A clunking noise could be heared as the Aiolos attached to the docking point. Zed hit the button beside it, but the hatch was on a five minute timer, which also activated an alarm system on the sleeper ship, indicating that someone had docked without autherisation. The alert irritated the alien creatures, sending them into a frenzied rage, and alerted them to the location of Zed and Koko.
"We've got five minutes to hold em' off... HERE THEY COME!"
A rumbling could be heared, it gradually got louder until the creatures burst into the chamber once again, this time floating in swarms.
Zed switched to a more rapid-fire mode on his railgun and opened fire.

There was a strange disturbance in the air in front of Zed - where the first wave of creatures were charging - before they split in half. Koko didn't seem to have moved from her position, but she was now covered in their blood, her knife in hand. The maniacle grin was still plastered to her face & she seemed completely out-of-it. It was only after about a minute of fighting, when one of the adult creatures managed to get close enough to attack with it's tail, that she snapped back to her senses. The massive spikes on the alien's tail were going to hit Zed while he focused on the others, until Koko got in the way. With her arms crossed in front of her face, she took the attack on herself. Grabbing the tail so the alien couldn't flee, she took out her rifle & shot it point blank in the face. There was a brief moment of silence, as the creatures drew back - presumably to re-group.
In the near-darkness on the other side of the room, more of the creatures appeared to replace those that had fallen, there seemed no end to them. With a quick glance back at the docking point timer, the mercenary saw that they only had 2 minutes before it opened. She pushed the pilot slightly, making him take a step back as she kept her eyes on the creatures.
"Zed, there isn't much longer before the timer's out. Get your a** onto that ship as soon as that hatch opens, I'll keep 'em off ya."
Blood was dripping down Koko's arms from the wounds she'd sustained & the limbs shook slightly as she tried to level her gun; but she had a determined look on her face, now that she was back in her right mind.

Zed nodded and kept shooting, quickly overheating his railgun. He grabbed his jetpack off of his back and held it under his arm. He pulled a panel off the back of it and pulled out a small device that limited the amount of fuel burned on the jetpack, effectively turning it into a makeshift flamethrower.
He took the jetpack's trigger and held it, blasting fire at the swarming creatures.
The timer hit zero and the hatch swung open, but rather than letting Koko hold them off, Zed signaled to her to go on ahead.
"I need to jettison this part from the rest of the ship! GO!"

Koko snarled slightly & took a step towards the fire, her gun firing into the flames.
"Not a bloody chance! I was first into this s**t-hole, I'll be the last one out!"
An empty magazine now lay at her feet. There had been no indication that the mercenary had reloaded, but she obviously had done. Now she was busy unloading the new clip into the creatures climbing over their burning brethren.
"Jettison the part or whatever! Just hurry up! I'm much faster than you, I'll make it on afterwards."
Another empty magazine fell to her feet, but she was soon firing again, yelling over the sound of her weapon.

Zed noticed the jetpack-flamethrower was about to go critical and explode, so he threw it at the swarm.
He pushed himself off of the wall and through the swarm to the opposite wall console where he activated the release system. As he pushed himself back, the jetpack exploded sending him flying towards Koko.

Koko's eyes widened slightly as she saw Zed hurtling towards her. In a split second instinctive reaction she flung herself backwards & dropped her weapon, twisting in the air to form a backflip just as the pilot was about to collide with her. It was only because she was so unbelievably fast that she was able to pull the move off; her foot connected with Zed & she kicked him backwards over her, sending him through the open hatch before landing on her hands & springing up to land back on her feet.
"Jeez, that was close."
She snatched her gun back up & fired at the creatures still rampaging towards her. The mercenary took slow steps back, holding off the creatures as best she could despite her bloodied arms.

Zed landed in the Aiolos' airlock that was attached to the docking point. He turned back and pulled Koko through the hatchway with him.
The creatures began swarming around the hatchway, those shot were replaced by two more of the maddened aliens.
He went to hit the emergency close button, but the creatures managed to get a hold of his left arm, pulling him towards where the hatch was.
"s**t s**t s**t!"
Zed weighed up his options, and chose to hit the emergency close button anyway.
The heavy emergency door slammed shut and a loud crunch could be heared as Zed's left arm got severed just above the elbow.
He didn't make a sound, not even as the Aiolos disconnected from the docking point, leaving his left arm in the sleeper ship.

Koko took all of 2 seconds to process what had just happened, then she grabbed what was left of Zed's arm & clamped down with her hand, applying a lot of pressure just above the severed point. Struggling to get her belt off with one (alread injured) arm, she yelled at him.
"You stupid idiot! Why didn't you just wait one more second?! I could have got you out! I could have.... I could have saved your damn arm! Why didn't you wait?!"
Continuing to yell at him, her language becoming rather crude, the mercenary managed to secure her belt around Zed's arm to create a tourniquet & stem the bleeding. Once this was done she quietened quite a bit, the shock from the previous events beginning to sink in.
"We need to get that sorted quickly, the quicker I can seal it, the less chance of infection..."

Zed pointed to a dead larval alien that was laying behind Koko. He'd rushed his decision to quickly shoot it off of Koko's back as it had been about to insert one if it's large claws into the back of her neck.
"Quarterize it with the fusion cutter... that'll stop the bleeding. just be careful, it's freaking hot."

Koko took a brief look at the larvae & a chill ran down her spine. Shaking herself a little, she span round to find the fusion cutter. She looked at it for a few moments before turning back to Zed & activating the piece of equipment, placing the tip against what was left of his arm. She worked quickly, using the intense heat to quarterize & seal his wound before removing her belt from around his arm.
"There.... that's the best I can do...."
She placed the fusion cutter back where she found it before looking down at her arms. Deep lacerations covered the limbs, bleeding freely. They were beginning to become numb & shake - which couldn't be a good sign - but she chose to ignore it, letting her arms hang limp at her sides.
"Come on Zed.... I have an idea for that arm of yours, though it'll take some time to perfect. In the meantime, we need to get what's left of it into a sling."

Zed looked at Koko's arms & avoided looking at his stump.
"Koko... sort yourself out first... I'll be fine for now..."
He struggled to his feet and even offered his remaining hand to help Koko up.

Koko lifted her arm slowly to take Zed's hand, pulling herself up. But she still said nothing about her arms; instead, she dragged Zed through into the inner sections of the Aiolos to the crew's quarters. Making him sit on one of the beds she fetched some medical supplies before walking back over to the pilot. Gritting her teeth, she managed to get the man's arm in a sling, though as she worked with his injured limb tears began to roll down her cheeks. It had been her fault that he'd gotten hurt like this...

"Don't worry about it..."
He looked at the sling, looking at where his arm should be for the first time.
"Thats a pretty good job you did with that sling... Now, you need to patch yourself up too, those things had sharp as hell claws..."
He smiled dispite the pain he was in.

Koko shook her head slightly & stood up, letting her hair cover her face. She was leaving spot trails of blood wherever she walked. As she reached the exit to the room she spoke with the voice of someone trying not to cry (but not very well).
"You shouldn't leave here for a while, your body will need to... adjust to having a missing arm. You might.. experience a.. 'ghost limb' type-thing.. where your body believes... that you still have the limb."
With that she left, heading for the observation deck & still letting her arms bleed.
I'll sort them in a minute....

Zed wandered down to the engine deck, finding various scraps of metal and electronic componants and bringing them to the cargo bay.
"I didn't even like that arm that much anyway..."
He sat on the floor and started fiddling with the various objects he'd found.
