Rivener moved closer, that sultry smile spreading across his features only made it even more alright. Roux pressed his lips into a thin line, looking up at Rivener whom he'd naturally floated lower than as soon as he got closer.

Taste? Taste what, there wasn't any foods around to sample so Roux could only assume that he meant himself. Once more an eyebrow arched, looking a bit unimpressed with the offer at first.

And then he leaned slightly forward, eyelids closed to half-mast in an expression none had ever seen before - it was one of Roux's own bedroom stares, lips slightly open in curiosity. Rivener seemed eons more interesting than ever before, the strong curve to his jaw as opposed to Roux's softer, the small, thin horns that curved through his hair, the breadth of his shoulders.

Roux gave a soft, noncommital sound, head canting upward slightly in an invitation to touch.

"Once, they only got in once and that was because we forgot to lock the doors and windows. The only reason we have a lot of bats is because I'm...umm...paranoid." Lillian told him as she tried to come across sure of herself.

"Our parents are big photo-photograp....they take a lot of pictures." Tyson told him, giving up on saying photographers since it was too hard for him. "They don't come home a lot, but they send us all sorts of pictures and things they find and buy when they are in a place! Our house is full of it!"

Lillian nodded as Tyson spoke, taking over once he finished,"But really, I have it handled. We also have Marmaduke, he barks so much it makes it sound like there is more than one dog in the house. Not a lot of people will even walk close to our house because of it."

Relief rushed over Lillian as Aphismet spoke of not telling. Good. That was what she was hoping he was going to say,"Oh! Thank you so much for not saying anything to anyone." Her voice was riddled with happiness that their parents wouldn't find out.

"It's not that dangerous though, we have enough money to get by and we have a safe house to live in. It's nice to see you're so concerned but no need to fret. I'm old enough to take care of these things. I've had it running smoothly for a few months now. But, enough of that! What day would you and your family be able to go to the park with us?" Lillian asked, trying to change the subject. She had enough of his concern on that silly little topic. Why dwell on it further? All was well...it wasn't dangerous...Aphismet just didn't understand her reasons. They were good reasons! She could justify her actions on their living if asked, but no one asked so it was fine.

Rivener noticed their difference in height almost immediately, and his smile spread wider, confident and full of pride. He really liked Roux a lot, and knowing that he was one of the only people who was allowed to float above the other made him like this even more. Despite all of the other's power, Rivener was the "alpha" here, now. His red eyes glittered: he was pleased.

When Roux tilted his head to invite contact, Riv leaned down and brushed his lips along Roux's, before locking them in a kiss.

Aphismet could not normally see when people were trying to steer conversation away from a certain topic, but when Lillian did it, even Aphismet could see. He smiled at her in a very big-brotherly fashion, and nodded.

Turning his eyes to Tyson, Aph grinned. "That sounds really exciting! All those new things coming all the time... Your house must be like a museum!" He straightened, to speak to the sister. "As for the day at the park, how about next weekend? There should still be plenty of snow to play in..."
PostPosted: Sun Feb 25, 2007 3:03 pm

Lillian was relieved when they got away from that topic. She didn't want to feel unsure of something that was already created.

"It is!! We have plants! And masks! And baskets! And jewels! And jewelry! And swords! And arrows! And bows! And clothing! Tons of pictures! And my least favorite but they are still pretty cool is animals that have been stuffed and bones of others. Lillian keeps those in the basement though. They are really creepy and sad to look at. Ma and Pops send them to us even though we told them no...they say it's for themselves though when they come home."
Tyson him with even more of his youthful eagerness. As he talked, it didn't even look like he took a breath to refill his lungs.

When Lillian got the chance to break into Tyson's childish ramblings, her voice had returned to normal. No longer was she nervous or stressed about Aphismet knowing."Hmm...next weekend? Sounds good to us. I think we have the day off from work then. I can't wait to meet the rest of your family."

'Even if we have to meet them with that rude raevan included....but Ty likes him so I'll just have to learn how to put up with him.' The girl thought grimly...Even though Aphi promised that Rivener would be better, she'd have to see it to believe it.

While at the refreshment booths stood a clueless Lazarus. Flowers? He's asking me about the flowers? Lazarus looked down at the booth laying in front of him, and there they are - a variety of flowers places in water filled silver buckets. But... Lazarus is absolutely clueless when it comes to flowers. The only flower he could recognise was the red rose, he saw guys giving them to girls like in television shows before. And there were 3 buckets filled with them, obviously they're not for friends.

"Uh..." Lazarus muttered as he stared at the flowers in front of him. Picking up some yellow roses because he don't feel like picking the pink ones, he showed it to Josh. "Will this one do?" he asked uncertainly.
Josh nodded politely, “They look great!” Even if the raevan feigned not knowing anything about flowers, the ones he chose were perfect in Josh’s opinion. They had shown in a magnificent display of yellow hues with light orange undertones, each one dazzling to the eyes. He dug into his wallet once again producing a few small bills; enough to pay for three the pale yellow roses he figured. He felt that his visit with Lazarus was too short winded though. Josh pondered a way to lengthen their interaction.
~~~~
He noticed the raevan’s lack of business now that another person had stolen the attention away for him. Josh looked around and found his gaze falling upon the large crackling fire close by in the center of the festival. Josh’s eyes shot back towards Lazarus. “Would you like to see the bonfire with me.” His question was politely asked in the warmest tone he could muster.
Josh frowned harshly at the fiery raevan’s lack of an answer. He proceeded to leave the money on the table in front of Lazarus and took the roses graciously from the raevan. Josh started off on a brisk pace away from the refreshment stand trying to return to the other spectacles going on throughout the festival.
~~~~~
Josh made his way over to a large heap of wood that somehow seemed to have formed into a ride. The sign above it stated ‘The Tunnel of Love’ in bold red letters. In some areas the paint seemed smeared and covered by handprints as if they were trying to make it look more like fake blood than romantic entrance. Josh’s face crinkled into disgusted grimace, these kinds of rides weren’t necessarily his favorite pastime. He would’ve instantly wandered away from the ride, except, he found that his auburn eyes locked on to the wobbly form of Eiry. He smiled and set off towards the mint hued creature; he still had the small bouquet of yellow-orange hinged roses to give the young raevan. He walked up in front of Eiry and smiled dazzlingly at him, “Hello, I wanted to say sorry… for making you cry earlier.” He held the bouquet of flowers out to the raevan with shaky hands, causing a few petals to drop delicately from the blossoms. He prayed that Eiry would understand his gestures.
