Asher smiled appreciatively. "Well, I guess it'd be best if I get the surgery tomorrow, then." he said, taking a glance at Leo. It looks like he isn't going to be missing any holidays with his brother. "By the way, what's the hospital bill going to look like?" Yeah, he was still very concerned about that. He didn't remember the last time he checked his savings, so he didn't know if he would have enough. Maybe he should have studied those state billing laws more closely when he had the time and the chance.

The doctor shrugged. "I'm not gonna lie to you, it's not going to be cheap. But the hospital does have payment plans and if you're unable to cover the bill you can request for a deferment until you can pay it." The doctor started sifting through the papers in the chart and noticed something. "Do you have health insurance Asher?" he asked curiously, not having seen any papers that listed his primary health insurance.

"Nah, I haven't been able to afford any for myself," Asher admitted with a shake of the head. What little health insurance savings he did have usually went into paying for Leo's health insurance. He was relieved there were ways to deal with the hospital bill on low income, though. "Is that going to be a problem?"

The doctor smiled but shook his head. "No it won't be a problem." he said softly but he of course caught onto the young man's expression and tone. "Well I'll schedule you for tomorrow at one then." The doctor stood up and was just about to leave but Asher's expression was nagging at him for an explanation. "If you don't mind my asking...what is your financial situation? I know you two found that young woman, so I already know why you're in the hospital....but why are you unable to afford health insurance?" he asked curiously, knowing he was being nosy but if he didn't get an explanation it wouldn't stop bugging him.

The doctor seems a bit too curious, but Asher didn't pay much mind to it. "Let's just say we're a fair distance from the line between housed and homeless," he said, figuring that would be a good enough answer. Yes, he and Leo were poor, but not overly poor. They could afford some luxuries such as TV and the occasional fancy food, but that was the extent of it. All other money had to be put into bus fare, rent, Leo's health insurance, and other essentials.

The doctor listened and could sympathize. He was in the same situation when he was younger and just trying to get by. "I'll do you a favor and take care of the hospital bill for you. Consider it a thank you from the hospital for saving that young woman. I'm more concerned with making sure you're home for the holidays." he said simply, giving the young man a small smile before heading out. Leo was just as surprised as his brother to hear the doctor would cover everything. They must have been awful lucky for him to help them. "Well that was nice of him." he said softly, thinking only a very kind and generous person would do such a thing for another and wondering what they did to deserve such generosity.

Asher just couldn't believe his ears. The doctor was simply too generous, even if his taking care of the bill was a reward for saving the woman's life. The whole thing even seemed a bit cliche. Wasn't it only in movies and stories that something like this every happened? "Well, Leo, I guess I won't be missing anything, after all," was all he could manage to say. His speech was mostly locked from shock, gratitude, and relief.

Leo was so happy they were getting some help, even if it did come at a price. "I'm so glad. I'll let you make the turkey but I get to cook all of your favorites! Even if you have to help me make the food, I still want to do it." he offered, bringing his tray back to the bed so he could finish eating, but he was so excited that he practically inhaled the food. "I can't wait until Thanksgiving!" He said excitedly.

Finally, things were lighting up. "Maybe we can invite the neighbors and have a proper Thanksgiving feast," Asher suggested, once again relaxing in his bed and formulating plants for Thanksgiving day. He had a feeling the kitchen would be full of chaos, mostly from himself scrambling to keep his brother from harm. They surely wouldn't want another boiled hand incident. "Slow down, Leo, or you'll choke."

Leo smiled and drank his milk. "Sorry, I guess I'm just so excited." he said softly. "Now that you mention it, where are the neighbors?" He hadn't seen them for nearly an hour now and was beginning to get worried about everyone, he was sure they were okay considering Sam and the twins were together but they all seemed so sad this morning. "I know we haven't been friends with them for long but, do you happen to have Sam's number in your phone?"

"No, we never exchanged numbers," Asher replied with a shrug. "I'm sure they're fine. I bet everything will go back to normal when they return to take you back to the apartments." He took turned on the television and went through the channels to see if there was anything interesting to watch. The news seems to have moved on, though only temporarily, so the brothers probably wouldn't have to worry about any more reporters any time soon.

"I don't know Ash....something was really wrong." he said softly, but then again what could Leo do at the moment, he couldn't drive and find them or go home early or anything. At that thought Leo didn't feel so bad in switching his attention to something else. "Have you been bombarded with reporters here? Last night one news station came to the apartment and tried to get a statement from me....Sasha slammed the door on them though." the last bit made him smile, she was so much stronger than he was. It almost made him envious of her. If Leo was as strong as her he would be able to handle so much more.

"Reporters? Well, one of them snuck in and practically shoved a microphone in my face, but a security guard managed to get him out," Asher answered, trying to recall whatever had happened while Leo was back home. "There were others, but I pretended to be asleep and they mostly left me alone. I guess it's good that this is a hospital, so they're not allowed to bother patients."

"Hm, your lucky. They seem to be sticking a camera in my face every chance they get. I swear Ash, if they do it again I'm gonna make the reporter eat the camera." he said softly, placing his tray on Ash's nightstand. "Why are they doing this? They should be trying to get statements from that stupid kidnapper and make his life hell....he deserves it." Leo grumbled softly.

Asher chuckled. "I'm not even sure if he's awake, yet," he said. "The people might be interested in the good side of the story, first. It's just how they are, even if it is annoying as hell." He just hoped the reporters would leave them alone until at least the trial. Was there even a need for a trial? The evidence was clear, but it seems the kidnapper will likely ask for a lawyer and a trial was going to be inevitable.
