A growl suddenly sounded and echoed throughout the cave, frightening Jake a little. But a small vibration in his core told him it was merely his stomach. He then began wondering if Arc was awake, but delayed him from getting into the water to find out.
Eventually, he did leave the cave, returning to the pond's surface. A delightful aroma hit his nose and he immediately began to swim towards the source. The servant stopped just at the shore, a bit afraid to approach the campfire.

Arc sat there, turning the meat here and there, cooking it till it was tenderand juicy. "Come and eat." Is all he said.

Warily, Jake obeyed his master's command. Out of instinct, he flapped his wings until they were nearly dry. Glancing at them, he was sure he could see just a bit of skin under all the feathers. He definitely lost more than he could grow in a short period of time.

Arc, picked up a stick and bit into it. Chewing on the venisin.

(It's either that, or maybe the feathers aren't growing in as quickly as they usually do.)
Jake took a glance at Arc and then felt his heart skip a beat or two. He mentally kicked himself in the head for having such feelings.

Taking a stick and making his own kabob, Jake began to eat as well. He sat at a distance from Arc, only enough to keep out of arms reach if the man decided to... take him again. Then again, it may be futile to actually evade him.

As if he was going to anything? yeah right, if he wasn't so Melencholy then he'd take him. He often cursed these massive mood swings that happened.

After a while, Jake had almost completely relaxed, almost enjoying the silence between them. Normally, when the old Master had been alive, he would have been chattering away, but the servant was quite sure Arc wouldn't bother to listen to him, much less have a conversation with him.

There was one way to put it bluntly if he summed up everything the angel was about: that Jake was a suicidal-angelic being that hated him. He really didn't care if he hate him, but the angel was too dumb to find someone or something to live for. As he put it a few months back, not the sharpest. A complete opposite of himself.
It was a bad sign when his brain began to think, it meant something sparked those gears into motion, other than that, school and the company came too easy and natural. He studied Jake. Yes, he would make a fine person to work at one of the small stores, stocking the lower shelves.

Jake eventually got sick of the silence. He might as wellsay something, even if it angered Arc. What has he got to lose other than his sanity? He should not be afraid of the inevitable. All he could really do was wait to be considered insane.
Throwing caution to the wind, he cleared his throat. "Why did you bring me here?" the servant asked. He had many other questions, especially one that regarded the false kindness and concern, but he held his tongue. Arc probably won't answer, so what was the point?

"Your still clueless?" He raised an eyebrow. The boy obviously was. He only brought him to the glade cause he wouldn't calm down to think clearly and in crystal fashion.

Jake was a bit shocked that for once he got some kind of response, even though his question wasn't answered. He should continue talking. "Yeah, I'm still clueless," he admitted. "Your actions just seem so contradictory to me. You torment me and then all of a sudden you seem concerned about my welfare. If you hate me so much, why are you messing with me?" He braced himself for an infliction of pain, or maybe even worse. He knew he was digging his own grave, but he really only had his sanity left to lose. "I prefer you actually show me you hate me so I don't have to hope you actually care. After all, I'm apparently too stupid to tell otherwise."

He stared hard. At least the boy was learning to speak for himself. And he made a smart comment. He never called him stupid, just a slow learner. There was an icy chill running through his bones, he kept on going back to that nightmare. His only answer was two worded. It was the bane of his existence. "The Will."
Truthfully, it told him to care of Jake but didn't say how, it also didn't dictate how he should act around the boy- only to take care of him.

The mention of the Will sparked anger in him, but he was strangely able to keep calm. "So you were following the Will?" asked the servant, though he knew the answer. His already shattered heart broke even more, as it seemed all the strangely kind gestures from Arc were not of his own will. "I see... Then... all those times you slept with me... Did the Will tell you to be gentle and slow? To torture me internally?" He tried not to rub at his eyes. "I'm a fool to think you actually had a heart. You probably do, but it doesn't exist to me." What was he saying? It would be a miracle if Arc decided to listen to what his heart was pouring, or bleeding, out.
