Atsu smiled at the boys response. He sheathed his katanas, and then said "Do not walk on shark infested water. This is not a threat, only a warning. I'm sure you want to live through the day without being ended by one of the Go-Ryu or the Fifth Dawn. They would kill me if they knew what I know. And I come here in peace. To answer your question, lets just say, I have walked this earth more than one hundred years, and you expect me not to pick up on a fearsomely tall Stone ninja with dual katanas? Are you that naive that you do not think there are hundreds of spies from other villages giving reports to their Kages on the very food you eat, the very bed you sleep in?"
The warmth in Atsu's eyes changed to a blazing fire. "You have no idea what danger we all are in, even now in the safety of the Tsuchikage's office. I come here in peace, wishing only to better myself, and to help better some of you, and you ask me these questions to which the answer is obvious."
Atsu sighed, and his face suddenly grew tired far far FAR beyond the age he appeared to be. His eyes showed the century of wisdom he had gathered. Quietly, he said, "They say that with age comes patience. This is not a time for patience. If need be, I can tell the Kage - And ONLY the Kage - some things about the Master who threatens your very village. But I must train under Giglamesh. That is my only request."
Atsu finished with a sigh. He had meant for this to be quick, not to leave too much of an impression on the village. Too late.

Kinami held out a hand to forestall anything Roy might say. She glanced back at him, noticed he had armed himself (if a bit inadequately), and then turned her full attention onto the newcomer. She studied him for a moment, taking in his features, and then composing her response.

"I am afraid that I cannot allow you to learn Giglamesh's technique at the moment. It is nothing against you," she said, "but you must understand where I come from. I have an entire village to protect. You came in here without showing your passport, which had my suspicions very high. You did not even offer to show it until I demanded to see it."

She placed her hands at her side, then continued. "You may have the best and most innocent intentions in mind, but I do not know you, nor have I ever heard of you. I do not know anything about your situation, and, further, you know about the people who have attacked us."

She sighed, made her decision, and held fast. "I would like to question you. After I am done, or if a week passes, whichever comes first, I will contact Giglamesh and deliver your request to learn his technique. It will then be his decision on whether he wishes to teach you or not. Does this satisfy you?"

A week. A seemingly long time when looked at now, but an insignificant speck when looking from the future.
"I agree to this, but I tell you now that I may only divulge information that will not threaten the life I have managed to hold for so long. And, I request that I be allowed at least to teach my own techniques to some Shinobi here. There is no point in wasting time not knowing what could be known."
Atsu's demeanor changed back to its usual friendliness, his smile re-forming on his lips.
"So then, what exactly is going to happen? Will I be questioned immediately, or will a fool's choice be made, and I be given a chance to flee the village?"

"Well now, aren't you a pompous little p***k..." the cat spoke. She was trying to sleep but this 'boy' was starting to annoy her. Alive for over a few hundred years. She smiled. He was kind of cute in that respect.

"Boy oh boy are you ever something interesting to view. hehehehe, you seem pretty cute...least you would if your damn face wasn't so twisted. I hate people who hide their faces behind smiles and things. Think that's something the Earth Master installed in me. She wears her feelings on her sleeves you see." the cat hopped down and moved over toward Roy and began to rub against his leg, "Only a hundred years or so right? That's all? Mmmmm, you are adorable aren't you. Come back when you have a few hundred more years on you and THEN come and talk some crap to these bozos. I think the Kage has made pretty fair dealings with you. Consideirng you walked in without any proper respect, she could have had you killed right then and there and been perfectly justified."

Etna soon walked up to Atsu and smiled, "Now, be a good boy and just nod your head for me ok?"

Kinami took offense to his remark implying she was a fool. She let Etna say her part, enjoying it immensely. When the cat was finished, she stepped up.

"I don't want to start a fight, but you underestimate me if you think I don't think you'd stay. Even if I let you go, you wouldn't. You didn't travel all this way to get here and leave right away- and if you do leave, that immediately makes you suspicious and I am then free to send an ANBU squad after you."

She turned her back to him, showing what she thought of his apparent power. "So, I let you go. You now have two choices. You can stay, at which point I may question you at any time, or you can leave, and I will find you." She sat down, facing him while folding her hands.

"If you want to teach any jutsu at all, you must present them to me, tell me exactly how they work, and then I will decide if you may teach them. Otherwise, a small room will be provided in the refugee quarters. If you get bored, you can help rebuild."

She turned to Etna. "Madame feline, would you like to question him? Provided, of course, all information comes to me in the end of a week."
PostPosted: Wed Oct 10, 2007 3:13 pm

Etna looked to the boy and turned to go toward Kinami. She was liking the style of the kage...reminded her of someone. She sat in Kinamis lap and purred, "Hmmm Why bother...I doubt he knows more than me about the Masters considering I count them among my personal friends. What of you boy? Did you know that the Wind Master has a terrible phobia of eggs? What of their real names?" Of course no one would know the phobia of the Wind Master. It was a secret he'd keep with him tillhe died. Only reason Etna knew was because she was the one that instilled the phobia in him. She looked to the boy and awaited his response.

Roy, on the other hand, felt so outpowered. He wanted to protect Kinami and defend her but he knew he didn't have the power to do so. He wasn't ready to hang with the big boys. He simply was what he was. But even at that, he was still her lover. He continued to stand there between her and Atsu. He held no oppresive movement to the guy but still, he was there.

Kinami sat back, crossed her legs, and let her arms rest on the sides of the chair. It was resemblant of a picture she had seem once, long ago, of a queen on her throne. She did not respond or say anything, and instead waited for the ninja's response.

(((this is so tense, so... fun :3)))

Atsu first replied to the Kage, still smiling. He had hit exactly the nerves he wanted, played them exactly as he knew it would happen. After enough years, he had picked up how to manipulate people with fear and anger.
But he had never planned to leave. The way he planned this to happen, the Kage would let him go, he could teach some Jutsu, she would call him some random day, he would explain what he knows, which won't be any suprise with the cat, then he would be allowed to learn Giglamesh's style, and he would be off to Amegakure, the other free village.

Atsu had completely expected the cats response. He had helped the Lightning Master navigate his way through the Mountains, after all. It taking so long, the Master was not able to keep his tongue from slipping some valuable information. But it went both ways. "Cat, I know more about you than you might think. And I know more about the Lightning Master than many, other than Mistress..." Atsu left it to hang, the tension in the air getting even worse.

"If I may present to you the Jutsu I know now, that would be most efficient. Since the Go-Ryu attack, I believe you were all cut off from the Tekkenseisai Clan of Iwagakure, and their techniques, and I happen to know two of them. They are both very dangerous, very... reckless, even, but that is the Tekkenseisai way."

"And, for the record..." said Atsu, a genuinely honest smile rippling across his face, "I did mean no disrespect. After having lived secluded, only watching others, never interacting unless needed, I did not think of what would be right or important to you and others."

Etna burst into laughter at the end part of Atsu's response. "Oh dear, the classic emo, mountain hermit response. How funny. And exactly how do you know about the Lightning Master my dear? Careful of your words because by your own admittence, you might just make us think you to be a spy. After all, the Masters aren't exactly a trusting lot of the new baby ninja that exist today. Even with your age, I doubt many of the Master would consider you too much of a triffle. So what is it that you know my dear boy. This should be good."
PostPosted: Thu Oct 11, 2007 1:34 pm

Atsu first lurched forward in an unexpected laugh, but caught himself, too late. "Classic" emo-mountain-hermit response? The cat must be incredibly old for something like THAT to be "Classic." But it was true...

The second response Atsu made was just a look, straight at the young ninja standing near the Kage. He looked into the boy's eyes, saw the helplessness in them. He hated when shinobi felt helpless. Nobody was helpless, not even Atsu against the Kage, nor the boy against... Hell, against every other ninja in the room.

Atsu then glanced at the Kage, and said, "The young one. With only the best intentions, I do not think it would be wise to keep him in here to know what I know about Lia-" Atsu caught himself talking too much. He was suddenly slipping up, something he didn't often do. Not only had he called him "the young one," which, no doubt the cat would assume that he thinks of himself as equal to the Masters, but he almost said the Lightning Master's mortal name, the name he had when he was weak, the name not even the cat knew. The name not even Mistress knew. What the cat didn't know was to be held as leverage, not to be slipped up. What the cat didn't know was that the Lightning Master and Atsu were closer than she would have liked.

(((i know it probably seems like I'm abusing relations between my own characters, but I'm in the process of making the lightning master and his background, and i had fully intended to have atsu and the lightning master close, well before the deeper parts of this scene.)))

[[Thats fine. Only thinkg I'm saying is that you have to remember that Etna was the cat of the Earth Master back before they were sealed. So she knows a good deal about them. Granted, she doesn't know everything about them sin ce she wasn't the Lightning Masters cat but she probably knows a good deal as well.]]

Etna glared at him. That name...she had heard it in passing but had never known who's it was. With his familiiarity that he was now claiming...Etna kept uiet and removed her glance from the man. Etna never did that unless she was plotting something. Roy knew this and wondered what it was.

Looking back to him, Roy soon crossed his arms in front of him. He wasn't liking this one bit. The guy had done something or said something that got Etna...this wasn't good. He was pulling at straws but even at that, using his intuition, he spoke up, "You said a name...what was it again? I didn't catch it. And don't mind me, I'm just a student in the academy. I did some bad deeds so they put me in the care of our phycotic Kage, that's all."
PostPosted: Thu Oct 11, 2007 3:22 pm

Atsu feigned confusion. "Young one? Is that it? I don't recall saying any particular name..." Atsu distorted his face for it to look like he was trying to remember, although he knew what the kid was referring to. His slip up. Liamat was the Lightning Master's real name, but everyone knew him by Denkou. Even Atsu called him Denkou, unless in private. And he hadn't seen the boy in months... No, not the boy. He wasn't really a child, it was just a form he had taken.

To be 12, Roy was normally assumed to be very...well...stupid. The look on the mans face was completly defiant of how he had held himself thus far. If he was truely confused, his manorism dictated himself to be more likcly ot hold his head in his hand or close his eyes in thought. His current face belyed that emotion. Roy, however, simply kept quiet. He hated when people lied to him just because he was a boy. If he had screwed up or was screwing with them, he wished Atsu would only come out and admit it.

Kinami stood and walked over to the middle of the room, smiling slowly. "No jutsu, thank you. We in Iwagakure can get along just as well by ourselves, thank you. We haven't survived as long as we have by crawling to the nearest help and begging for something to learn to aid our plight, no matter how close to extinction we may be at the time."

Turning to Roy, she smiled. "Psychotic, eh? I'll remember that one." She turned to Etna, who wasn't looking at anyone in particular ((I think)). "Would you please follow this gentleman around? See what you can get from him. If he begins to teach some jutsu, or if he tries to run, feel free to stop him by any means necessary."

"And you," she said, turning to the foreign shinobi. She waved her finger at him as if he were a child. "No playing with the big boys, or you just might get hurt. Take a break. Relax. I absolutely forbid you to teach or learn anything until you've had a week to kick back and loosen up. After that, perhaps I can hold your hand for a while and introduce you to my Katana master. We'll see how your behavior plays out."

After her lecture, she turned around, returned to her desk, and proceeded to ignore any and all further comments. "Good day." Clearly, it was a dismissal for Etna and the suspicious ninja.

Atsu had heard the phrase more than enough times to know that he was being told to leave. He would have the cat on his tail, but he really didn't mind, though a full week without any Jutsus would be... tedious. But she didn't say he couldn't still train normally, though she said "no learning." A foolish remark, he really hadn't underestimated her at all. Just the fact that she said "no learning" had taught him something. Atsu turned his back to leave, stopping at the door for a moment.

"Well, Etna, you coming?" He didn't wait for a response, or for the cat to follow him, he just left.
