	She was reluctant to let go of his hand, though it had not been feasible to hold it the entire time. But she clung to him as best she could. So close to home, so close to being able to take a deep breath and rest again. She could cry later. She was squeezing Jake's hand as the portal opened. The way home, they just had to get through it- Darkness. [A.V.]

	Rin offered Otto and his cousin a weak smile in passing. Nothing was ever going to be perfect, it helped to not focus so much on the inevitable bad. This is what kept her alive, what kept her going. She finally took the uniform and gun and dressed herself accordingly. Just in case. There was no way to know exactly what actually awaited them on the other side and chances would not be made if she could help it. She nodded to him too with a more grateful smile, ""thanks." She followed the others as the portal finally emerged. It was a hope she grasped onto tightly; that everything would work out. She leapt at the opening but was instantly hit with something less desirable. She staggered about with a yelp of confusion and down she went. Swirls of grass and dirt were all she could make out. 	The portal went up, and Peyton caught glimpses of the training field through the glow. Grass and dirt and the shadow a building in the background, it was home. They were going home. When the world began to tilt, when everything began to blur, she didn't fight it. It never occurred to her that she wasn't simply blacking out, finally, thankfully.

	There was no one to wait for. As soon as the portal formed, he jumped. It felt odd. Blurs of green -- grass? -- something that looked like the training fields, but there wasn't time to observe before he dropped to his knees and passed out.

	It was hard to tell what to believe anymore, as everything that had happened, he only prayed it was all just a dream. Or nightmare. Death was never able to bear, and as he reached the portal, wishing nothing more than to just go home, he let go of Sherry's hand. And then... Everything went dark. GrnGriff
