Switching back to his training once again, the Uchiha continued to think of ways to help his team out. Training the two of his squad members to use their emotions effectively would be a difficult task. Training someone to neglect their emotions was something that was difficult enough, but training one to figure out which emotions to use and which to try and ignore was something on a completely different level. Fortunately for him, he was lucky enough to have two very gifted and driven shinobi that would probably be capable of such a feat. After showing them exactly how they could use emotion to their advantage, Sukotto would go through the process of teaching each of his team members how to control these emotions and really use them to their advantage without risking having these feelings work against them in the long run. In addition, Sukotto would teach the pair about the emotions that could negatively affect them in tricky situations that only a shinobi would be forced to face. He’d top it all off by taking each of them through a practice scenario in which their emotions would be put to the test.

Shisei’s stare at the Raiken could have pierced through iron. The nerve of her to grant him unnecessary help. He was going to make it back up on his own sooner or later. A small inkling in his head wanted to pull her over the edge and see just how she would fair in the same situation, but that thought was interrupted by the kunoichi’s words. “A life for a life eh..” the Orochi stated aloud. It was a bit perplexing for him. Was she talking about some type of exchange in equivalence or was it of some type of a value? As he thought of this concept the serpent youth begrudgingly grasped her hand, keeping his other arm and legs glued to the stone structure. Just in case she decided at the last minute to let go. If she did decide to come to all this trouble of her own volition then he may as well take the help. Although Serena’s reason for coming to aid was a mystery in itself.

To conclude his training session, Sukotto decided to take one last look at the personality differences between his two squad mates that were present. Serena had a level head from as far as Sukotto could tell. It was very possible that more than this lurked beneath the surface, but he figured that the only way to find any more out about the girl would be to push her with training, and casually speak to her from time to time, in a manner that was informal. As for Shisei, the boy had a work ethic that seemed even more admirable than Sukotto's, but the Orochi seemed as though he would do nearly anything for power, even if it meant betraying the village in the future, or so Sukotto figured, and he'd do whatever he could to either change this personality quirk, or to make sure that Shisei always felt that fighting in and for Shimagakure was in his best interest. The two ninja were quite different from one another, both in ability and in personality, and Sukotto had desired this from the start. Two different personalities would help each other grow just about as much as two different fighting and training styles would. Suklotto had a good feeling about this squad, even if he was uncertain about it in some areas.

After completing his mental exercise, Sukotto decided to continue the training that he had previously began before diverting his mind to consider how emotions could be used as an aid in the life of a shinobi, specifically in the lives of his squad members, as opposed to casting them down, which was often something that warriors were taught to do. To make the transition between his training sessions a little more smooth, Sukotto decided to continue thinking of the fights that he had experienced over the course of his shinobi career, figuring that doing so would help him to develop himself as well as his squad in the right direction so that all of them would have the best possible chance of defeating their respective future opponents that they would inevitably face on the field of battle. He picked up right where he had left off with the fight between himself and the tag-team combination of Maya and Baki. The Uchiha had successfully disabled Baki, and that drove Maya's emotions in a dangerous direction, a direction that Sukotto hoped to keep his squad members, especially the Orochi youth, from venturing in. The girl entered a frenzy and then brought out her two claw-like tekagi to use against the Uchiha.

The fact that Maya took out her weapons was strictly against the rules that they had agreed to when setting the pace of the sparring competition. After all, they were shinobi of the same village and held no grudges against each other, so it wouldn't be in Shimagakure's best interest if either of them ended up wounded after the fight. Sukotto wasn't sure how to react to Maya and her weapons, as he didn't want to hurt her, but also didn't want to have himself damaged, as he'd be no use to the village or anyone else injured or dead. Maya charged at the Uchiha male head on and while Sukotto figured that it was possible for him to dodge her physical attack without assistance, there was a good chance she'd hit him. Before calculating exactly what he'd do, Maya eyed Sukotto's closest friend at the time, Uchiha Senritsu, with a threatening glare. Since Senritsu was an academy student at the time, and Maya was well on her way to becoming a chuunin, Senritsu would have little chance of defending against the enraged Tategami. This instance provoked Sukotto to activate his Sharingan, which allowed him about a ninety-five percent chance to dodge the incoming attack, giving himself the immediate advantage.

Before continuing and allowing himself to think about the climax of the battle between himself and Maya, Sukotto decided to compare this reaction of the near-chuunin shinobi to what he was looking for out of Serena and Shisei, in terms of their emotions and reactions as a result of those emotions. Maya's furious reaction had obviously been caused by the fact that some harm had come to Baki. Sukotto had been the one to deal the blow to the lion, and it hadn't been a fatal attack, or one that had intended to cause injury, just an attack that had been designed to neutralize the animal. Sukotto figured that this very fact had some sort of effect on Maya's thought process, as she wasn't directing the full extent of her anger at him. In fact, she had focused nearly half of that negative emotion of fury at Senritsu, which had most likely thrown her attack off a little. The fury and rage wasn't completely blind, since Sukotto hadn't actually intended on hurting the lion, yet nevertheless, Maya was forced to bear witness to her closest friend receive a powerful taijutsu attack that caused the creature to go limp, a frightening sight indeed. She hadn't really taken the time to examine the situation, which in this case was bad, but on a real battlefield, one didn't always have time to examine a situation and properly react to it.

Indeed, Maya's primal instinct, which was especially present in the Tategami clan, became active. In addition, her personal emotions had flooded into the situation, making a complete mess of her state of mind. As noted previously, Sukotto had actually intended on doing this, but he never anticipated that the girl would actually resort to bringing out her weapons against him. Had she done this on the field of battle, she would have most likely left a squad behind her, and gotten herself hurt or killed, which would leave them one person down, creating even more of a disadvantage, considering that Baki would be downed as well. It was a very cold way to look at things, but Sukotto was thinking strategically, and knew that things such as the intense emotions of Maya needed to be controlled so that they could be unleashed against the enemy, not a fellow shinobi, or carelessly against an enemy which would put the team in a worse situation than they were in previously. Sukotto wanted to teach his squad members how to tap into powerful emotions such as these and use them to their advantage, instead of allowing the emotions to tear them away from what was really important, the safety of their remaining squad members.

Sukotto had read of powerful techniques that unlocked powers within a shinobi's body that would otherwise lay dormant. The reason that these sorts of powers weren't always unlocked was because one's body limited how far an individual pushed themselves, so that they wouldn't overdo it and end up risking serious, self inflicted injury, or worse. The Uchiha had taken quite a great interest in these sorts of techniques, but he wondered if an individual's emotions, if properly controlled, could unleash similar powers without dispelling a serious amount of chakra or dancing around the possibility of injuring oneself. Their abilities wouldn't actually increase, but instead they would perform more efficiently with the ones that they already possessed. For this to happen, it would be necessary for the given shinobi to truly believe in the mission that they were given. This sort of thing couldn't be taught with the silly little missions that the academy handed out. Sukotto figured a few of those were good for a shinobi, as they often involved community service or helped with a shinobi's core skills, but to truly grow, one needed to experience a mission that they really felt was worth sacrificing everything they were to complete.

{Sorry for my terrible inactivity, Katz...stress took over my body xP}

Serena was barely listening to what Shisei had said. She was too caught up in her attempt to keep him from falling that nothing else seemed to get inside of her head. "Yeah, I guess..." She tried to hoist the boy up higher but his weight was aided by gravity. "Ugh..you could help me a bit?" The girl kind of lacked arm strength..something she might want to work on. Lifting weights, doing pushups...something of the sort. This experience taught her that she needed to work on her upper body just a bit more. The girl never really liked that sort of thing, though. She hated working her arms. For some reason, it was always harder than exercising with the legs. Maybe it was because they were used more often then the arms. Walking, running...common tasks. Pushups and pullups, on the other hand, were not daily activities that the girl partook in.

Eventually, the Raiken had gathered enough physical strength to get Shisei back up onto the cliff. "There...you're back up. Now don't fall down again." For a moment, Serena could feel the blood pumping through her arms from pulling him up. She grabbed her left arm and attempted to massage it a little bit before that limp feeling would go through her arms. It was then that the genin realized just how out of shape she seemed to be. "Ugh...some pull-ups would be good..." She looked at the boy and wondered how his reaction to her help would be. It didn't seem as if he appreciated her help..but he never liked to work with other people anyways.

When Serena managed to pull the serpent youth up from the cliff, Sukotto decided that it was time for him to enter the scene. "Well done, Serena, I'm sure Shisei appreciates your help," Sukotto stated with a sly grin. "Now that you're both obviously warmed up, I think that it's time for a special training session that I've been saving just for the two of you." Sukotto could tell that the pair of young shinobi were quite tired and stressed after having gone through such a tricky situation, which meant that it was the perfect time to give them a difficult task, since they'd run into these kinds of situation in nearly every mission after ranking up a bit in the shinobi hierarchy. "I want the two of you to try and strike me with attacks. You can use any kind of attack you like and go about attacking me in any way that you like, but be warned, I won't really be holding back when it comes to dodging, so you may have to think outside of the box a bit. You two are aiming to score three points. To score a point, at least one of you must touch me with an attack." With that said, Sukotto entered his favorite fighting stance within the Phoenix Form, but altered it a bit to prepare for defense rather than a mix of offense and defense. "You two may talk about how you want to go about this session amongst each other, or just simply begin." Sukotto would use this training session to actuall get further in his training session as well. The way that his squad mates would go about attacking him would tell the Uchiha a lot about them.

After having set the stage for his mock battle with Serena and Shisei, Sukotto allowed his mind to shift from the thoughts pertaining to the moment, and back to the battle that he had been engaged in with Maya. It had reached its climax in his train of thought, as Sukotto had reached the part in which Maya had taken out her weapons and charged at him. Sukotto probably would have just attempted to dodge the attack normally, or just with the aid of the Kawarmi no jutsu, but the fact that Maya had gazed a threatening look in the direction of Senritsu had awakened Sukotto's Sharingan. As soon as the sea of red replaced the original hazel color of Sukotto's eyes, the Uchiha saw things as though they were moving in slow motion. Maya's fierce charged turned into a gentle jog and Sukotto had time to read every subtle expression on the girl's face, as well as her muscle pattern, which told him that she wouldn't be holding back on the attack. Quite easily, Sukotto sidestepped her attack and ended up standing right behind her, as the Tategami had obviously been dumbfounded that her attack had hit nothing but air, not even the loose parts of Sukotto's clothing.

Before continuing to think about his battle with Maya, Sukotto switched back to the training at hand and quickly analyzed the pair of shinobi that stood before him. In regular battles, Sukotto normally always looked deeply into the subtle motions of his opponents to determine what sort of strategy, if any, they would open the battle with. This initial strategy could literally change more quickly than one's eye could blink, but Sukotto found that he performed much better when knowing what he'd be facing from the very start of the confrontation. Up until this point, Sukotto hadn't taken the time to do so for Serena and Shisei, and it would obviously take a little more time before he could read anything from the two, as they hadn't quite reacted to what he had said yet, but Sukotto figured that they would most likely show what they were going to do a bit more blatantly than some his previous opponents had, simply because they were of lower rank. However, Sukotto refused to underestimate any opponent, and it would be no different with his squad members, even though they were more like students at this point rather than shinobi of equal caliber.

Shisei stared at the Raiken first and then turned to the Uchiha as he spoke. As if he was putting words into his mouth. It made Shisei’s brow quiver in an unsavory manner. The serpent youth then rose to his feet brushing dust off of his body. “You’re help was not necessary. I would have gotten back up. Still… thank you for the effort. Just don’t expect me to return the favor in the future.” the snake state taking into view Sukotto. The teen had issued a challenge and had now taken some type of stance. Shisei was feeling the impulse to begin on his own, but decided against that urge. After all he was Uchiha Sukotto. The person before the ghost colored child had beaten Tenmoki Aya. He as well had faced off against many of the other chuunin and showed his supremacy. Most importantly that Sharingan… the eye that traced everything. It was annoying like the Byakugan and did not make things easy. The chuunin was allowing the two to collaborate in any form of attack. There wasn’t any doubt that the hazel eyed shinobi’s skill exceeded that of a genin. The only way to gain a point would be to find an utilize a blind spot. Easier said than done. “Well… ladies first.” Shisei said giving Serena a small judge in Sukotto’s direction. If she went first maybe more information could be discerned about the teen ninja.

In all honesty, Sukotto was quite excited for this training session, mostly because he felt as though he hadn't really seen the full extent of his squad mates' skills or abilities through his prior observation of them when selecting the members for the squad, or in the few training sessions that he had seen them complete. Through a very light form of meditation, he felt as though he had a greater understanding of who they were, but not entirely what they were capable of. Since they had been exposed to the academy to some degree, Sukotto figured that their defensive abilities were lacking, as the academy had often seemed to perform poorly in its duty to properly train shinobi in the art of defense. It seemed as though the academy was more focused on training the students in a variety of skills, and this was a good thing when used to a certain degree. However, Sukotto felt that the faculty members should have looked into the personalities of each student a little more deeply to better understand what the given student would be good at, while at the same time, training them in the defensive arts that included but was not limited to, dodging physical attacks, detecting hidden opponents, sensing their way through deceit and genjutsu, and finally, escaping or enduring various traps or holds.
