((Because while singing a song of seduction works to absolute prefection in Erik's case, having Raoul sing AIAOY is implausible if not completely awkward and ridiculous. XD))

Standing there on the roof as the swirling snow continued to float carelessly and blithely around them, the vicomte turned to face Christine fully. The silence of the evening was descending upon them like the inclement, but gentle weather; the chaos and melee of voices so far down below on the streets seeming to dissipate entirely to leave he and Christine in complete solitude in their flight from the stage.

Finally, for once they were alone and Raoul could speak freely without fear of reprisal or reprimand from seemingly omnipresent 'angel' or protective matron. As he met her eyes, he could feel the warm love he had fostered for her all this time and it nearly brought tears to his eyes. Yet, as he prepared himself to speak, he felt himself also preparing for rejection. He could not be certain if Christine requited his love, yet... yet, even if she considered him only as a mere friend, he felt it his duty to say this.

"Christine, please... let us speak no more of this darkness," he said softly to her, taking her hands in his, even though his own trembled. "Forget this wide-eyed fears for..." --here he looked somewhat shy, but he continued on with a somewhat bashful smile -- "I'm here, and nothing will harm you as long as I am here with you. I promise you this."

Pausing for a moment, he took this time to drink in her exquisite beauty, hoping that he was not making a fool of himself -- hoping that in professing his deepest love for her, she would not return him indifference.

"I offer you freedom from this world of darkness -- I can take you away to where daylight will dry your tears. I will always be here, if you will let me, always beside you -- I will guard you from the horrors of this world..."

His words of adoration trailed off into uncertainty, wondering if perhaps he had said too much.

((I'm sorry if it's an awkward moment, but Raoul is not the sort of man to burst out spontaneously into song... Though, if you want, the rest of the song can be converted... Of course you can have singing in WC...))

((The thing is, I don't have any problems at all with Erik singing his reprise. The man lives in music, he writes music; he is music - so, if he feels like composing a bit, then that's perfectly in character. Erik in the musical has very few speaking lines at all, and that's the way he is. Whatever, I can fix the words to lyrics from now on if it bothers that many of you.))
