"Order" is such a misleading word. For us, it usually means PIZZA PARTY WOOHOO!

(( I am back for the moment. ))

Curiosity heaped upon curiosity, he watched as the figure out on the beach removed her cloak and hiked up her robe before heading out to the ocean. He felt his jaw drop when she walked across the waters, and he stood transfixed, wondering how this was. Perhaps a trick of the light? A hidden rock or reef? But it looked like she walked through the waves as if the sea water was only an inch deep. Impossible.

He leaned out farther from the trunk, scooting along the branch and then jerked back against the tree when he swore the woman out there looked in his direction. She wore the colors of the Order, had been shouting something, obviously looking for someone and he would have bet his life on it that she was looking for him. And on whim he shouted back, "Rika?"

The Overseer scrambled down the tree, and felt himself torn. He sat down underneath the tree, resting his back on it, a few feet from the edge of the short drop off. While he was waiting, he picked at the grass and toyed with it as the questions in his mind began to bubble up. Maybe she could answer a few, now that they were out here, and where he did not feel so confined.

All good is hard, and all evil is easy. Dying, losing...

Jessie was quite speechless.

No... wait, yes. Speechless.

Well, perhaps not entirely. "Um... it... well."

Of course, he eventually had to come up with something a little more articulate. For him, the easiest option was to resort to gruff dismissal. As such, he looked away from her, the golden sash on his robe swaying haughtily. "You owe me nothing. I would have done the same for any of my recruits."

This was followed by silence, during which time he decided it was time to move along. "Well, we came here to eat. Let's join the others."

He approached the door, but then stopped. Something was gnawing at him. It was a rather uncomfortable feeling - guilt? Conscience? Either way, it was uncomfortable, and he suddenly didn't feel like changing the situation before it was addressed.

He turned, but couldn't quite look at her. "I'm sorry, Coline. For what I just said. You must have realised by now that I am a cruel man, but you do not deserve such treatment."

He glanced at her once, before sinking into the deepest bow physically possible - his nose nearly touched his knees, and his white hair fell towards the ground like a waterfall. What Coline didn't know was that a bow so deep would have been reserved for a queen - a Valsharess - or a particularly respected Matron Mother. As distinction between degrees of bow was not observed in this world, for many, many years Jessie had simply chosen the degree he felt necessary for the situation.

"My apologies."

...Cheating and mediocrity are easy. Stay away from easy.

Evelyn's singing had apparently attracted the bird to her, for it landed right next to her. She stared at it for a few moments, softly singing to it. She reached her hand toward it, hoping it would hop on. She held her breath, praying that it would come to her. If she could get the bird, maybe she could get the Overseer back...

She exhaled as the bird climbed onto her finger, smiling. She brought it up to her face so she was looking into its eyes. And the bird gave her a peck on the nose. She giggled at the gesture, and the bird seemed to smile at her. Perhaps there was hope, even if the Overseer had lost his memory...

Harata finished the book, and looked around. She could always go to the feast, but she had not helped prepare it, and was not hungry in any case. She wandered to the shore, and sat, doodling absent mindedly in the sand as she thought. About life, and what had happened, who she was, and what she was. Over all, she was not to pleased with the situation at the moment. An angry tear pulled itself down her face, and she hastily wipped it away, making certain no others followed. Gods. I feel like sh-t.

Lorika sucked in her breath as she heard her name. It was the Overseer after all!

"Overseer!" she cried in delight, charging across the sand. She couldn't see him anymore, but she knew he was around some trees up on a ledge, and she headed towards them. Her shoes made the speed impossible, so before she could fall she kicked them off. Her stockings slipped against the sand uncomfortably, giving her very little traction, so she paused for a few moments to hurriedly yank them off. She heard a snap, and had a horrible feeling that she'd managed to break the garter belt hidden under her robes, but she couldn't think of anything except advancing and so tumbled onwards without stopping any further.

As she neared the ledge, she called out again, repeating the same message as a hundred times before.

"Overseer!" was the breathless cry "Please, don't be frightened! I just want to talk!"

She was getting quite close to the ledge now, and slowed down, not entirely sure how she was going to get up there... then again, she'd already lost the dignity of her shoes and part of her undergarments, so why would scrambling up a sheer face be any further concern?

...and you will be lonesome.

[[Hello~ Anyone can give me a brief recap?]]
PostPosted: Thu Dec 10, 2009 5:33 pm

(( Not much has happened; Overseer ran away, the entire Order was summoned to the Temple, Lorika went out to look for him after a while, Harata directed her, Captain sent everyone to the feast, Coline encounters armory guards, Coline and Captain head down to the feast together, Harata sits outside, Evelyn stays away and sings, Lorika spies Overseer.

Yarr. ))

The Overseer's familiar white-haired head popped out over the side of the ledge, looking down where a river once ran. He had thought she would have come from the other way. It was not far, easy to climb if she used the roots and small handholds, but she must have been having a difficult enough of a time.

He studied her with gray eyes, wary, and almost jerking back to hide before it was too late. He gave the odd impression of a nervous and whipped dog, and if he had the ears they would be laying back with a tail tucked between his legs. Somehow, if only because he was still happy to see her, loyal and confused, but fearing the sting of a lash. He stayed where he was and lay flat on his belly so he reached down over the side of the ledge to help pull her up.

"... Why do you think I am afraid? I came here to think."

[[Okay! Thank you Lorika! =3 ]]

Angelique sat up on the pew. She had taken a long enough break. She stood up and stretched; as she wondered if everyone was already eating at the feast. She hoped so. They spent a lot of time preparing that banquet. Angelique yawned and decided to go outside for a while; the Temple was overcrowded already.

She made her way outside and looked around. She wondered if the Overseer and the High Priestess were done with their private talk, and if the Overseer managed to remember anything. Though Angelique thought it was odd; since when do demigod's get amnesia? "Well, since when am I a demigod expert?" she told herself and laughed, answering her own stupid question.

Be good...

Lorika felt such a huge sense of relief at seeing his familiar face... it was indescribable. She suddenly felt weak, as if all the bottled up emotion had flown from her like air from a balloon. She was so grateful when he reached out to her, because she honestly had no idea whether or not she would've had the strength to pull herself up. The thought of levitating never crossed her mind.

Having scrambled up onto the ledge with his help, she sat down, gasping for breath. Her chest hurt a little - had she ever ran so fast in her life? Still, she was glad of it, because upon sitting she realised that she had no idea what she was going to say, or even if she should say anything at all. The Overseer now seemed so volatile, completely unlike the hard, unmoving man with the patience of a glacier she'd come to know and worship.

A minute or so passed while she panted; by the end, she was labouring things just to buy herself more time. Her mind, however, remained completely blank.

Eventually, she had to stop. Taking one deep breath, she exhaled slowly. The air that escaped her was like a sigh of defeat.

Maybe she'd done enough talking for today. She'd long known she wasn't exactly the most charming, persuasive, witty conversationalist in the world anyway, unlike her peers at the head of the Order. So, she turned her face up and fixed her two large, blue eyes on his grey ones. She just hoped her expression invited coversation.

...and you will be lonesome.
