No idea, five volumes are out so far with no ending in sight right yet, the series is still going strong in Japan.

I have to say the fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden is better then the original... Miaka in the first one is way too... How do I say this.. sweatdrop cheerful... I mean its good to be cheerful, but she takes it past annoying... But I love the priestess for Genbu Kaiden, Takito is awesome! I mean she can actually fight back, unlike Miaka who sort of screamed or ran off.... Or hid behind her protectors.. But anyways.. Enough of me dissing Miaka... xp I love all of Yuu Watases works, but this one of my favs, next to abosolute Boyfriend...

I read that Watase was ill. If she is, I hope getting herself healthy is her top priority so she doesn't over exhert herself from work. n.n

I have volumes 1 and 2.
I don't think it's going to be better than the original but atleast the main character isn't annoying like Miaka. @_@
Watase is sick? *huge uber gasp* I hope she gets better.
She practically works herself to death.

Five volumes in and it's already kicked the original's a** IMO >_> The original really was kind of weak. Don't get me wrong, I loved it, but I was 14. Satisfying teenagers isn't hard to do. Now that I'm older I'm a lot more skeptical and picky about story and characters, etc.

i've read the first three books and i think its really good...tho i still like the original fushigi yuugi series with miaka, tamahome, etc....I like that dude (rimundo...?) tho who can turn into a woman...!!!! biggrin biggrin

I only bought the first 2 books. I still havent got to the store to buy the third book. crying I plan on getting it next week though. heart

I finally read books 1-3 and own book 1, and all I have to say is Limdo RIMUDO = love.
From the first time you meet him (I was in a bookstore when I read it, so I didn't get that he was in girl form until I saw the boobies. Then I knew it had to be another Ranma. xp ) I LOVED him.
Bet you anything that Takiko and him will end up together.
But I agree with the rest, I like this one better than the original FY because Miaka...she just bugged me. She was a bit of a wimp and wayyy too cheerful. I liked Yui better from the start.
But Takiko seems a lot more mature, and she ain't a wimp. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
Edit: Can't Viz ever translate things RIGHT?

I love Rimudo, he's such a strong male character. I like strong men who fight for love! But arent clingy.
Rimudo and Takiko will end up together, because if they don't many fans will just die inside.
I do hope that it doesnt end like Fushigi Yugi, with him being wished into her world and then *poof* there he is and there is his shadow self...Miaka really pissed me off with all of that.
I do have the feeling that Takiko and Rimudo will die. I think she'll find a great way to show their death and bringing them together, but I just have a gut feeling that they'll die.
I feel perverted, but I'm actually disappointed that we wont see Rimudo and Takiko have sex. Its something weird about me, but I enjoy knowing the characters showed there love that way. It seems like the stories Watase does without the main characters having sex are strong stories, but very finiky romance wise. Like Alice and Imadoki, you don't really see the couple until the very end. I wonder if she can work that in somehow...
Yeah weird, but I really want them to.
They look good together naked...

That would be a little akward. Takiko and him are about to...and then POOF...
But I think he can, he has pretty good control over his transformations. They just cant have sex because shes a priestess and has to be a virgin.
