Devina Glanced over at the nutter in the cage and huffed, then
looking up at Tak "you think that.." she said pointing at the
person in the cage "would seriously make me listen to you"
her eyes suddenly filled with a slight anger, "you are really
irritating me"
blood trickled down her right eye and they glint a
slight blue.

Sky was nervous. Today he had finally been raised to position of a real servant; less than ambitious for some, but after sixteen years of scullery work he was more than ready for his new responsibilities. This was the root of his anxiety: serving the prisoners. Sky was more used to serving pigs and goats, not dangerous and possibly deranged criminals.
The young man’s footsteps echoed dully in the stairwell as he made his way down, laden with two buckets of thin soup and a pack of hard, black bread. If everything went as planned he wouldn’t have any actual physical contact with the cell occupants.
“Two scoops and a slice to every bowl,” Sky murmured softly to himself. He was no simpleton and the self reminder wasn‘t necessary, but this was his first visit to the dungeons and he didn’t want to mess it up. Especially if the doctor were around… Sky gave a mental shudder. Doctors had needles, and needles gave him the creeps. This was reason enough to try and avoid him, not to mention all the strange kitchen gossip Sky routinely heard about the occupants in the castle. This included talk of a new prisoner, a young man, set to be executed at dawn. This thought drew a grim look on Sky’s face. He had just reached the entrance to the castle’s prison.
The new servant cautiously set down the food and fished out an iron key from within the pocket of his nondescript brown tunic. The key turned with a loud click, and Sky retrieved the goods he was set to deliver. “Here goes nothing,” he breathed, and slowly pushed open the door to the castle dungeon.

((Shall we just timeskip to the next day and get this over with?))

"As you should know, Kari," Kai started slowly as he pushed himself from the table. He stood up, a slim man, with a delicate face. However, his eyes were hard. "Those who steal the crown will only have it stolen back; and that goes both ways." As Kai said this, he stepped closer to his pupil. Kai inspected both her and James for a moment, before letting out a sigh.

His fustration had died down, and he was back to his ordinary self. "However," Kai finally spoke, rubbing his temples. "If you seems so inclined to, I doubt you would have it any other way." He smiled to his pupil and James. It seems she would have it no other way either...

James seemed to relax a bit after what Kai said. "Thank you. Now I'm positive that we can rescue Aki and get him out alive," he said.
Kari thought for a moment. How do they plan on rescuing him? she asked herself. "What's the plan?" she asked.
"This is what we-and by that I mean Hana-came up with..." James said and proceeded to explain their rescue plan.

((nah, just move on))
PostPosted: Fri Jun 25, 2010 11:59 pm

((All righty.))

The sun was just coming up above the horizon. Aki stood on a platform in the center of town. Satoshi was beside him. Around his neck was the noose that would be the cause of his death. His hands were tied behind his back. Despite his grim situation, Aki’s face showed no emotion. No fear. No worry. Nothing. He stood as someone who had accepted his fate. A crowd of citizens had come to watch the Faren prince’s execution, both Faren and Gailor.
Satoshi scanned over the crowd quickly, not looking in depth. Had he done so, he would have noticed the fugitives hiding among the citizens. But he didn’t. “People of Tinto, I give you Prince Akihiko of Faren. He has rebelled against the mighty king of Gailor and attacked his soldiers. For such crimes, the penalty is death. Not even a prince is an exception to this law. Those of you who wish to rebel against His Majesty, take this as an example of what will happen to you,” he said loudly to the people.
Hana couldn’t help a slight glare. She briefly glanced up at the building where James was hiding. Come on, James...Hurry up, she thought. Aki was quickly running out of time. He only had a few minutes left. It was then she heard Aki’s voice.
“People of Faren! Listen to what I say! It is true that I am Prince Akihiko, and it is true that I have decided to fight against this tyranny. But I am no different than any of you standing here now! Like you, I am but one man, and one man alone cannot restore Faren. Individually, you are weak. But together...Together you are strong! Together you can retake your home! Though I die here, you can take my place in reclaiming your country! You can defeat Gailor! Faren exists as long as you live and draw breath! For all those who have died protecting this country, reclaim your home! Long live Faren!” Aki shouted.
Satoshi had not been expecting Aki’s speech and quickly turned around.

-------------------------------------------------------------

James lay on the roof of a building in Tinto. His crossbow was in his hands. He had a perfect view of Aki and Satoshi. There was nothing to obstruct his view. He trained his crossbow on the rope above Aki’s head, just below the top knot. He had almost pulled the trigger when Aki started speaking. He waited until Aki was finished and again aimed at the rope. Vinidas, please let this hit! he silently prayed before he pulled the trigger...

-------------------------------------------------------------

Satoshi had been about to pull the lever that would release the trap door beneath Aki when, suddenly, a bolt from a crossbow cut the rope above Aki’s head. “What!?”
Hana burst from the crowd and jumped onto the platform, just behind Aki. With a knife she had been carrying, she sliced through the rope around his wrist. Then she ran around him so she was between Aki and Satoshi.
Aki was obviously just as surprised as Satoshi to see Hana. “Hana!?”
Hana gave a slight smirk. “Sorry we’re late, Your Highness,” she said to Aki. She raised her left hand in front of her with her palm facing Satoshi and created a chi barrier.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Kari was in the prison where Aki had been held before he was taken to his “execution.” She had been asked by James to find and recover Aki’s sword, Ragnarok. That sword was the proof that Aki was from the Faren bloodline. She knew of the spell around the sword that prevented anyone who was not of Faren blood from touching it, but she also knew that sword’s sheath suppressed the power of the sword so normal people could touch it. She hoped the sword was in its sheath.
She walked around the prison until she came to the room where the prisoners’ belongings were. There were few guards in the prison, since most were outside watching the execution, and the ones that remained were easily knocked out with sleeping gas. She walked into the room and looked around. There was only one sword in the room, so she figured it must be it. However, to be on the safe side, she moved her hand out to touch its hilt. Blue lighting flew from it to her hand, forcing her to pull it away. With a small smile, she grabbed the sword, which was thankfully in its sheath, and ran out of the room.
It took her only a few minutes to leave the prison. She emerged just in time to hear Aki shout, “Long live Faren!” Then everything happened according to plan. James shot the rope and Hana jumped onto the platform to protect the prince. She ran though the crowd, muttering a few quick words under her breath in an ancient language. Lightning suddenly appeared in the sky, even though it was clear, and streaked down toward some Gailor soldiers who were trying to run up and overwhelm Hana and Aki.

User Image Renka had been hiding on a rooftop much closer to the prince the James, he'd listened to the speeches, but remained hidden when Aki was freed so he could spot any gaps in the guards placements before getting involved. In the morning light he made out another silhouette hiding on another roof..and it wasn't James..
Renka jumped down just in time to use his forearm as a shield before the arrow could reach it's target, recognizing the arrow's detail as he pulled it out of his arm.
"....to fight from the shadows...brings little honor when trying to kill royalty, Inui." he said as he glared at the silhouette on the rooftop.

"Aw, how cute, so you've become a nice little pet? I guess a stray like you had no choice but to grovel to dethroned royal. I'll go ahead and put you down too." Sei notched two arrows and shot at both the prince and Renka, only to have them cut down by her brother.

Selina watched from a distance, watching over Renka
and Aki, her eyes widened as two arrows appeared, but thankfully
were taken care of, Selina frowned as the looked in the direction
in which the arrows came from, running in a bit close a girl came
into view carrying a bow, without hesitation Selina removed her
bow from her back, setting up and arrow and coming to a stop,
inhaling deeply and pulling back the string, she released the arrow
with much force increasing its speed as it aimed for Sei.

Sky was amongst the people crowded closest to the gallows, and had enjoyed a good view of ensuing chaos. When the arrows starting flying, however, things got bad. The crowd was panicking, and with mass mentality to flee they were pushing and jostling to try and get away. A strange shock of lightning pulsed towards the Gailor guards just as a hard elbow caught Sky in the face.
He went down, hard. Someone caught him under the chin; another accidentally kicked him in the stomach. Sky managed to get to his feet, wheezing and trying to get his breath back.
These maniacs were using magic! Lightning straight from the sky! He was terrified and ecstatic all at the same time. Never in his whole life in the castle had he ever seen such skill before.
An arrow whizzed by Sky's head, straight towards a girl with a bow.
"Watch out!" He yelled, only hoping it wasn't too late.

Selina wasn't one for mercy, hearing a sudden voice warning the
girl, Selina had already notched another arrow aiming it at the
boy, though as she glared at him as he had his back turned to
her, knowing the girl she aimed at would probably dodge her arrow
now, Selina placed her bow away and drew both her katana,
dashing towards the girl, justing passing the boy paying him no
mind, Selina lauched herself off the floor she placed made an
attempt downslash at the girl keeping the other free to make a
counter or block.

User Image Sei saw the arrow thanks to the boy that called out and deflected it by spinning her bow. "Don't interfere girlie...." As the girl approached Sei shouldered her bow and drew two strange bows, instead of a normal small arrowhead the was a longer two edged blade. Sei held the two rapier-like arrows in either hand, using one to guard against the attack and the other to strike at the girl's throat.

User Image "Be careful Selina!" Renka didn't like it, but he had to think of getting the prince out safely and with Inui distracted it would be easier to get away. "Prince Aki, we should should get moving.." Renka said as he spared a glance at the prince before using his scythe to get rid of an approaching guard, though as if telling him something else the blade seemed to gain a dark blue hue and almost seemed to absorb some of the blood from his small wound into the shaft.

((Demon is dropping out. He has a month long trip coming up and won't be able to post. And he is having constant writer's block in the RP.))

Kari shoved her way through the panicking crowd, attempting to get to the platform. However, every time she got anywhere close, the crowd shoved her back. But she eventually managed to make it to the platform. She jumped up onto it, Ragnarok in her hand, and ran over to Aki.
"This way, your Highness!" she said.

Aki heard an unfamiliar voice and turned. The girl he saw was only about his own age with purple hair. Although he didn't know her, he knew he could trust her. There was just something about her...
"Right." He turned to Hana. "Hurry and catch up," he told her and he and Kari jumped off the platform and into the crowd, quickly blending in.

"Tch..." Damn. He got away. How the hell did they get here so fast? Satoshi thought. He mentally cursed himself for not being more prepared for this. Why hadn't he thought that people would attempt to stop the execution, even if the prince's friends had not been there?
Hana began charging up some chi for a massive blast, expecting Satoshi to try to go after Aki and the girl. "Don't even think about pursuing," she warned.
"I don't have time for this." Satoshi threw something onto the ground, but Hana couldn't tell what it was. Suddenly a smoke screen rose from the ground where the object had landed.
A smoke bomb! Hana thought and started coughing as the smoke caught in the back of her throat. When the smoke cleared, Satoshi was gone. She frantically looked around, hoping he was still nearby, but with no luck. "Damn!" She jumped into the crowd and ran off, looking for Aki and the girl.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Kari led Aki to a small alley. They hid behind some crates as some Gailor soldiers ran past it, looking for the escapee and the other rebels. As soon as the coast was clear, Kari stepped a little closer to Aki, holding out Ragnarok.
"I assume you are Prince Akihiko. I believe this belongs to you," she said.

Aki took the sword from her. He buckled the sword and sheath back onto his belt. He was grateful for the weight of the sword at his side again. "You assume correctly. May I ask your name?" he asked.
"I am Kari. I am a citizen of Faren. I am also a mage in training. My master's name is Kai," Kari told him.
Aki gasped slightly at the name Kai. Kai!? He survived!? he thought. "Wh-Where...Where is Kai now?" he asked.
Kari was surprised by Aki's reaction to Kai's name. Does he know Master Kai? she asked herself. "I honestly don't know. He said he was going to help with this operation, but I don't know where he went," she said.

((I am assuming Kai didn't tell Kari that he was the court divinator.))

((Oops. Forgot James.))

James watched what was happening from his position on the roofs. He had originally intended on assisting them from his spot, but hadn't anticipated the confusion and panic. There was no way he could shoot through that without injuring some innocent person.
He saw the smoke screen and Satoshi's escape. Satoshi headed the same direction Aki and some other girl had. James quickly stood and ran along the rooftops following him. He wasn't going to let Satoshi get Aki. Eventually, Satoshi stopped to look around at a fork, obviously trying to decide which way to go. James took this as his opportunity and, though he wasn't very confident, pulled the trigger of his crossbow.

When a crossbow bolt flew past his face, mere centimeters from hitting him, Satoshi spun around, and saw James on the rooftop. "What do you think you're doing, boy?" he asked angrily.
"I will not let you get Aki," James said, loading another bolt into his crossbow.
"I see. In that case..." Satoshi jumped up onto the next roof over and drew his dagger. "I cannot allow you to live!" Satoshi ran at James, easily jumping over the gap between the roofs.
James attempted to dodge by jumping out of the way, but lost his footing and slipped. He managed to stop himself at the very edge of the roof so he wouldn't fall off, but his crossbow, which he had dropped, fell over. Oh no...This isn't good... he thought. Satoshi was standing above him, his crossbow had fallen off the roof, and he was now unarmed. How was he going to get out of this one?
"Any last words, boy?"
