The antagonist with absolutely no self confidence. It makes you wonder why he even bothers to challnge the protagonist.

The protagonist whose giant ego is not supported by any actual talent...so a bit of it slips away into the antagonist. Then the antagonist, confidence restored, commences with the pwning of the protagonist-- defeating you in battle, ruining your previously near-golden reputation, and eating all of your Oreos.
He even steals your girlfriend. Talk about kicking a man when he's down!

She looks like a witch who plots against the heroes and sets traps for them, but turns out to be a pawn for a much greater evil.

The Half-bit ninja who wasn't even thought of for the premiere, but a few chapters in, was mentioned at a conference. He lasted six episodes, but mostly just helped the main protagonist out.

The geeky girl who ignores everyone in favor of a book, but when cornered, she kicks everyone's a** without breaking a sweat. She figures out the puzzle so you can get into the final dungeon, and is a necessary character - but you have to find her first.

The character who classically has no memory and is shrouded in mystery. The strangest part is that she just disappears a few episodes in with absolutely no explanation. The other characters act like she was never there (though the whole reason they started their quest was to help her).
