Sanaki laughed. The adults were so intense at the Canine house, worried about bringing their kids up to train intensly to get to the 3rd stage, which no one really did. It was nice to know not everyone was like that. She was enjoying being kicked out, that was for sure.

"Well, my hearing and smelling abilities. And well, some parts of the wolf kick in mentally, like working with a pack and stuff," she replied, grinning. Her tail swished and her ears were perked up. For good measure, she sflattened them against her head, then back up again. It felt good to be like this, felt more natural to her for some reason.

Ark thought that he had just became comotose. Right when he thought he was talking to Nav, he was in an alley, sitting down. ''I have really lost it now'' he said to himself. So he got up, and walked into the village again. He really needed something to eat. He decieded to go to the curry cafe. Maybe he would meet some people there.

Roy was heading home from the libarary. It was getting rather late. He was getting a little tired from all the days events and needed somethign to do on the long walk and so he took the book back out and began to read a bit more. These are the notes he took after getting home.

Notes on Chapter 8: Variation in Tactics.

Sun Tzu says that in war, the general receives his commands from the sovereign and collects his army and concentrates his forces. We've been through this before.

When in difficult country, do not encamp. In country where high roads intersect, join hands with your allies. Do not linger in dangerously isolated positions. In boxed-in situations, you must resort to strategen. In desperate positions, you must fight. There are roads which must not be followed. There are armies which must not be attacked. There are towns which must be besieged. There are positions which must not be contested. There are commands of the sovereign which must not be obeyed.

The general who thoroughly understands the advantages that accompany variation of tactics knows how to handle his troops. The general who does not understand these may be well acquainted witht he configuration of the country yet he will not be able to turn his knowledge to practical account. So, the student of war who is unversed in the art of war and of varying his plans, even though he be acquainted with the Five Advantages, will fail to make the best use of his men. Hence, in the wise leader's plans, consideratiosn of advantage and disadvantage will be blended together.

If one's expectation of advantage be tempered in this way, one may succeed in accomplishing the essential part of our schemes. If, on the other hand, in the midst of difficulties we are always ready to seize an advantage, we may extricate ourselves from misfortuen. Reduce the hostile cheifs by inflicting damage on them. Make trouble for them and keep them constantly engaged. Hold out specious allurements and make them rush to any given point.

The art of war teachs us to rely not on the likelihood of the enmy's not coming but on our own readiness to receive them. It teaches not to rely on the chance of his not attacking but rather on the fact that we have made our position unassailable. There are five dangerous faults which may affect a general: (1) Recklessness, which leads to destruction;(2) cowardice, which leads to capture; (3) a hasty temper, which can be provoked by insults; (4) a delicacy of honor which is sensitive to shame; (5) over-solicitude for his men, which exposes him to worry and trouble. These are the five besetting sins of a general, ruinous to conduct of war. When an army is overthrown and it's leader slain, the cause will surely be found among these five dangerou fualts. Let them be a subject of meditation.Hmmm...recklessness, cowardice, temper, pride, and worry...all things I need to worry about.

Roy was jsut walking up to his home when he finished that last line in the book. He began to think and meditate on his own degree of faults in these areas.

Ryoko heard Katar's voice and yelled out. "Hay Katare, come out back. I got someone I want you to meet!"

Ryoko looked to Sanaki and smiled. "This is one of my son's friends. He's staying with us for a while. He's a bit hyper so you two should get along swimmingly."

Seeing Katare come out, she pointed to Sanaki "Katare, this is my friend Sanaki. Sanaki, this is my adopted son Katare."

Ryoko smiled to Sanaki. She then noticed her gazing up to the sky. She blinked a bit then looked to hre "If you want, you can come back tommarow and train with me. Your welcome here anytime ok?" Ryoko walked over to Sanaki and pet her a bit out of habbit froms eeing the ears. She pulled her hand back and thinking it might be a sign of disrespect, "errr. sorry."

Katare had dropped his bags in an out-of-place area of the the living room, and had come to the back just like Ryoko had told him to. She had said something about.. "Somebody to want me to- Oh!" Katare quickly spotted the wolf-human in the training area. He had heard something about this bloodline before, about humans that could turn into other creatures.. What was the name again?.. Oh well. "Hey, haven't seen very many wolf-humans in Iwa! So, what's your name, hmm?" Katare got excited again at the concept of having somebody new around, and the sweat just seemed to disappear as Katare began running laps around the arena...
