He didn't jump, Damion could take pride in that, but to say he wasn't suprised would be a lie. Anyone viewing him from the front would have seen the sudden twitch of his eyes widening, his chest tightening until he calmed. It was a voice he knew and welcomed, and as he turned a smile found a way onto his face disguised as a smirk, " Pretty fancy for a martial art, but it is pretty. You'd think more people would use it."
He turned alittle more towards Maximos, his upper body pivoting so that his neck didn't hurt, " I'm suprised to see you here though Maximos." And he was. Damion concidered himself a man with many friends, but it wasn't often he got to see any of them, and it was hard to charge a phone when you don't have any electricity. Hell, he wasn't even sure where it was anymore.
When His friend asked to sit though, the elemental simply smiled wider and motioned with his hand, setting his styrofoam bowl down in his lap for amoment," What am I gonna do, tell you to go away?" a soft laugh followed his statement, Damion finding his humor improving with continued conversation. He was never alone, but dealing with someone who acted superior all the time was wearing on the nerves and mood. " What flavor did you get?"

" I'm suprised to see you here though Maximos." Business.
Maximos said with something like a sigh. And that was exactly what it had been. One client to the next, making sure ingredients were going to be supplied, checking up on details, research....it was all very tiring work. Not the sort of tiring you get when facing an army by yourself, but certainly its own brand of taxing.
Now it was time to relax. And it was good to see a friend. Damion was motioning toward the seat, and Maximos was smiling ear to ear.
" What am I gonna do, tell you to go away?" Well you could...but that might not have the most positive effect on your employment.
He said with a chuckle to match his companions, before sitting down and neatly folding his legs indian style before him. A hand moved up to adjust his glasses and then he began stirring the cool contents of the container he had purchased.
" What flavor did you get?"
Said Damion, and Max answered completely truthfully.
I dont know, actually. I hope its good.
And then he took a spoonful. He had spent so much of the day discussing what he knew, working out facts and details and plans and charting away his time that it felt good to just be completely random. Max had picked his snack by pointing at the menu and saying, That one. By the smile on his face, that one was a good one.
It is! Its delicious!
He said after a moment of letting it move around his mouth. And then guiltily he added...
But I still dont know. It has coconuts and something fruit like. How about you?

" I think it's pineapple." He replied, examining the contents of his bowl for amoment, " Or what passes as pineapple in a cold setting." He amended, taking another spoonful.
" You sound tired." Damion mentioned after amoment of silence, atleast on his part, slowly eating his frozen treat and watching the fighters out of the corner of his eye. He could see where moves may be improved and felt himself being dragged in, his mind whirling with possibilities and an almost blank look crossed over his face. It was short lived though, and he'd snap out of it whenever Maximos responded.
The bowl went back down onto his knee, balanced there as the Elemental bent alittle to grab a bottle that had sat on the ground by his feet, a bright orange liquid swirling about inside of it as he gave it a shake. Oranges were not native to Damion's home island, and he'd fallen in love with the little citrus the minute he'd first had one.
With a tilt of his hand he offered the bottle to Maximos, thumb slowly turned the cap.

" I think it's pineapple." Hmm.
Said the Shadow, scooping up a small yellow cube of diced fruit and examining it thoughtfully in the moonlight. Was that what it was?
" Or what passes as pineapple in a cold setting." Well, pass it most certainly does!
He finally decided, letting the cube fall back into the treat before scooping it back up again, this time with more cream, and slipping the spoon past a set of pale lips.
" You sound tired."
With a mouth full of yum, Max didnt say anything at first. But he emphatically nodded. Moments later, he broke the silence as he swallowed and said.
I think so.
But then oddly enough, he shook his head, and tapped his chin with the side of a finger which pinched his spoon.
But not...Its not the same sort of feeling I get after a long fight, or even after a very taxing enchantment. Its as if...
Another pause as Maximos' mind attempted to put something almost entirely foreign into terms he was used to. What was it? So much of Gaia was so very different than anything Aria had ever been.
...Its as if as time pressed forward, civilization has in fact not become more civil, but more petty and greedy. They've simply learned bigger and more complicated titles and traditions and occupations to cover the mess of fears and lies that have made what was once a simple trade, into an all day affair.
The spoon fell into the dessert and stirred it.
I, personally, have never had to write my name down on so many times on so many different colored sheets of paper just to equip myself with decent supplies. Its...exhausting, by means of how purely ridiculous it all seems.
At which point Maximos sighed and looked over to Damion, and found a bottle being offered his way. His sigh turned into a smile, and then a...
Thank you Damion.
And he accepted the bottle in a loosely bandaged hand, taking a small sip before offering it back to the elemental.

" I don't think people really moved anywhere." Damion replied, finding this train of thought easy to hop on to. " It's more like you said, just bigger titles. People are still indulging in the same things that they used to, still baying for blood in the arena, still using their self destructive drugs for amoments pleasure...." He took the bottle back and shot down a swig, smiling for amoment before he shut the cap completely and returned it to the ground.
" But it looks like the people in charge are very intent on remaining in charge, and make things more complicated so that they can keep that power. The common person won't bother to learn the system and they know it." His hands moved as he talked, flipping and rolling to gesture in almost every direction. His eyes were focused ont he dancing flames far ahead of them, letting the blinding light do just that, blind him.
" But then again, I always sign an X on things. Harder to find me if they need to. Course I don't have any papers either."

Max listened, as was his custom. If the Shadow was skilled at anything it was knowing when to take in information and not simply blather about. Damion had lived in this system, this world, longer than he and so he was teaching a very valuable lesson to his blue haired employer. And Max would take it in, fully focused, save for a few spoonfuls of delicious dessert.
After he finished, Max shook his head and placed the empty bowl down in front of him.
...Humans.
He said as he sighed.
Millenia pass and they never change. I suppose somethings truly are eternal.
The statement faded softly into a chuckle as Max began to work his way to a knelt position.
An X huh? I may just have to try that. Thank you Damion, this has been a very relaxing conclusion to very unsettling day.
Max moved to stand, tossing the bowl and spoon into a nearby receptacle. He began to turn away but then stopped and sat back down.
Oh, Mr. Hedley, before I forget. How's that spirit working out for you?

Damion seemed to give a full body twitch at the mention of the Dagon, his feet finding the ground suddenly before he stopped and looked over at Maximos side-long, his head only turning the slightest bit. " It's been an....experience." He wasn't sure how much Maximos knew, if he knew anything at all, but it seemed safe with what he had said, nothing more nothing less.
" I have a home now too, you should come and visit sometime." He added, smiling abit now. While he was still uneasy about his new duties, his home, his swamp, was a source of pleasure. It was a pleasant place, even if for others it might have been suicide to go in.
" Though I don't think this works here anymore." a moment of searching brought out Damions cellphone, presenting it out towards his employer. " I think the battery may be dead."

Along the northern most beach of Gambino Island, a small creature seemed to slosh itself free of the ocean. It was the oddest creature, short, less than a foot tall, it almost kinda looked like an onion. That is, were it not for the face.
Red leaves that seemed to be much thicker than the other peels slowly emerged from the tiny vegetable on the bottom, slowly lifting itself onto what could sort of be referred to as a butt as it shook itself out. For a moment, he looked around confused, looking back to sea.
Waves. So many waves. And miles away, the barely visible island which houses all that's left of the Yggdrasil Tree, a single, tiny sapling on a small island of rich soil.
"Pryuu..."

Flutter had a way of ending up in the oddest of places most unexpectedly. She had begun with using a mirror to talk to her father, and then ended up using the reflective surfaces to travel in between places.
There was the bitter cold that followed her now. It had started when she'd encountered a Plainswalker. He had taken her with him on a 'jump'. She'd emerged from it freezing, and with a perplexed Plainswalker eyeing her up.
She looked around to find herself on a beach. She double checked the color of the sand. It was beige, so she sighed in relief. She waded to the shore, thankful that she'd ended up somewhere shallow. She could wring out her socks, and let her shoes hand up somewhere to dry.
She stopped when she heard a strange sound.
She turned to spot a walking onion.
"Hello?" she called out to it to see if it would 'speak' again.

"Ku-pyru." it responded as it shook itself vigorously. It was some distance from the woman, and thankfully, far enough away to evade throwing beach mud at the woman as it wrung itself. It peered around slowly, giving the weirdest of yawns - "Kyuaaaw..." - before noticing the woman full on. And it was in that moment.
That the creature freaked.
"GWYEEK!" It shrieked before promptly darting away. However, being a small creature, and possibly an infant of some sort, it wasn't terribly bright, and proceeded to run in very tight circles before becoming quite tuckered, tripping over it's own feet and face planting straight into the sands.
"...Pyuk..."

Flutter might be dark around the edges, but she was still a woman at heart. That heart fluttered with compassion at the obvious distress that she'd caused the little fella. Gosh, he was so GD cute. Yes, Flutter's internal monologue was potty mouthed.
Much to the dismay of many that mistook her for a child due to her outward appearance. She'd gone through enough in her life time to fill several lives. It had made her somewhat cynical and pessimistic.
Hard to feel that way watching this little pea pod tucker himself out.
"Here now. You are going to hurt yourself."
Flutter pulled a towel out of her shoulder bag, and began to attempt to gather up the plant baby thingie into it.
"If I find you, then I guess that means I get to name you huh?" she asked cheerfully, several names coming to mind.

He was almost perfectly rounded, once she actually got him up into her arms, his eyes looking up to her in worn frustration. No bigger than a foot across, he just looked like a really big vidalia onion with a very lush green exterior, with a face on the whiter inner peels. Additionally odd, at the base, two large red leaves to act as feet. Kinda floppy looking, but solid enough to balance on.
"...Kyuu?" It trilled out. There was a note of confusion to the creature's voice. Red eyes peered up at her, and it seemed to be trying to burrow into it's own shell - that is to say - the lush outer leaves.

"I don't know much about plants, but you look like a plant to me. All this seawater can't be doing your roots very much good."
She reasoned out loud, more so that the plant thing could hear her voice to get used to it. She was treating the sentient plant the same way she would a wild animal, or a puppy. Gently, but firmly. She had the towel wrapped securely around it, in case there were some nasty thorn action going to happen as a way to defend itself.
Flutter was surprised that someone hadn't tried to eat him yet. He looked like a well done onion, and like he could be eaten. Better not say that part out loud though. She doubted that he wanted to know that she was wondering what he tasted like.
He, she, could be anything right now, but for some reason Flutter wanted to call it a he. Must be all those dangling roots that reminded her of that one root that got a lot of men in trouble most of the time, and with which most of their bad decisions were made with.
She snickered to herself, and walked over to a thick shrub that had wide leaves on it. The leaves with filled with fresh water from a recent rain.
"Hang on little guy, I'm gonna wash the saltwater off of you." she warned him cheerily, dumping the cooler fresh water over top of him.

A very loud, very shrill squeak was issued as the little guy was doused. It wasn't as if he disapproved. Just wasn't expecting it, really. As soon as the stream came to an end, he looked up briefly, almost started to make a sound before abruptly sneezing, which led into a violent shudder. Bits of sand and salt were ejected, but it seemed to retain most of the water.
"Kuu kwee!" He chirped in approval, practically glowing after recovering from it all. For a moment, it looked at the woman before turning to the north, to the sea. In the very far distance, the massive Yggdrasil could still be seen on the shoreline. Just... very far away.
"Puuk." A distinct tone of sadness as the little creature looked at the tree.

Flutter followed his line of vision to the horizon which was dominated by the tree. She guessed that this guy was from that tree.
"Not much room to grow in a place that is filled with a tree like that. Is that where you want to go?" she asked, pointing to the tree over the sea to see if the plant thing would respond.
