After all, what IG player doesn't enjoy one-upping the Emporer's genetically-altered superhuman warriors now and again. However, you don't need that much dakka for a space marine, though. All you need is the right special/heavy weapon. Remember kids, Mortars are not only the cheapest Fire-Support Unit, but they cause pinning too!

Then again when I do get into h2h agiainst imps they usually fight a wraithlord., back-up by a farseer, and 2 starcannons. Not including the one mounted on my lord.

Hell, my unit of the 'Emporer's Rain' has never failed me yet. except that one time when they were charged by a nightbringer...

mortars are fun. sure, they don't cause pinning very often against a space marine, but they still have to roll an armor save. Heck, I myself failed TWO saves against ONE mortar. It happens.

It happens. Yup, it does. As it stands, the mortars are ok, just not exceptional. I would rather have an Earthshaker canno.

All the Guard only weapons are pretty useful. My Inquisitorial Stormtroopers use as many Grenade Launchers as I can give them, they are probably the most versitile weapon in the game and they look awsome with a bayonet made from 'Nid scything talons.

Well, then again, using them as Stormtroopers, they also get the Hellguns, right? If that is the case, then it makes them even better.

Hellguns are not the almighty weapons people think they are in Guard armies. Not when you can give a Seargent a Bolter for a single point....
