Nightfire_Assasin One time, at band camp, we were sitting around the fire...., dont worry, I'm not even gonna start that. I'm new here and I'm a trombone player. (I hate French Horns!!!!! domokun ) I've played the trombone for 3 years. I play in a really good band. We've one ALOT of band competetions. (my band director is so old that one of his students he taught is in a retirement home and he's not!!!) That's actually scary... Oo;;

Osthato_Chetowa Absolutely, we play really loud, the enemies cover their ears, and then we attack with... umm... cleaning rods. Everyone needs to join the army. I have cookies. I'll Join! ^^ Haha, try..dripping spit on a trumpet's head during football season!

Why are we and the baritones and trombones and anyone I forgot always called LOW BRASS? Our instruments have a name! Clarinets are called Clarinets Flutes are flutes and so on. We are just Low Brass. Anyone up for the challenge? How can we fix this? If were just low brass than there should be 2 other sections. Low brass, High winds, and Medium winds/Brass! consistantsy
Low Brass/winds : Tubas, Baritones, Trombones, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, Bass clarinets, Contra Bass clarinets. High winds: Piccolos,Clarinets, flutes, oboes, Soprano sax, Medium winds/Brass: Saxaphone, French horn, Trumpets, Alto clarinets, contra Alto clarinets.
Agree? or Dissagree?

Started with the euphonium in 7th grade, switched to trombone half way through 8th in private lessons while still playing euphonium in band. In 9th I was just a trombone player. Now in 10th grade I'm currently 2nd chair beating people who have played longer.

Well, as my name may suggest, i currently play saxophone, but i may be starting Eb tuba. Anyone have any suggestions, they would surely be of great help. Does anyone else play Eb tuba? Is it still a well known tuba, because my band director said he had no use for it?

Its ok...its better for hitting some of the lower notes but if I were you I would just stick with a BBb Tuba...no reason to really switch over to and Eb tuba

I'm a proud little trombone and have been since sixth grade. In fourth grade (Catholic school), I played clarinet. Obviously I was not meant for woodwinds. Anyway, my band is entirely Freshman and Sophmore's, since we just opened this year, and we have 9 tombones, 4 baritones, and 3 tubas. We also have around 20 trumpets, but no one cares about them do they. Hmm...band has been great to me, but I miss marching season crying . Lookit our smallness. I'm way in the back, fourth trombone from the left, right under the colorguard row, diagonal to the sousaphone.

haha
in my exprience low brass is by far the most chill section in our HS band. We're always sitting there cracking up.... we're so unprofessional. We get the job done none the less.
