  The Demon of Life Partner: TexasI wish you could see
The bridge that leads from you to me
But every time you try to cross
You always manage to get lost
Without a second glance you left me stranded
I climbed I slipped I fell but at least I tried
If you turn your back, I'll burn that bridge ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Mirai stood in the kitchen, quietly cutting up some herbs she had just bought. One of the other things, Mirai was usually good at was medicinal stuff. She had learned a bit from her mother and always tried to keep her memory fresh on making medicines that could be useful. Activities like this seemed to be her output for her thoughts as well. Like almost everyone else, she was still thinking over and waiting for the day where they would have to prepare to fight Atlas. Was she ready for it? She wasn't exactly sure. Mirai's brow furrowed for a split second before she put down the knife she had and grabbed the jar next to her. She scooped the herbs she had been finely cutting into the jar and sealed it shut before putting it up on a shelf nearby.

Some men just want to see the world burn... Texas was laying back on the couch playing a hand-held videogame, the sounds of explosions and battle music audible. His Machinist uniform and hat was hung up on a nearby coat rack. "How's it comin?" he asked with a grin, sitting up slightly to see over his game. He could smell the herbs she was cutting and knew the scent well enough by now to tell that they were medicinal. And I just want to show them.

Mirai went back to cutting the next set of herbs before hearing Texas speak. She glanced up at him then "Hm? Oh! Alright," she replied with a small smile before going back to cutting. "With some of these, I could make some really good ointments and remedies for colds and such," she said. Behind her, an empty jar floated from one of the cabinets and landed near her. "What level are you on?" she asked, referring to the game he was playing.

Some men just want to see the world burn... Texas sat up from the couch slightly. "Yeah, that stuff comes in really handy," he replied. He looked back down at his game when Mirai asked about it. "Uhg, 16 still. I keep running out of ammo for the grenade launcher before I can kill the boss. I thought the guy before him was the boss and used most of my ammo on him. That's what I get for being too impatient." He set the game aside and stood up, walking over to Mirai and putting his arms around her from behind. Then he watched as one of the jars levitated over to the counter. "That'll never stop being cool to watch," he told her with a grin. And I just want to show them.

Mirai snickered "Well I am sure eventually you will beat the boss. Maybe," she replied as she continued focusing on cutting. A smile appeared on her face as Texas wrapping his arms around her. She opened the jar then and began putting the finely chopped herbs into it. She laughed at his comment "Well that's good, because I will most likely be using that ability a ton. It's pretty convenient," Mirai explained as she closed the lid and put it up on the shelf with the other herbs. At the same time, the knife and cutting board she had floated over to the sink which turned on. As usual, Mirai was still in a lot brighter mood. After the first Machinist mission, Mirai hadn't been looking or doing so good with the stress from that event as well as her soul being terribly unstable and literally tearing itself up. After she had found a way to fix her soul during her time in the future and after their mission with the Machinists a second time around, Mirai's appearance and attitude began greatly improving.

Some men just want to see the world burn... Texas grinned and nodded. "I will! No doubt about it." He watched as she continued working. "Mirai....I'm glad to see you like this. You seem a lot happier now," he noted. Their developing telekinetic connection was causing her positivism to influence him a little too. Things just seemed brighter now. Or perhaps that was just him being happy for her. He leaned down and kissed her on top of the head. "I guess everything that's happened ended up for the better." He glanced over at his Machinist uniform, a small frown forming on his face for a brief second before vanishing again. "Not that it's all over yet..." And I just want to show them.

Hearing Texas, Mirai smiled slightly and leaned back against him in response. As he seemed worried for a moment about the issues ahead, Mirai turned her head and kissed him on the cheek "Don't worry, we will be able to take care of the other issues that lie ahead," she told him though this statement seemed to be directed towards herself as well since she had been thinking over some of the issues that were coming up.

"Are you feeling better about your time abilities?" He asked. "And is that time lady or whatever giving you trouble?" And I just want to show them.

"The time abilities are coming along alright... I can still only stop time for very short periods... and if I over do it, it takes a lot out of me. And Baiva and I are doing alright. She's a lot of help and we are getting along," Mirai told Texas. Her gaze went to his uniform before tilting her head up to look at him "How are things going with the Machinists?" she asked.

Some men just want to see the world burn... Texas gave a sigh as Mirai asked him about The Machinists. "Well, the Chevaliers are as stubborn as you told me they were in the future," he told her. "But...what happened to Captain Cross...." Texas shook his head. "And then SC dropped the news on us...that turned everything on its head. I can't help thinking that if only we'd known sooner we wouldn't have made the same mistakes. I guess....you never really know who you can trust..." he paused and shook his head. "Sorry," he replied. "Didn't mean to get all depressing. Let's just say it's a work in progress." He reached down and stroked her hair. "Anyway, let me worry about working with them. I want you to focus on your time stuff. I can tell things are getting easier for you. You have no idea how happy I am to see you smile like that again." And I just want to show them.

Mirai listened to Texas quietly before placing her hands over his "Okay... please tell me though if anything is up. We are still a team after all," she told him before smiling again at his last comment. She leaned against Texas slightly then "You've helped a lot with that," she replied.

sorbet shark Well pffft, I'm not gonna spoil anything! I do want to finish that mission, but I feel like everyone's probably already forgotten what's happened up to this point... Some men just want to see the world burn... Texas threaded his fingers through hers. "Of course I will," Texas promised with a nod. He smiled as she leaned against him. "Then just consider it returning the favor...for what you do for me everyday," he told her as he kissed her on top of the head. And I just want to show them.

Mirai's smile grew slightly as Texas kissed her on her head. She squeezed his hand gently with hers "Really? What do I do for you?" she asked with a smile and she tilted her head up to look up at Texas again.

sorbet shark I hope so! Though of course that's a talent you pretty much have to learn on Gaia. Some men just want to see the world burn... Texas kept her against him. "Well, let's see....whenever I see you smile, whatever I went through to get it was worth it. And whenever I hold you, I know that no matter what happens we'll make it through together. When everything seems dark and we're apart I just remember you're rooting for me and it gives me the strength to go on. And when we hold each other it reminds me of everything I'm fighting for." And I just want to show them.

Mirai continued to smile up at Texas as he spoke before burying her face in his chest "You are sweet," she replied. As they were talking, the dishes that were in the sink had washed themselves and floated back to where Mirai had grabbed them. Mirai closed her eyes slightly as she listened to Texas' breathing. Despite the hardships that they had gone through recently, they were still able to stay together like this. "I love you," she said, her voice muffled slightly since her face was still buried slightly into his chest.
