Uh Maniac, I dont know how it is where you come from, but when someone speaks in another language infront of people who dont speak that language, its considered rude.

Although... Vegilla, did you know there was an American president (whose name escapes me) who spoke Japanese... and whenever he and his wife needed to discuss something, but guests were there, they'd jabber off in that oriental language??

there were only people who did speak the language...and when there were still others, they didn't really complain...only joked a bit.
germans speak german to us all the time. so do french. when they come here, we need to learn THEIR language. Now THAT's rude. we don't complain (well, we do, but can't change their attitude), so I just do it back. I see it as normal. Blame the french
