Nathan smiled, kissed Hayate's cheek in return - he forgot that he had already done so - then got out of the car. "Sleep well..." he called back as he closed the door, stepping back with the intention of waving as Hayate drove away.

It took Hayate almost half an hour to drive back home. When he got to his apartment, he checked his email, then went to sleep.

Nathan turned to his front door, got out his key and then glanced around. He paused and squinted, sure he saw someone lurking in the shadows just to the right of the house...
((Mao could be lurking, or some beggar...?))

Of course, Mao had no idea this was where Nathan lived. He simply found himself roaming around the city and stopped there to smoke a cigarette. Not once did he even notice Nathan was around. He simply inhaled the smoke and exhaled. He watched the small puffs fade in the darkness.

Before he could think better of it, the Angel started running towards the shadow on silent feet, his heart pounding. He stopped when he was close enough to confirm his suspicions that it was Mao, and tilted his head a he wondered why the Demon was there.
He sighed, too late realising he'd done so loudly...

Mao glanced over with the cig in his mouth. When he saw it was Nathan he took it out of his mouth and exhaled. "Hey," was all he could think to say. He wondered why Nathan happened to show up where he was.

Nathan folded his arms as his lips twitched. "Did I somehow give you my address, were you following me, or is this just - twisted luck?" he asked, the smile showing at the corners of his mouth.

Mao's eyes widened a bit. "You live here?" he asked. He looked up at the buildings and shrugged to himself. "Pretty nice place you got here with your parents." He then put the cig back in his mouth.

Nathan sighed softly. "Knew it had to be twisted luck..." he muttered, shrugging. "But it was left to us by a relative, so... though since it needs doing up it might not have been a 'kind' thing in that sense..."
Then he cleared his throat. "So... how was your day?" he asked quietly.

"Boring," Mao replied bluntly. "It was the same as every other day. Of course I can tell you had a good day. Am I right? I mean, I'm glad you finally found someone you like and that can take care of you." Mao exhaled once more and realized what Nathan's next question would be. He wasn't in the mood for surprising anyone. "I can smell another man's scent all over you."

Damn. Bloody typical - I spend most of the night thinking about him, even defending him, and he knows I was with another man ~ AND ISN'T EVEN JEALOUS!!!
Nathan barely bit back his reaction, forced a smile and shrugged. "It's a couple of dates so far, but he seems like a decent guy - though he thinks you'd poison people, me included..."
The last bit was tossed in casually, Nathan secretly watching Mao's face without being obvious.

Nathan frowned. "Not 'nothing', not really: you matter too. Hey! Maybe we could double date?" he suggested with a smile.
"We can definitely find someone to help you be happy - just because we found out that we couldn't do that for one another, doesn't mean you shouldn't keep looking!" He slung a friendly arm around Mao's shoulders.

Mao smirked and shook his head. He took the cig out of his mouth for the last time an dropped it to the ground; he then put it out. "You're so naive," Mao replied. "You say things couldn't work out when in reality you never even tried. I give you a key to my apartment, I let you sleep on my bed and I take care of you. I wait for you to tell me, but you're too busy giving off shy little hints instead of just telling me how you feel. If things didn't work out between us it's because there was never a chance to be anything between us." Mao then pushed Nathan back against the wall and pressed his own body against Nathan's. "I'm not interested in anyone else." He was only inches away from kissing Nathan, though for the moment he held back. He wanted to get a reaction out of Nathan first.

Nathan's breath was coming harshly now, his face flushed, and he stared at Mao with a tiny smile. "I can't take all the blame... you're so bloody difficult to understand...." he breathed, his gaze shifting to Mao's lips before he licked his own.
"And, in case you've forgotten already, I actually slept in your bed with you... then you woke up and didn't tell me anything..." he ended on a whisper, eyes still glued to the Demon's lips as he willed them to descend on his own.
