Aoibheann hopped out of one of the carriers that were bringing late arrivals to Beacon. A lot had walked to Vale, come in groups in regular transportation. Not her though. She'd hitched a ride from her home town along with a lumber shipment. Fortunately, they had some really high quality lumber in their area, so, they did make occasional shipments straight to the capital. Hell, she probably still smelled of earth and pine. As she stepped off, she began looking around and adjusting her glasses. She honestly hated wearing them. They looked so dorky, and contacts? While they were worth not having the frames, they always felt off to her. But, she couldn't see worth s**t without them, so, she had to just deal with glasses. At least they were transition lenses? She must have been standing still a little longer than she realized as others started pushing past her. She stumbled forward a bit and her glasses fell. Not the first time and she knelt down, using her body to cover the area they were likely in so no one would step on them."Oi! Ya Gowl! Watch where you're goin! Ahh...shite...where are they?"
She felt around the area beneath her, grateful she hadn't heard something crunch or snap yet, meaning they were likely under her. She was also grateful her duffle had been behind her. She just had to choose today to wear a skirt. But, the bag did an excellent job of preventing any peeks. She finally found her glasses and put them back on, the world coming back into focus. She stood back up just to be jostled again. She grabbed the handle of her rolling suitcase and tugged on the strap to her duffle bag, pulling both out of the massive throng. She was so not used to crowds, nor the complete disregard of another person just existing in the same place. Big Cities were so different from the little mountain village and it would definitely take some getting used to. Finding a quiet place, she pulled out her scroll and started looking over the information she'd been sent with her acceptance.
Running from the roof, the sniper would do a flip. Mid-fall she'd flick her wrist sending a grappling hook out, it would catch slowing her fall but not enough for a safe landing. Turning to a puff smoke right before Amélie would reform. "Damn... it is too slow." Taking the launcher off her wrist she'd move to a seat position, looking her climbing tool over. Looking she'd spot an unfamiliar face, it wasn’t a student or teacher she'd ever seen. Though the uniform made it very clear the girl was a student. Getting up from the ground she’d make her way over, putting on a smile. "Ello, I am Miss Lacroix. I am the Weapons teacher here at Beacon." Extending a hand out to her, Amélie's gaze and smile never changed. "And you are?"
Aoibheann had spent a few minutes skimming the information when the smudge in the bottom of her left lens really started to irritate her, so, she pocketed her scroll and pulled out her cloth for her glasses and started wiping them off. Suddenly, the sound of reeling and someone speaking right next to her erupted, startling her. She managed to keep hold of her glasses though."Fecking Shite! Where'd ya come from?!" When the message that the woman before her was a teacher finally processed, Aoibheann's face flushed a bit."I-I'm sorry. I'm a little on edge. I'm bloody knackered an' I ain't been in a city before. Bit of a culchie I am. Name's Ee-Van Dunn. I just got here...err...Prolly should say, might not recognize the name lookin for it. Ma said it ain't spelled the normal way. A, o, i,. b. h. e. a. n. n. Anyway..sorry for swearin like that. Like I said, I ain't exactly used ta all this and you caught me off gaurd, I wasn't wearing my glass and my eyesight is totally banjaxed without them or my contacts. So...umm...if you're not too busy Ma'am? Could you help me out? I...don't really know what I should be doing or where to go. Informations all over the bloody place and it's kinda hard to piece together what I need."
Amélie was, or so she thought, a skilled linguist. But this girls vernacular was definitely different. "I came from ze roof. Was trying a gadget." Holding out her grappler she'd pull it back in order to focus on the girl. Nodding ever so slightly as she understood the girls blight. "I see. The instructions are often... jumbled." Taking a few steps Amélie would move to the girls side. "Show me what you got." She was a little curious to see what the students, she’d never seen the instructions students had gotten before. "Let's see if together we can cipher this together."
Aoibheann was a bit relieved that the woman didn't make a big deal about her swearing, eying the gadget as it was shown and an explanation offered to her question. The teacher walked over to her and Aoibheann pulled her scroll back out and opening the message."So, I get we're bein taught to fight Grimm and Criminals, so, we got extra courses and all, grand. But, some o' them I ain't got a clue bout, like this 'Cybernetics'. Sounds right techie and all, but, we ain't got much fancy stuff back in my village. An there was this statement here bout special roomin for teamless and new students? I got a little trainin in by an old man who used to be a Huntsman. He went an passe couple months back, but, he's the one who went and suggested I come to Beacon. He said we get put on teams of four and a team shares a room, even if the rest of my team wound up bein blokes? An I can't make sense of this map. Half of it seems totally arseways in the layout." She rubbed the back of her head a bit."I ain't all that bothered bout the coed thing if it's true mind. I got four brothers and we had to share a room, but, I guess I'm just wondering if it is true? As for the rest, guess I'm just saying I'd like to know what to expect and am a bit turned round bout where everything is."
Amélie chuckled a little. "Some of students here have lost limbs. The Oxton family has helped provide replacement limbs. Something about their daughter going here and wanting to help, I just think it’s cover up something again." She'd give a small shrug. She didn’t care what that family did, her priority is students and making sure they can handle their weapons. "Coed is very true. It is to help promote team synergy and bonds. You should have been, or will be, assigned to a team. Or if you find other students you could form your own team. Sadly we have lost a few students, either by Grimm or because of hate crimes."
Aoibheann cocked her head as the woman began answering her questions. The explanation on cybernetics confused her somewhat though."Stall the ball a moment...so...cybernetics is like...prosthetics? An' I ain't got a clue bout a family by that name. My village is high up in the mountains nearer the old borders. I ain't that familiar with people of import." When the topic of teams came up, she remembered seeing something about it before, though, her mind was a bit more focused on the whole idea of how she'd be dealing with sharing a room potentially with boys who she didn't know. She could manage, no question, but, it'd really suck not having any privacy as a girl. The topic got somewhat weighted by the inclusion of students dying or leaving due to injury or just hatred."Right...Pa said City folks don't treat the Faunus the same here...I guess when you're not working for a living from age five on, you got more time to waste and burn. Everyone back home does their share or our village would die. So, there's no need to hate someone cuz they look different. Just causes more issues. And, that leaves the map...what are the places I need to know about as a student? And...where the bloody hell are they?"
A small nod came from Amélie. "I believe there is more to it then prosthetics. I think people design them as well as a few weapons. One student has a lovely cybernetic claw he designed. Snow Leopard Faunus, skilled duelist." She smiled as thought of that student. Looking back to the student before she regained her focus. "It was bandits who had a strong dislike. But you are right, not everyone is so open to Faunus. I know many Faunus I’d trust my life with, even a few students." Looking at the map, she’d make a few taps. Highlighted points of interest would appear. "There we go."
Aoibheann listened as the woman continued with the explanation. It still didn't really explain much other than it wasn't limited to prosthetics. Still, it wasn't the woman's expertise by her own admission, so, Aoibheann decided to drop the topic for now. If she was assigned the class, then the instructor for the class would be the expert on the topic and would likely hold an introductory course...unless...Now that she thought of it, the term had already began. So...probably not. Still, either the study material would explain it and if she needed more, she could ask the appropriate instructor later. When the woman brought up the bandits, Aoibheann cocked her head again."I don't think it's that cut an dry. Others had to have the same feelings to begin with tho have it fire off like that. Just, probably not strong enough to act on untill tensions rose and more people started waggin their chins bout it. Sure look, but, unfortunate all the same. Ma and Pa Originally came from here. I was born a wee bit after the village started growin. Accordin to them...before it all went arseways with the Grimm, folks were startin to get on better with Faunus. Far as I'm concerned, they're humans, same as me, just with some extra bits attached." She watched as the woman looked over her map and pointed out the student facilities and classrooms before bring up one question that hadn't been answered yet."Alright, so, what's this bout 'special accomodations' for new students and teamless student? Cuz, at the moment, I think I fall in that group."
The girl had some wisdom beyond her years. Amélie would take a mental of that. "You are right, hatred doesn’t start over night. It’s a single event with several follow up events." Amélie knew this all too well. Very few knew what hatred plagued her past, the bodies that she strung up in the wake of her vengeance. "Hatred is a breeding ground for more hate." When asked about accommodations Amélie had to think, she didn’t fully know. "Well you'll either team up with staff or join a team when they're short a member. Possibly a fifth member as well. It'll depend on the situations."
Aoibheann listened as she replied, noticing the little break before she mentioned the formation of teams again."I mean, it sounds like there's a specific place they put new students and teamless ones to sleep? Like I said, I'm bloody knackered. I could go for a nap, but, I'm probably manky as hell too, so, I'm gonna want to shower...but...I don't want to be breakin any rules and I don't got a room assignment either." The flight to Vale hadn't been particularly comfortable. He roptions had been limited to squeezing into a position among a pile of unstripped lumber or try to settle into an old worn metal seat. At least it had been cheap. Of course, it was then her stomach growled loudly and she realized just how long it'd been since she'd had a chance to use the restroom. Yeah...she needed a good number of things right now.
When the realization of what the girl meant Amélie she gave herself a small smack. "Ah sorry sorry, didn’t think you meant sleeping arrangements. If you have friends here you can be with them, if not then we have arrangements in the gym." Amélie would point out, even highlight, the gym on the scroll. "Any other questions? Outside of sleeping." Moving around she'd be back to her standing position. "If you’re having issues with other students, let me know. Some fear me, but it’s mostly a weapon thing."
Aoibheann smirked a bit when the teacher apologized and answered her question before getting up. She followe suit, removing her glasses and wiping them again before putting them on once more."Nah, it ain't no bother. A whole heap of people can't tell what I'm saying around here. Like this bloke I asked where the nearest Jacks was. Only just figured out no one says it around here. I just don't like askin for the toilet. Feels way too open about myself doin that."
She stretched and grabbed her things as the teacher encouraged her to come get her if she had trouble with other student."Heh, I ain't heard that in donkey's years. Used ta be told it when I was little cuz the grown ups around thought I'd get hurt playing with the boys. Then they started tellin me cuz they got tired of patchin them boys up. I ain't gonna start a fight, promise, but, I can handle myself.."She pulled up her map again and oriented herself. She needed to ge tto the gym. She had a locker assignment so, she could put her stuff away. Plus, that meant a bathroom and a shower. She'd probably see about getting some food after that and then a nap..
Looking down at the map she made a quick nod to her explanation of the gym and the cafeteria. "Hmm good point, since we are teamless I would like to know where we get to live for the time being, I want to check out the gym before we go to the Cafeteria, by the way how is the food here?" Rain asked Rena as she looked to Cerulean and Aeralin asking. "Should we check out the gym?" Rain asked as she would look around and look back at the map to see which direction was going to be at. It was quite odd for most of the teachers to be gone where there was an academy to be ran, what happened with the new students when there were no students. Very odd way to run this academy no less. Hearing what Cerulean said she gave a nod and said. "Well before we go roaming freely lets go see where we will be staying and where the cafeteria is, maybe we can get something to eat while we're at it." Rain said as she looked to Rena with a small smile. "Please lead us to the gym."
Kirien sniffled as she was still trying her best to not cry before she was suddenly patted by the shoulder, almost being knocked over as she looked at him. "A-Alright.... i-if you say so." She commented while the machine and her moved to pick up the luggage she had before she sniffled and looked at Nikolas. "Thanks Mr. Chernyy..... alot of people have mixed feelings on an automaton in battle but I'm hoping it'll prove to be useful." She commented before he explained the difficulty. "Oh! Um.... well I'm also new here but I made sure to download the school's public locations map so I an navigate my way without getting lost. It's on my scroll so I can keep myself from getting lost. If he was powered down I'd show you. B-But I should get going, I need to make sure my lab is set up in my new team's quarters." She told him before bowing her head and the machine began to move off. "I'll see you around Mr. Chernyy!!!"
