Aryn had found his way into the abandoned temple, admiring the soft glow emitting from within when the glow of a fragment caught his eye. Reacting before he thought, he snatched it out of the air, only to blink in surprise when a few words from an unfamiliar voice echoed out from it.

He had fallen into somebody, one of the others with a blue core like his own. Instinctively he grabbed for the other, more to attempt to steady himself then anything, though all it really did was ensure they both fell together, and he himself very hard on the ground, his grip loosened and falling away in the tumble.
He faced the other there, lying on the ground, temporarily stunned. He opened his mouth as though to speak, but the words to use in this situation eluded him, and his mouth clamped shut. It was weird. Because his thoughts on what he should say were so conflicted, he opted not to say anything at all just yet. Instead he simply pushed himself up to his knees, then hesitantly, and after some thought, held out a shadowed hand.
It felt right, though he didn't know why.
Somewhere in all of this mess, a crystal hovered near and he was able to grab it with his free hand. These were still very important, after all!
The word that were whispered this time was singular, a name, but one he barely heard and quickly forgot.

The shadow patted the other shadow's hand tentatively. No flash of inspiration or echoes of voices... must not have to catch this one. Either that or he just wasn't doing it right. He took the hand, and then got to his feet.
He stared at the other shadow, feeling it's presence and then... it caught one of those little crystal things.
That was when the little shadow realized he had to find more himself! He whirled around, and spying another fragment having drifted into a crack in the old cobblestones, he grabbed it triumphantly. He showed it to the other shadow, they would both become more of what they were!

Palem didn't think anything else of the shadow boy and his comments, and just kept on her task of collecting the remaining fragments she needed. It was easier that way, and a little less frustrating.
The female shadow found herself in the midst of one, having to chase it down a little ways before catching it. She visibly braced herself as her hands wrapped around it for whatever sound came after. "Anything for a pretty face...and some fine legs."
That.. one was weird. Okay, moving on.

He felt what might have been best described as puzzlement when the other shadowy form patted his outstretched hand, as though experimentally or unsure of what to do. He frowned, or at least, he got the impression that he was frowning, but the look was quickly gone when the other shadow took his hand and got to his feet. That was good, right?
He quickly scrambled to his own feet as well, curious about the other shadow and perhaps feeling a bit as though it might be best to keep an eye on him, lest he accidentally stumble into him once more. He might have grinned at the other when he retrieved a crystal of his own, but it was too hard to tell, to hard to know when so much was still shrouded in shadows and unable to be truly seen.
Turning away only slightly, he found that if he concentrated he could still sense the others core and know where he stood. This would hopefully prove useful, as he sought out another of the hovering orbs of light to take for himself, all to give to the goddess in time.
One flashed in the corner of his sight, and he turned, jumping towards it because for whatever reason, jumping seemed a more natural course of action. Hands clapped together, stealing the light out of the air.
....to school. He might find his strengths... Another voice, this time easier to understand, combined with another flash of warmth that lingered even as the short memory of words faded. He landed, this time more steadily on his feet then before, and turned, holding his own crystal to the other as well.
He was beginning to feel excitement. Soon they would have a more true form!

The little one's whole formless body wanted to quiver with that feeling, an emotion even, stirred up inside by their mutual success. He wandered along beside the other shadow, noting that they were of similar size. And when the other jumped, his head-shape may have tilted.
He jumped experimentally. It hadn't occurred to him to jump, no more than it had occurred to him to run. This was good, his mobility was improving the more he experienced, the more he interacted. He saw another little fragment drift by, making it's way over a vine-covered stone wall. But where it would have been lost to him earlier, the little shadow now jumped onto the vines.
With some scrambling and some more effort, he fell back down to the ground, landing in a heap on the stone. But he had that errant fragment held tight in one hand. He quivered happily all over again.

"Not bad, Maple." Was what she heard when she caught her fifth shard of glowing light. It was... different sounding than the others which had seemed so demeaning or undermining, coy as the last. But this one seemed earnest and happy like the owner was having a good time.
Whoever this Maple was, Palem hoped the words helped her. If they were memories, hopefully they did. The shadow smiled and pulled the last fragment close before turning to go give them as offerings.

It was broken and yet serene and peaceful. Ginj was not sure what to make of it. The little wayfinding crystals that showed the path were entrancing. The careful and calming steps through the water that ran rivulets down the path. It was as if a veil had parted and the wayfinders had scattered, drifting slowly on the breeze away from him.
But one just didnt seem to catch the same wind as he plucked it from the space and felt its warmth and the sound of the clink of cups on tables came to mind. "That, was interesting." he murmured, looking about for the items that could have made the sound.

It seemed that they had a wordless agreement to stay near each other, as wherever one moved the other remained not far off. Thiamas found he enjoyed the company of another, that it in itself made him feel slightly more whole in it's own way, though he also felt that being given a form was a moreabsolute need, something he now longed for, to give the goddess what she wished and to be given something in return for his efforts.
He watched with the faintest and fleeting feeling of bemusement as the other jumped to retrieve a fragment that had floated near the vines of a wall. He might have even laughed, except he did not know quite what it was that bubbled up from his throat, and quickly stifled it with a hand. He was smiling now, but it was not something he really understood, just that it was a good thing, and that it also felt right.
He began to search himself for another fragment, for that beacon of soft grey light. There were many, it seemed, that hovered in the air, but there were also many who sought them out as their own. He needed to find one that was as of yet not being stalked, and when he found that one, he scampered after it, this one spinning low to the ground and requiring no more jumping as he scooped it up.
More warmth, another flash of words that came from nowhere but left him feeling better all the time.
This time he did laugh, a happy sound, before he clamped his hands over his mouth, this being the second time he had made a noise without meaning to, while still feeling very confused by it. Was it okay? It...it felt okay...
He turned back to the other, hands still covering his face, glowing lights barely visible between fingers.

Naian liked this place. It was peaceful, and beautiful, though the way everything was so.. so solid made her a little nervous. She touched everything she passed - or at least, everything that wasn't another figure like (and unlike) herself. Teaching herself. Trying to understand the sense of yearning that ached inside her.
This place was dedicated to the Goddesses; she soaked in their effigies, their shrines. She knew the task that she had been given. It seemed there were no shortage of fragments, though. No need to fight over them.
One gleamed, and she turned towards it. As she touched it, she felt...
Make a contract with me, and-
... Something.

Another fragment glimmered in her vision, but when she turned her head it was gone. Maybe it had just been a glint off of some fog, or off of the water.

She moved over to sit down for a moment, near a small shrine that she thought was to Yearning... but it was kind of hard to tell. It was an old shrine, and the figure within seemed as featureless as every other being here.

After a few moment's peaceful rest, she shifted and realized there was a fragment just beneath her seat. She sighed a bit at her own lack of observation and picked it up-
Never.
Her hands spasmed, tightening around the crystal and making her fingertips hurt. She dropped the fragment, then slowly bent down to retrieve it again, warily. Nothing happened when she touched it again, but she felt a little strange.

She rose again and moved to walk along a different path. Another fragment presented itself, and she reached out to it hesitantly, after the what had happened the last time she'd touched one. One grey fingertip tapped the fragment-
Ooooh, Johnny Danger!
... Well, that was weird.

Another fragment was hiding to the side, in a wisp of... that was a plant? Hm. She was learning all kinds of new things today. Had she known what a plant was before now? She wasn't sure.
Four fragments. She was so close! Soon she'd be able to offer these up to the Goddess in thanks for the heart she'd been given. She paused, though, as she picked up the fragment and a wave of strange feeling washed over her.
Who am I?!
... "Naian," she said aloud, shaking her head. These fragments (for she'd decided the fragments were talking to her) were very silly.
