Nat 20. Success!
And that was that. With the final hand seal finished, Bo Jun was now able to move onto something a bit different. This was something he was very thankful for, because he wasn't one to sit back and spend time doing the same thing over and over. While being a master of one thing might work for some people, Bo Jun would rather be really good at a lot of things in order to make them a bit easier. After all, the more tricks you had the easier it was to defeat someone you had to fight. It was similar to how you were better off with more cannonballs in a fight as opposed to less; although Bo Jun still remembered that having too many would sink the ship. Regardless, he looked down at the syllabus to figure out what he had to do next.

It was now time for Bo Jun to move onto something interesting. After looking at the academy syllabus again, he decided on the Bushin no Jutsu. Why? Because he knew it was some kind of jutsu, and like everything else in the academy, it was probably simple, repetitive, and would most likely save Bo Jun's life one day. Can't build a boat without the keel. Can't build a sail without cloth. As such, he decided to study the scroll itself for a bit, looking it over and trying to visualize the technique. He wasn't exactly sure how it worked, but he knew he'd have to do it a few times before he got it down. Practice made perfect after all, and Bo Jun knew he'd be doing a lot of practicing.

7+5 = 12. Success!
The first attempt at making the clone turned out to be a marginal success. While Bo Jun had managed to indeed make a clone, he wasn't really sure who it was. The assignment was to make one of himself, thus why it was called a clone and not an illusion. As such, he studied it to see just what he had gotten wrong. He knew that the arms and legs weren't the right size, nor was the face correct. Of course, when he touched it, the entire clone vanished in a puff of smoke. It appeared they weren't exactly what one would call durable. Knowing what he had to focus on this time, Bo Jun tried once again to make a clone of himself.

This time the clone that Bo Jun made turned out a little better, albeit with a few more minor imperfections. The nose wasn't the right shape, the eyes weren't the right color, the fingers were a bit too long... All of these things would probably give it away against a master ninja. Then again they would have to know what Bo Jun looked like as well, but Bo Jun figured that for this he would have to just try harder the next time. After flicking the clone away, he began to look himself over, trying to make sure that he didn't get any of these minor imperfections wrong again. It wasn't like him to be so careless with things that were important, so he didn't want to be careless when learning techniques.

12+5 = 17. Success!
For the third time Bo Jun had managed to create some kind of clone of himself. But like the others thus far it wasn't exactly perfect. He had managed to make the nose look right, and he had managed to make the eyes the right color, but the hair was all wrong, and the clone he made looked more like he was starving than anything else. Comically thin didn't exactly make the clone look believable. Ah well, back to the drawing board then. Bo Jun dispelled the clone in the usual fashion, by flicking it in the face, and then got back to trying to make another clone. He was glad that he was managing to create the clones at all, but he wasn't exactly happy that they weren't coming out perfectly. That's what more practice was for though.

Again Bo Jun was able to create a clone that looked something like himself. Again it wasn't exactly perfect, nor was it satisfactory for his standards. The hair was a bit better, and the arms and legs were about the right size, but whereas the previous clone had been abnormally thin, this clone was obese. As such, it barely looked anything like Bo Jun, and therefore while it was a clone, it wasn't the kind of clone he needed to be producing. He made a mental note to focus more on the body type, since it was the body type that seemed to be throwing him off the most. After dispelling the clone, Bo Jun went back over the hand seals again, and tried to figure out how to make a correct clone this time.

Now that he had created five clones that all looked something like himself, Bo Jun was glad that this one looked more like him than any of the others up till now. In fact, it was pretty good if Bo Jun could indulge himself a bit, since he was pretty confident that unless someone knew him personally, this clone would do the job. Still, he wanted to be able to pass off his clones to people who did know him personally, any anything less than a perfect copy wouldn't serve his needs in the long run. He only needed to create five more, but he would settle for doing as many as he needed to create the perfect clones of himself.

This time the clone came out exactly right, and Bo Jun let out a sight of relief. He was so happy that he had finally created a perfect clone, even though he knew he needed a bit more practice. Doing something right once was a fluke. Doing something right twice was lucky. Doing something right every time was mastery. As such, He began looking over his "perfect" clone for anything that seemed off, anything that seemed wrong with it. Again, he focused on the face and on the hair, but he also made sure to take note of the limbs, since his were slightly longer than the average boy his age. He figured that he could do it again, so after dispelling the clone he went right back to work on another one.

Once again Bo Jun was able to create a clone of himself. It seemed that he was much better with this than he was with the hand seals. In fact, he seemed pretty confident that he could complete them all without messing up... but he still had a few more to go. Bo Jun looked over his new clone the same way a farmer might look over cattle at an auction before buying it. He wanted to make sure it was perfect in every way, and the tiniest of imperfections would need to be weeded out. As such, he realized that the veins on his left arm were actually red instead of the correct bluish color. He knew that would have to be fixed immediately before someone smarter than him worked it out.

3+5 = 8. Failure.
This time when Bo Jun attempted to make a clone, nothing happened. Perhaps he was too tired. Perhaps he got too overconfident. Perhaps he simply messed up something simple and managed to fail miserably. Whatever the reason, Bo Jun didn't create a clone this time, much to his dismay. For the first time since starting this assignment, he was unable to do anything right. As such, he sat back, took a deep breath, and tried to clear his head. Then, after a bit of deliberation and relaxation, he managed to create the hand seals again and tried to create yet another clone with his chakra. He was fairly confident that he would be able to do it after so many previous successes, but it was obvious that after last time that previous success didn't mean victory.

3+5 = 8. Failure.
For a second time in a row Bo Jun was unable to actually create a clone. He wasn't sure what was wrong this time either; he wasn't tired and he was sure that he had done the hand seals correctly. He went back over them, trying to make sure that any minute detail that he had either missed or screwed up would be fixed when he did it again. If there was one thing Bo Jun hated, it was wasting time and energy on things. As such, he sat back and went through each step one at a time, making sure that when he did it for real again it would work. He didn't really feel like wasting time messing up on these things; he was barely done the second assignment and there was still so much to do before he could graduate.

Finally after two failed attempts Bo Jun was back on track. He had managed to get it right, but it was clear that his technique had reverted a bit since he last managed to succeed. Again the eyes were back to being wrong, and the color of the clothing was off too. Sure these were little things that were unlikely to be noticed by most, but they were significant enough to show that Bo Jun hadn't yet finished everything that he needed to do. In fact, it showed that he was pretty far from being done with this assignment, even though he felt like he was almost done with it. Perhaps that was because he wanted to be done with it; he wasn't exactly known for staying on things for this long when he had basically got it right already.

Alright this was it. He had managed to create the perfect clone of himself. No imperfections. No messed up eye or hair colors. No baffling changes to the body type that made him think he was looking through a fun house mirror. No, this time Bo Jun had got it right. It was almost beautiful in his eyes, because this meant to him that if he could reproduce it, he would be done with this assignment and move on to something else. Hopefully someone better, something more interesting than this, since while it had started out as an adventure, it had now become a tiring chore and annoyance for him. Only one more clone stood between him and completion, and he wasn't going to let it hold him back any longer.

Nat 1. Failure.
Oh how cruel fate was to Bo Jun! Just when he was so certain that he would be able to do it a second time, the most minor of hand seal slip ups caused him to botch the entire thing worse than he cared to admit! He hoped for the best, and expected the worst, and the worst had happened. Clearly he should go with what he expected more than what he hoped for, because more often than not his expectations came true. Except that was far too pessimistic, and Bo Jun didn't want to be known as someone who was overly negative all the time. As such, he tried to put the entire thing behind him and tried once again. He knew he could create another perfect clone, so long as he didn't mess up some minor thing again.
